A truly moving re-telling of Romeo and Juliet - except they are living for eternity, over and over again. Such a creative story - really enjoyed this one!

This was such a sweet, simple book! I read this in one sitting during my last long flight. I do wish there was more into the story.

Right away I was intrigued by this book. Romeo and Juliet the tale as old as time, but with a twist!!

You couldn’t help but fall for Sebastian/Romeo and Helene/Juliette’s story and all that they go through to find one another through the years. The book kept your interest throughout and is a great quick read!

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC

A super unique take on Romeo and Juliet! I enjoyed this book, but don't love the surprise pregnancy trope and I found the heroine unlikeable at times. However it was still a good book and I love when an author can create a new take on something that has been redone many times before!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House-Ballantine for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. This is a beautiful piece, rich with romance, history and manages to be lush and elevated while staying very readable and contemporary.

It doesn't get as bogged down with the historical vingettes as it could and stays capitvating throughout. I will admit I enjoyed the beginning/first half more because I felt like the stakes could have been higher towards the end but it was a very enjoyable read even if my LOVE of the premise made me wish for a slightly better execution at times. Devoured it and wished for more even though it let me down from what I thought it could have been.

If you are someone who loves the Romeo and Juliet story, books dealing with interesting time progression issues, or just someone who loves a star-crossed lovers "love story" this may be the book for you!

This was my first surprise pregnancy trope and im not a fan. The concept for this story was great but execution was poor. The main character was giving strong pick-me vibes. She also was having a literal panic attack and then like a week later she's cool with sebastian and the curse? Weird. There should have been more panic. Also the time skips were weird bevause i never knew how much time had passed. The climax of the story hit at like 92% in and that was weird. Uneventful. Writing was often poor, but worse in Juliet's POV for some reason. Overall this was a letdown.

The Hundred Loves of Juliet by Evelyn Skye
.
A new spin on Romeo and Juliet.
Helene has left her husband and traveled to Alaska to work on writing her book, when she runs into a man who looks and acts just like her imaginary friend she has had since she was younger.
.
What I liked:
-I liked this new spin. The story that played out was unique and I honestly could never have guessed what was going to happen. I am impressed.
-The fact that Helene stood up for herself and left her ex in the first place. I loved the strength she showed in this book.
.
3⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wanted to love this story but I just was not feeling those happy feelings reading this. It was tragic but not in a way where it really tugged my emotions. I am glad with where the story ended, but I think I enjoyed the suspenseful parts of the story more than the romance part of it. So it was good but not great.

The Hundred Loves of Juliet is such a fresh and imaginative take on Romeo and Juliet that also goes so much deeper than the original tragedy.

Somehow of late without meaning to, I have been picking books that have Death as almost a main character. And then within the past few days I had a life changing experience that brought be face to face with this character. Because of that I found myself identifying with Sebastien who is so acutely aware of Juliet’s mortality and struggles so much with balancing wanting to love her with everything he has but also being terrified to lose her.

In her afterward, Skye tells the story of her husband’s own illness and the struggles she faces every day loving someone who could die at any moment, and it makes sense why this book is so beautiful - because it is her soul. And I firmly believe that this book made its way to me at just the right time, and for that I am so incredibly grateful.

How beautiful to think we could fall in love with our someone over many lifetimes, knowing our hearts have always been connected. And how tragic to think we’d be perpetually cursed to never be together long. The retelling of Romeo and Juliet is very creative, and the romance was a sweet beautiful read. A lot of repetitive history throughout this book, but it builds their relationship depth. The authors note was very special.

I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I wasn't really sure what to expect but I'm glad I took a chance on this book.

I loved this book so much. I really enjoyed the dual pov and also the multiple timelines. I think it recalled added to the story. I found it interesting how her short stories aligned with their many lives together. This was such a fun read.

This book was so fun!

To me it was like a mix of addie la rue and the bellinger sister by tessa bailey!

The first 80% of the book was phenomenal, I really enjoyed it. I struggled with the last 20%. It felt rushed to me and the reason for the curse really did not make sense to me. I feel like there should have been a better reason. But that aside, I highlighted SO much in this book. I felt like there were so many inspirational moments that I loved and quotes I wanted to take with me forever. Also the forced proximity in the snow storm was chefs kiss!

I also thought it was so sweet the author wrote this in dedication and with her husband in mind. I found it incredibly sweet.

Overall I loved Helene and Sebastian I just wish the ending was a bit different and not as rushed.

As always thank you to publishers and Netgalley for a free arc in exchange for an honest review. ** Spoilers are included in this review, you have been warned**

I was completely underwhelmed by this book. I expected a dynamic and incredible love across lifetimes type of novel, and what I got was a book I forced myself to keep reading. The love interest felt like such a copy and paste from most romance novels, overall just didn't impress me much.

I think I liked the idea of this book more than the turnout. Don’t get me wrong it was an enchanted story with beautiful character building! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fluffier romantic piece with a happily ever after. My problem with this book is it lacked excitement and the plot was a little lacking. I was just expecting more overall I guess.

This was so cute and devastating and heartwarming. This was the perfect lazy Sunday read! I laughed, I kicked my feet, and I cried. The story is unique and well paced. I was hooked from the start and read it one sitting. I am a sucker for a good retelling and this did not disappoint, The Romeo and Juliet element was done in a way felt like it expanded the story not just retold it. I can now say that reincarnation is a top romance trope for me. This truly was beautiful. My only wish was that it was longer! The Hundred Loves of Juliet is truly one for the hopeless romantics.

The Hundred Loves of Juliet was a devastatingly beautiful story. My heart broke for them but it was also very hopeful and heart warming. The storyline was unique, it was unlike any other Romeo and Juliet retelling, and I think that’s what got me hooked.
After everything Helene and Sebastien has gone through, it was quite beautiful seeing their story form. I loved Helene’s optimism, she really was the heart of it all.
I think what broke my heart the most was the contrast between Helene’s stories that she wrote and Sebastien point of view from his previous lives, Helene’s stories were beautiful and shaped her, but for Sebastien it was losing the love of his life all over again.
I do think the ending was rushed in my opinion, it was still beautiful regardless, and I just loved the last line of the book (it made me giddy because I CALLED IT) but how I wished there was more, there were certain issues I would have loved to seen resolved among other things.
Be sure to read the Author’s Note, I felt like it really did put this book into perspective.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House for the eARC.

I loved the idea of this book, but the execution fell flat. I felt zero chemistry between the main characters, and could not stay engaged.

The Hundred Love of Juliet was exactly what I needed when I read it. The prose is accessible and compelling, and I found Juliet to be a very enjoyable character to follow. I love Romeo and Juliet retellings, and a reincarnation romance is one of my favorite tropes, so this book had everything it needed to be a favorite. The pacing was excellent as well - I flew through it. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cozy, romantic contemporary fantasy book!

Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for granting me an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This story was SO unique! I really enjoyed this Romeo and Juliet twist or retelling of the story. This twist on Romeo and Juliet takes the concept and expands on it. When Helene was young she imaged the perfect man and she wrote and drew pictures of him. She also fantasized over what love would be like. However, after Helene goes through an awful divorce she travels to Alaska for a much needed break and vacation. Not too longer later, while in Alaska, she meets Sebastian Montague a handsome fisherman. She cannot help but feel like she knows him or recognizes him. He is the man that she dreamed about and created in her mind. However, how is that possible?

Sebastian Montague is determined for Helene not to find out the truth about them. However, as Helene continues to try to understand the truth, it emerges. The truth can endanger Helene and Sebastien's future before it can even begin. It also becomes apparent that it will not be easy for them to create a new ending to the greatest love story of all time.
