Everything is Fine hooked me immediately. This book was equal parts creepy, unsettling, and fascinating in all the best ways. The simplistic art style and color scheme worked wonderfully together in setting the tone of the book. Using expressionless faces and intentionally leaving silent moments throughout was such a great idea because I wasn't sure how to feel in the moment with the character.
While I didn't fully understand the situation behind Winston (the dog), it was definitely the first indicator that everything was not okay. I'm glad it ended where it did because if things had been explained it would have changed the entire feel of the book since it wouldn't have matched the overall pace.

I found this to be wholly original. The mystery in this book compelled me to continue reading, and I am so excited to see where this is going. However, I did find there was too much mystery, and too little answers. I do hope this will be resolved in the next volume.

4.5/5

uuuuh this one was a creepy ride.
In every page and scene there's a feeling of "something seems off", but it the end everything is fine :)

This is was it looks like a pacific and standars neighbourhood, but is it really like that?
What are all these characters hiding? What is really happening in that apparently happy place?

Don't go looking for answers because you'll get none, and that's what makes this book special and unique. You have to forget all this is happening, because everything is fine :)

I have been wanting to get into this series on Webtoons.com, but never found the time with my busy schedule.
Now that I have finished reading this first volume, I had no idea it would get this dark. This graphic novel/webcomic takes an anthropomorphic Johnny the Homicidal Maniac with a Hunger Games surveillance trope to the extreme. With this book, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading it, wondering when the suspenseful shoe was going to drop. It did not disappoint, but I am craving more!!

Mike Birchall really thought outside of the box with this webcomic because it puts the thought of what would happen a Utopian society that controls people's' every move, would fight back in a way. Birchall's work kind of reminds me of V for Vendetta when troves of people started fighting back and killing Fingermen on the streets, but more calm at first and gory at the end. I think this is a very interesting book to read that would help younger audiences reimagine George Orwell's 1984 novel. I feel like this should be slowly introduce to teens and young adults because the gory at the end might be a little too much for younger kids to be exposed to. Overall, I loved the first volume of this series, and I cannot wait to read the rest later.

Every now and again you'll stumble upon a book that pleasantly surprises you. This is EVERYTHING IS FINE. I admittedly requested to review the book simply because of the cover, not even bothering to read the description. I had no clue what I was about to read when I sat down to read it, and I'm grateful I knew nothing going in. This book will take readers on a strange trip and leave them eagerly awaiting the next volume with the final page.

To keep it simple without spoiling anything, EVERYTHING IS FINE takes place in an idealistic world where everything is, well, fine. Until it isn't. While the concept of EVERYTHING IS FINE isn't necessarily anything new, author Mike Birchall manages to create a wonderfully confusing and disturbing world in such few pages… it's hard not to be eager to see how it'll all end. Especially as the ending is a huge cliffhanger.

There will be plenty of questions to be asked by the end of the story and very, very few answers provided. And while that may be frustrating with most stories, when it comes to EVERYTHING IS FINE, the lack of answers actually works in its favor. It helps to keep the mystery alive and allow Birchall to craft a truly disturbing story that readers are definitely not prepared for.

As delightful as this book is, the artwork can be distracting. It's incredibly plain. In fact, t kind of reminds me of Minecraft at times. While the simplistic art style does help to sell this world crafted by Birchall, it may be hard for the readers to truly appreciate the story being told -- to make them want to keep turning the pages. It's the only true drawback with this book.

EVERYTHING IS FINE is a book you'll want to go into blindly. Don't read the description. Don't read reviews. Just dive right into this strangely intriguing story of this "perfect" world.

Everything is most certainly not fine in this story! This book was so good I could not put it down and I normally do not enjoy horror. I felt similar vibes to the movie "Don't Worry Darling" while reading this. I highly recommend checking out this book!

Actual rating is 3.5. This reminded me a lot of Don’t Worry Darling. It’s an intriguing read with a story that takes a while to figure out and at the end of the volume you still don’t know much. I enjoyed the character design but I would’ve preferred a more detailed design of the world. The way the neighbourhood was drawn reminded me of low budget 3D Video Games which just isn’t a good look. The end was very thrilling and got me interested in continuing with future volumes. Overall it’s a good start to the story that lays down the basic fundamentals and provides enough hints and intrigue to continue reading.

This comic was right up my alley! It was so freaky and disturbing and I LOVED IT. I got chills reading this because it was so unnerving. I have no words aside from, "it's a creepy masterpiece, go read it."

This isn’t my usual style of graphic novels that I like to read but I found myself weirdly drawn to the cover and title and just had to request the ARC to find out more. Everything is Fine volume 1 includes episodes 1-16 from the WEBTOON series of the same name. This follows Sam and Maggie through their very normal lives, with their normal dog in their perfectly normal neighbourhood where everything is most definitely fine…Except their dog has been dead for a while, the neighbourhood is filled with surveillance cameras and one of their neighbours might be hiding something in his basement. Weird, creepy, eerie and overall a bit of mind fuck. I’m definitely looking forward to further volumes of this one.

Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As bleak as it is mysterious, Everything is Fine doesn’t waste any time becoming increasingly uncomfortable. There’s a certain sense of underlying dread wrapped inside curiosity in Mike Birchall’s story that keeps you asking yourself why is everything actually not fine? There was more depth to characters than I expected, and Birchall is giving almost a Truman show experience.

Volume 1?!?! VOLUME 1?!?!?! I honestly had been okay with the ending of this as The Ending™, I hadn't realized that it wasn't and I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about continuing on, as the ending before this gave me similar vibes of the scary stories we read as kids where we don't get a real conclusion.

This starts out really slow, like REALLY SLOW and even as the pieces start to fall in place the pacing doesn't feel like it picks up. I feel like "Everything is Fine" falls victim to the change in format from webtoon to physical book when it comes to this. Because the way you end up consuming this book is in one sitting which isn't typically the way that you consume webtoons. But also there is the fact there is something totally different in the way that your brain processes scrolling down thru a chapter vs turning pages the contain 3-6 panels typically, for some reason the later just ends up feeling slower. Even if they may look like they've always been in this format with how they overlay, it doesn't give the same impression when you're trying to processes it as a reader.

If you can get past the pacing, the story is intriguing though you find yourself entrenched in a story somewhere between Big Brother and "The Stepford Wives". Where you are left constantly trying to piece together the pieces of information you are given, and to fully understand what is going on/what previously happened.

3.75. A dark book I had the chance to read as an e-arc. I already knew the story from WEBTOON and wanted to know how it would turn out as a book. It’s not bad, but I prefer the webtoon, especially for the editing

But it's still great for people who don't read webtoons because it is a great story, that makes you uncomfortable, and that's what I love about it.

I read this comic on Webtoon and was excited to see it’s becoming a published graphic novel! Ironically, I only got about as far as this book ends when reading along.

So I’m still stuck not knowing what comes next!! I have no idea what’s going on but I’m dying to know! A great story that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, despite constantly keeping you in the dark.

Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced reader copy.

I am definitely going to have nightmares, but secretly I love the unsettling feeling this story gave me! The art is eerily adorable, and when the "jumpscares" occur, you really don't expect them. I can't wait to read more of this story..

The kind of bold storytelling I love, taking big swings and succeeding more often than not. Don't let the cutesy art fool you, this is dark, twisted stuff, slow burn horror with some shocking twists and graphic moments of extreme violence. It's not going to be for everyone, and the pacing is decidedly slow, but if you're willing to buckle in for a long ride then the rewards make it more than worth the trip. The art style is deceptively simplistic, with basic, friendly shapes making the under-lurking darkness stand out even more clear. A fine piece of dystopian scifi horror, and I cannot wait for the next volume.

Okay. I don't know what I just read, at times it reminded me of the movie Don't Worry Darling.

I heard a lot about this webtoon and I wanted to read it but I ended up very confused and the truth is that I couldn't connect much.

In case I don't like characters that don't have facial expressions. By having those masks, you kind of don't know what expressions they might be making. But that would take away the creepy, right?

I would like to know how it goes because that ending was pretty intense!

This is a story where, obviously, everything is not fine. It's very slow and as a first volume on its own I would say I have very lukewarm feelings. Would still give it a shot to see what it progresses into.

Whoa!

Through a series of hints that start subtle, Mike Birchall establishes a world that is unsettling and uncomfortable in a brilliant way.
As the first volume, the story is compelling and set up efficiently, and the ending leaves up wanting to know more.

Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the opportunity to read this ARC.

WOW did I love this!

I'm a massive fan of utopia that's actually a dystopia and this graphic novel flawlessly shows that off.

It has all the feel of some of my favourite dystopias such as Black Mirror and Stepford Wives. it's funny, it's dark, it's ironic and it has alot to say.

The fairly simple panelling and art style for this also really highlights this story and works perfectly in tandem to set the mood for it.

I absolutely loved it and will be clamouring for the next volume

Everything is not fine. And I love it.

I have been a fan of this webtoon for awhile, and I'm stoked to see it being released in a different format. The storyline is intriguing and definitely embodies a horror/thrilling factor.
