This just ended up not being a book for me. I really wanted to like it! I tried to read it a few times, but couldn't quite connect to the voice or the storyline enough to finish it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Loved this book. Really creative and beautifully written. You can’t help but get hooked on at the very beginning.

Two things excited me about this book upon first glance. The author and the setting. I have previously LOVED Evelyn Skye's The Crown's Game duology and I am a total sucker for anything set in Alaska which is one of my bucket list travel destinations. I was also intrigued by the idea of a modern-day re-imagining of Romeo and Juliet. I'm not the biggest Shakespeare fan but who can resist one of the greatest love stories of all time? Not me.
It hardly took any time at all for me to be 100% hooked on this book. I loved the main characters. Helene was such an interesting character on her own, as well as Sebastien but to see them interact together and piece together the truth about their history... oh man. I laughed, I cried, I raged at Helene's ex-husband right along with her and Sebastien. I was so engrossed in the story, I didn't want to put it down and I finished it in less than 2 days. This review is actually wildly late as I read the book back in October but I honestly still think about this story and the characters almost every day. It's not very often that I read a book and remember almost every single thing that happened but this was one of those times. This is definitely a story I see myself reading over and over again in the future. I need a physical copy of this book for my collection. HIGHLY recommend this book.

" I suppose, in a way, that's how is it is with all relationships. You fall in love with one person, and then they keep changing, because that's what people do. If you love them enough, though, you try to keep up."

OMG, I loved this book so much!!! This was such an amazing story, a modern-day retelling of Romeo and Juliet. This was such a unique way to tell this story. When Juliet dies, Romeo is left alive, without her. Until her soul finds him again- only to be ripped from him over and over, throughout time. There were so many different aspects and elements to this book that just made it perfect for me- the love story of course, the grief, the obstacles, even the "bad guy" character... it was just so amazing!!

I also really loved how in between the present-day timeline with Helene and Sebastian- we get all the love stories Romeo and Juliet have gone through throughout time; it was just perfection. And what made it even better, the author's note and her dedication to her husband that inspired this story!! Go read this immediately!!

"Every second of life is worth too much to wase on the infinite what-ifs."

THE HUNDRED LOVES OF JULIET has such a fun and unique concept! I couldn't stop reading in the hopes of finding out which lifetime these two incredible protagonists would inhabit next. It was suspenseful, romance, and heartfelt.

I enjoyed this one a lot!

In The Hundred Loves of Juliet we find Romeo is destined to live forever while searching for his Juliet. However, as fate would have it, as soon as he finds her and they fall in love, she is all but guaranteed to meet a tragic end. And the cycle begins again as Romeo is met with a broken heart. .

I enjoyed this magical story with characters whom we have loved for ages- I recommend this book for anyone who loves a romantic twist with time travel.

I love the concept of this story. The plot was extremely interesting, but the writing was very repetitive and overly explanatory. I think this plot would be served better as a television show or movie, where the audience can see rather than hear the characters’ internal monologues, which grow to be rather annoying and flat. Overall I am glad to have read the story, but I wish it was more well written and dynamic.

The time travel/sliding doors genre is not a new one, but it has certainly gotten a lot more popular recently. I'm always happy to find a new twist on this concept, and The Hundred Loves of Juliet was just that. Basically, Romeo is destined to live forever and keeps searching for his Juliet. But as soon as he finds her and they fall in love, she is all but guaranteed to meet a tragic end. And the cycle begins anew.

Truly magical and with two main characters that you can absolutely root for, this is a great read for anyone who loves romance or time travel.

Nope. I cannot handle this cheese. Chapter TWO and I'm dipping. I know all lovers of classic romance will inhale this like air, but it's laid on too thick for my taste.

**Thank you NetGalley and Del Rey for the eARC**

A cute retelling with lots of plot twists on Romeo and Juliette. Sebastian, our MMC, is actually Romeo who has an everlasting life. Juliette continues to be reincarnated throughout her lifetime into a variety of different characters, but cannot remember her love of Romeo each time. But he never gives up - he’s in it for life. I will say one negative was that the curse wasn’t truly explored - it was a HUGE topic in the book that impacted everything, but it was never really explored or figured out. Just kind of accepted it as it is: I appreciate the opportunity to read!

I loved The Hundred Loves of Juliet. This will be a reread book for sure. An instant romance classic.

This was a captivating retelling of the classic Romeo and Juliet story. We initially meet our Juliet thinking she is Helene and Romeo as Sebastien Montague. Helene has run away to Alaska to end her bad relationship. There, she meets Sebastien and thinks he's exactly what she imagined her main character from her novel to look like. Completely weirded out by the coincidence, she starts to ask questions about it. Eventually, she uncovers the truth and realizes that they are trapped in reincarnations of the classic tale. It's an enjoyable, creative, and refreshing retelling of Romeo and Juliet.

Aspiring author and journalist Helene Janssen has finally gathered up enough courage to make a few important changes in her life.

Change #1: file for divorce against her cheating (and emotionally abusive) husband.
Change #2: focus on her career as a writer and finally finish her manuscript.
Change #3: find new scenery and inspiration in Alaska.

Then, celebrate the New Helene's success with a European trip!

However, things turn sideways when Sebastian Montague enters the local pub. Rugged and handsome, Helene feels drawn to the crab fisherman in a way that feels visceral-- and that's not mentioning the fact that he's somehow been the main male lead in every story she's written since middle school.

Fresh and inspiring, THE HUNDRED LOVES OF JULIET tells the story of two people bound together by time and space-- as well as how true love will always find a way. This story is fun, but the delivery of the story is fairly simplistic. While the premise has promise for an emotional deep and moving story, at it's core JULIET is a love story from the author to her terminally ill husband. That love is woven throughout Sebastian and Helene's story, and the author's note at the end was truly touching.

I would say THE HUNDRED LOVES OF JULIET would be the perfect choice for a mature YA reader (while there are no explicitly spicy scenes, there are mentions of sex, pregnancy, and abuse) who's looking for a story with similar vibes to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue or The Time-Traveler's Wife

Helene is a writer seeking peace, so she goes to Alaska. There she meets Sebestian, a fisherman who is clearly not her type. But they have a connection that is beyond this world. As in, she might be a reincarnated Juliet, and he is perhaps a reincarnated Romeo. Can they finally get the happen ending they deserve?

This was a unique story with the time element that I love so much. I really enjoyed this.

After a terrible divorce, Helene moves to a small town in Alaska to write a novel. When she meets Sebastian, a handsome fisherman, he is the personification of all the dreams she ever had of her perfect man.

Helene is determined to find the truth about her instant connection to Sebastian, but he's determined to keep it from her. I don't want to spoil exactly how this Romeo and Juliet retelling is connected to the original story, but it's a lovely romance with many mini-romances scattered throughout. This is one of the best romance books of 2023.

This was lyrical, well-written, and tugged at a lot of heart strings. Beautiful prose coupled with an interesting premise will likely make this a favorite for those who have not yet discovered Evelyn Skye.

The Hundred Loves of Juliet by Evelyn Skye. Pub Date: August 1, 2023. Rating: 3 stars. I am always up for a good Romeo and Juliet re-telling and this one sounded really intriguing. Unfortunately, this novel fell flat to me. I loved the premise of a romance across time that gives cozy, loving feels but overall the story just did not progress at the rate I wished it would have. I don't know why I was not more invested, but there was something that did not keep the pages turning for me. Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review. #netgalley #thehundredlovesofjuliet

Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Del Rey and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel. We all love the story of Romeo and Juliet but find some of it more problematic as we get older. This was a wonderful take on the story with Juliet being reincarnated. While the book never answers why any of this is happening or what is different this time around, it is very sweet and loving. Dual perspectives did help tell the story well and I enjoyed my time with this. 4 stars.

I was very interested in the premise of this book, but it just didn't end up working for me. I found it quite repetitive and, though I was interested in the present day storyline, the constant flashbacks didn't grab my attention. I was expecting a more heart-wrenching, tragic tale, but what I read felt very surface-level. DNF for me at around 20%.
