The book is about astrology and how the alignment of stars and planets affects our personality and day-to-day life.

Astrology is a concept that has been there for ages, since the era of Egyptians and somehow it has found its place in modern-day and age.

I personally picked this book for fun, I didn't believe much in Astrology, so I'll give my review as objectively as I can.

The intro of this book gave insight into how impactful astrology has been throughout history. It really piqued my interest.

The rest of the chapters are basic intro and knowing each and every sign.

I matched it with my own sign and somewhat it is true, while other things are way too far from the truth. I still noted down the important info just in case.

The cover and design of the overall book is gorgeous. It is beautiful and attractive. Overall, 3 stars. Would recommend if you're somewhat interested in Astrology but are a noob in that subject.

The author does a really good job at the beginning of the book to explain that astrology is a guide, not an absolute. I also like that they take the time to give some basics like what the different houses are, what a cusp is, etc. vs. just diving right into specific traits for each of the signs.

For a short book, this was very informative. I like that there were sections that you wouldn’t expect like places that a sign should travel and the zodiac superlatives at the end were cute.

Only thing was sometimes it was a bit tough to read due to the formatting of tables in an e-book on mobile.

Thanks to NetGalley, Jessica Allen, and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Basic Astrology

Jessica Allen begin by explaining how the planets and houses fit in our lives. She states that we’re affected by the planets and their relationship to one another, because they represent motivations, influences, and approaches. She further states that along with the twelve signs of the zodiac, astrology has twelve houses, which oversee various parts of our life, such as money or friendship. She explains that each house is ruled by a sign, and the house and its ruling sign share characteristics. The author list and discuss, in further detail, each planet, it's symbol, it’s effects and impact on our life, and the affiliated zodiac sign.

The author discusses birth charts and the correlation between them and their presence or absence in the various houses.

I've reviewed several astrology books in the past couple of months, and The Magic of Astrology is one of the better books I've read. It's not a long or difficult read (only 176 pages) but is packed with lots of useful information. Unlike some authors, Allen doesn't spend time explaining how to create or interpret a birth chart, and instead focuses on the individual zodiac signs. Each sign is provided with information on ruling planet, compatibility with other signs, health, careers, and a lot more. Handy charts make it easy to reference and cross-reference everything Allen packs into these pages. If you're looking for a quick-reference guide to the zodiac, this is the book for you.

This book provides a basic introduction to each sign’s classic and lesser-known traits, zodiac compatibility matrix, and career ideas. The author also added multilayered information to provide signs with tips on travel and décor and insight into their communication style and health and wellness. Each chapter focuses on one of the zodiac to make it easy for the reader to follow along. The basic insight provided by the author helps the reader to self-reflect and learn how to interact with their sister signs.

I reviewed my personal sign along with others close to me, and I was happy to see some accuracy. For my sign, the overall content was mostly accurate, but the lists like for travel were only somewhat accurate. The "sun sign yearbook" page is a cute way to reinforce the superlatives of each sign. The zodiac compatibility matrix is also interesting, although I felt like the signs it said I was compatible with were not accurate (which is usually the case when I've looked up other matrices from other sources). There was even a celebrity zodiac match section so you can see how your favorite celeb duos fit together.

All in all, this is a cute introductory book to thumb through whenever you have company over and want to spark a conversation.

This book was very insightful and very helpful with my research on the zodiac signs and also helped with working and learning about my own birth chart. Would recommend to anyone wanting insight.

This was interesting reading. Each sun sign is examined thoroughly, with an eye towards strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates them and/or keeps them happy. I liked the way sun sign characteristics were extrapolated into real-world advice about how to make spaces appeal to each sign, what leisure activities might be best, etc. It gave a good sense of what each Sun looks like a person, instead of a collection of traits.

I would loved a bit more explanation about a few things. There were suggested travel destinations, but I would have loved to have known why they would have appealed. The same for the mentions of compatibility--why are some signs particularly compatible and why do they tend to be at odds with others?

This is a good introductory guide that gives the reader a real sense of the personality of each sign and what they look like out in the wild, so to speak. It would be a great pick for someone just learning about sun signs and curious to expand their knowledge.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

Astrology is such an interesting topic to study. I have read many books but this one was super pretty and fun to read. Thank you for letting me have an ARC copy of this book. I'm a cancer and I felt like everything that was written describes me to a T.

I love the illustrations on this book and I jumped to the final chapter to read about the Pisces me and if you're into tarot and astrology, or curious to know more about zodiac signs- some strengths, weaknesses, common connections and the like, then this is a great and easy to read book.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
