This was a cute love story that felt natural between the two mains. while fizzy’s character often feel slightly like a caricature of a person, I loved the chemistry and it was very believable. A perfect beach read!

A classic Christina Lauren book! Absolutely loved it and I would recommend to anyone a fan of her writing or someone just wanting a good romantic book

Typical Christina Lauren fun but but with an extra notch of sassiness from the lead character. It's awesome to see romance novels continuing to normalize that women can like and want sex and not be shamed for it. There was a bit too much focus on male bodies that are muscular/fit and therefore hot, granted most of the men were involved in the dating show setting, but I'd still love to have a bit more diversity in body types or at least recognition that hotness is not tied to physical fitness.

Loved this book! Christina Lauren can never do anything wrong! All of their stories are so much fun to me and this book was no exception. I loved the characters and the way that Fizzy especially expressed herself. I loved the understanding between Connor and Fizzy. Overall, it was a really easy read and I highly recommend!

I was excited to be back in this world after enjoying the Soulmate Equation and wanting to know more about Fizzy’s character.

This story is centred around the same DNA test as the first book, but with the spin of incorporating it into a dating show. The MMC was sweet, great and maybe without flaws? Fizzy had some hilarious lines and great takes. However, it didn’t feel a spark with this one, like it was too formulaic and not enough tension. Overall, it was just okay for me.

Simon & Schuster Canada, Gallery Books, for the copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Felicity “Fizzy” Chen is a romance novelist who has had a series of one-night stands and has never really been in love, despite her career. Enter Connor Prince. Divorced, single father, television producer and British. With a series of conditions, Fizzy agrees to be Connor’s lead in his new romance reality TV series, but the magic just might be happening behind the camera.

This romance was very cute. I knew exactly where Fizzy’s heart lay pages into the book. I was much more engaged in Connor’s story than Fizzy’s as well. I was not totally interested in the reality TV plot either, but it did make for a unique romance novel. The thing that bugs me about this is the typical super-small female and towering male hero trope.

This was an anticipated read for me, I loved Fizzy's character in the last book. Heartwarming and relatable, fans of this authors writing will love the signature writing style mixed with humor, and romance we have all come to love. Although I loved the self-discovery, and human connection in this book, at time's I was left feeling bored. Overall a solid 3 stars for me, and bonus points for the concert scene!

As a huge fan of Christina Lauren's works I just loved their novel The True Love Experiement. Such a unique plotline, I loved the whole reality TV dating show bit they leaned in to. One notable note I made about this book is that our main character was confident and so unappolagetically herseld - she knew what she wanted and had such a gret attitide, not to mention she had the best kind of blunt humor. I don't typically enjoy many pop-culture references in books and I sometimes avoid books that make too many but I though this book did it perfectly and it actually added a really nice touch and it felt fitting given the theme of this book. Its also worth mentioning I did not previously read the Soulmate Equation before reading this but I would say it can definetly be read as a standalone which is a bonus.

This was so cute!!! I remember reading The Soulmate Equation a couple of years ago and I loved it (it was like the start of me getting into reading again). The premise of this was so fun and I really loved the behind the scenes and tension between Fizzy and Connor. I definitely wish we had more interactions with Stevie, Nat and other secondary characters (like the first book) but nonetheless, this was a cute read after a super long reading slump. Would totally recommend if you need something easy and quick to pick up.

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for an advanced copy of this novel!

“Sparks fly when a romance novelist and a documentary filmmaker join forces to craft the perfect Hollywood love story and take both of their careers to the next level—but only if they can keep the chemistry between them from taking the whole thing off script.“

I enjoyed this book so much. Having read The Soulmate Equation, and thinking it was ‘just okay’, I went in to this one with high hopes and low expectations. I’m glad to have been wrong on the latter.

I very much enjoyed both main characters. I liked that Fizzy was confident, and sex positive, and took no ish from anyone. I like that Connor was strong, and flexible, and working on his toxic masculinity.

I loved the secondary characters, both new and used.

I absolutely adored the reality show, and how it was handled. Just enough, but not too much.

My only quibble about the entire thing was how quickly both characters flip-flopped in the third act.

Fizzy flipped from Confident-These-Are-My-Boundaries to I-Made-A-Mistake-and-Ruined-Everything.

Connor flopped from I’m-Willing-to-be-Vulnerable-and-Take-a-Chance to Nope-You-Didn’t-Act-Exactly-How-I-Wanted-so-I-Take-it-all-Back.

Blurg.

Anyhow, I’m back on both Teams Christina and Lauren. More, please!

7/10

Thanks to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for this ARC.

As a big fan of The Soulmate Equation, I was SO excited to jump back into this world and see more of Fizzy in action. The concept of doing a reality dating show where the lead is a romance author and the potential matches are all love interest tropes was so clever! As a romance fan, all the nods to each trope was hilarious and like a little inside joke to all of the CLo fans who have read nearly every trope mentioned in one of their books.

As a fan of both CLo and reality dating shows, this book hit the mark wonderfully. I love Fizzy-- she's quirky in an un-ironic way, sex positive, and incredible intelligent. Mix that with swooney British producer, Connor, (who also loves animals and the environment) and you have a delightful pairing for all your romcom needs.

The will-they-won't-they sexual tension was DELICIOUS. Seriously-- I didn't want to stop reading because every time I finished a chapter I needed to find out if they were going to give in to the tension or not. The ending was beautiful, and the perfect HEA for Fizzy.

A fantastic addition to The Soulmate Equation, The True Love Experiment did not disappoint!

I really enjoyed reading Felicity “Fizzy” Chan’s journey in this sequel from The Soulmate Equation.
In The True Love Experiment we follow Fizzy who is a Romance novelist that is suffering from writers block due to she isn’t “practicing what she preaches” in her books. She decides to take up an offer from the handsome Documentary filmmaker Conner Price to be on a reality dating show- sparks happen between them however she is on the show to meet her match with the contestants not get involved with Conner.
The storyline, and the characters were so much fun to read and Fizzy,s humour and outlook on life was a riot. I had several lol moments and daresay I liked the sequel better than the first.
This book is a solid 4 stars and I will definitely be reading more from Christina Lauren in the future.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review The True Love Experiment.

REALLY enjoyed this book!!! Fizzy was a funny and fiesty MC, Connor was a perfect book boyfriend, the plot was creative and i loved the character and plot crossovers from THE SOULMATE EQUATION.
romcom's aren't typically faves of mine as i prefer emo romances, but this book had me laughing and smiling and vibing. Christina Lauren can do no wrong tbh ¡ it felt like their tried and true, fun love stories.

It wasn’t clear to me that this was book 2 in a series. I wanted to try to read it alone, but I had to go back and read the first book again.

Fizzy was a really fun character and I loved the growth that her character went through. It was a bit of a cringe show idea, but the way that she modified it made it sound like something that I would actually watch.

I loved the dual POVs, the characters were great as were their chemistry. I am a huge fan of Christina Lauren and look forward to reading more of her books.

This book was your typical CLo book and was just what I needed!

Synopsis:
Felicity “Fizzy” Chen is lost. Sure, she’s got an incredible career as a beloved romance novelist with a slew of bestsellers under her belt, but when she’s asked to give a commencement address, it hits her: she hasn’t been practicing what she’s preached.
Fizzy hasn’t ever really been in love. Lust? Definitely. But that swoon-worthy, can’t-stop-thinking-about-him, all-encompassing feeling? Nope. Nothing. What happens when the optimism she’s spent her career encouraging in readers starts to feel like a lie?
Connor Prince, documentary filmmaker and single father, loves his work in large part because it allows him to live near his daughter. But when his profit-minded boss orders him to create a reality TV show, putting his job on the line, Connor is out of his element. Desperate to find his romantic lead, a chance run-in with an exasperated Fizzy offers Connor the perfect solution. What if he could show the queen of romance herself falling head-over-heels for all the world to see? Fizzy gives him a hard pass—unless he agrees to her list of demands. When he says yes, and production on The True Love Experiment begins, Connor wonders if that perfect match will ever be in the cue cards for him, too.

If you have read 'The Soulmate Equation', then you likely already know Fizzy. This book was the perfect addition to that story and it was so fun to hear about Fizzy's life. I really loved the dual POV that the authors do so well. It was also full of romance genre love as Fizzy is a romance author.

This one was so good and had so many funny and unique parts to it. This one is sure to please Christina Lauren fans!
