This was a great mystery with triple motives by multiple suspects which keeps the reader guessing to the end . It had a very suspenseful ending and I also enjoyed the friendships of the main characters.

This series is turning into a favorite of mine. A perfect cozy for a rainy day, a beach read or just take a day off to enjoy a good mystery. The characters are fun and likeable. Good story plot that keeps the readers attention. A good solid mystery. Can't wait for the next one! Enjoyed this one! Another great read. Rain and Julia are always right in the middle of things. This story had a great twist with 2 murders to solve. I loved trying to figure out the who and why’s.

Yes this cozy mystery checked all the boxes of a fun one... combined a little Romance with a warm Cozy Mystery. Julia and Rain (remind me of Lucy and Ethel.. they get themselves into some real predicaments) (having to explain themselves to significant others Nick and Jace). Check. Jace and Rain a, new romance, which could be jeopardized due to the girls’ sleuthing exploits. Check . Use of a book club to introduce several characters and set up initial conflicts. Check. The book club has read an Agatha Christie mystery which the girls feel replicates the murder of their new book club friend,Lily. The rest of the book is trying to figure out whodunnit. Of course, there are several res hearings thrown out along with the typical twists and turns. In short, there was everything I want to see in a cozy mystery with a very little romance thrown in.. I didn’t realize until I was finished that this book was third in a series. This book worked perfectly as a stand-alone.

Special thanks to the following for allowing me to review early and give a personal and honest opinion. Yes I would definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys a comfortable cozy mystery. You get exactly what you are looking for in this cozy mystery. Would be a great, at the lake, summer read. Two arms way up with my jazz hands out!

I like the setting of this series though I have questions about the financing of the library (can't turn off my business sense at times). I enjoyed the storyline, but found the mystery a little easy this time. I did find it a little hard to believe that Rain and Julia, as locals, would have been foolish enough to be out on the lake at one point though.

I received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Read to Death at the Lakeside Library is the third installment in the A Lakeside Library Mystery series set in Lofty Pines, Wisconsin and featuring Rain Wilmot owner of the Lakeside Library and her best friend Julia Reynolds. Summer has come to the lakeside community and Rain is looking forward to spending time boating and swimming in addition to her library duties. Rain has decided to bring back her mother's summer book club and the first book up for discussion is A Sparkling Cyanide by Agatha Christie.

The first club meeting doesn't go exactly as planned with some of the ladies drinking a little too much and others getting into a squabble about a drowning years earlier and Lily Redlin ends up leaving early. The next day Rain and Julia feel bad about the way the evening ended so they decide to go down the lake to visit Lily's new home. Unfortunately, when they arrive they find Lily dead and further investigation reveals she was killed by Visine in her drink, the same way the character in the Christie book was killed.

As Rain and Julia set out to find a killer they are faced with figuring out if Lily was killed because she knew too much about the decades old drowning or did she in fact have a long lost manuscript written by Laura Ingalls Wilder as she claimed. The ladies discover that Lily had been raised in a foster home but had recently been contacted by an attorney who states that a long lost relative had left her his estate. Did this sudden windfall have anything to do with her death?

A great setting, a fun cast of characters and the addition of a rescue canine make for a wonderful read. In solving one murder the ladies also find the answer to the earlier drowning. Plus, things are definitely heating up between Rain and Jace, Julia's brother and readers will be touched with the care and concern the ladies show towards Marge as her memory begins to decline.

I received an advanced copy o Read to Death at the Lakeside Library from NetGalley via Crooked Lane Books. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

Typical beach read

Rain Wilmot is the owner of the Lakeside Library, a small library in a cabin next to her house on the lake in Wisconsin. As part of the library, Rain has decided to launch a book club, with the first selection being Agatha Christie’s Sparkling Cyanide. The club meeting gets a little heated, including a discussion of how to kill with other poisons; the next day, Rain with her BFF, neighbor and co-work Julia Reynolds, find that one member has been killed - by one of the methods discussed at the book club. Rain and Julia start to investigate.

The book was fun - perfect for the beach. The one issue I had was how Rain and Julia continually kept info from the police, Jace Lowe (Julia’s brother and Rain’s blossoming love interest); at one point, they discover a potentially case closing piece of evidence, but rather than letting Jace know, they take it to research on their own, ignoring the fact that if it was needed in a later trail, it would probably get thrown out because of their tampering. But overall, a fun read - makes one ready for a week at the lake!

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley.com and voluntarily chose to review.

Read to Death at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danvers was a very enjoyable Nancy Drew-like mystery for adults. I loved the setting of a small lake town "up north", as we call it in Wisconsin.
This was particularly interesting for someone from Wisconsin, hearing reflected all of our cultural nuances and things Wisconsin, like the history of Old Fashions to the mention of our beloved Green Bay Packers. But anyone not from Wisconsin will get a glimpse of our unique culture.
The setting of a small cabin library was terrific and fun. Danvers delivers engaging characters with the main characters, Rain and Julia, showing their quirkiness and tenacity. I loved the character, Marge, especially. All could relate to someone they know who is moving on in years but has so much to give.
The murder plot is well woven with some interesting twists and a few nail biters. And readers will be very happy with the conclusion.

When Rain and Julia kick off the Library’s book club with an Agatha Christie mystery, they surely did not expect to have one of the club members die under circumstance so similar to the story they just read. One thing is certain, the ladies of Lakeside Library will not let the death go unsolved, even if there is a killer who could be in their midlst.

This is an enjoyable series and I am so glad to see Rain’s life starting to move forward again. Between the mysteries and the addition of a fur baby, this series just keeps getting better and better with each new release.

I enjoyed this book it had a good deal of mystery for the reader to try and unravel while reading the book. I love that it was clear with the inspiration from Agatha Christy's writing. Following along with Julia and Rain as they searched for clues and got themself into pickles was enticing and endearing.

Another interesting mystery for Rain and her friends to solve. I appreciate a series that allows the relationships of the characters to grow while also providing an interesting storyline.
It was fun to go back to the Northwoods and feel like you are truly there. The library is a location I wish existed as I would love to visit.
The recipes in the back are appreciated as well!

I love the idea of this unique library and the settings and characters make it an enjoyable book.
Rain oversees the little library with the help of her friends, however, they have been known to become involved in local murder investigations.
This is the style of cozy mystery that makes my heart flutter whenever I see a new title available.
This is a must read series and I would suggest reading them in order so you don't miss anything.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

The suspense, the humor, the friendship, and the coziness made this a 4 ⭐ read for me! I loved the dynamic and dialogue between the characters and who doesn't love a cozy lakeside library with some mystery? The setting was perfect and it really made me want to digest this story in one sitting.

OK, I know I say it every time but here it goes again, I love cozy mysteries. Every time I read one I like them more and more. From the cute titles to the mystery of "who done it" I'm always drawn in to the story line. Now this book had me at the Lakeside Library, and the location did not disappoint! An old log cabin turned library, on the lake, with book club meetings...perfection. That is until one of the book club members is found dead after the first meeting! The book clubs first book is an Agatha Christie novel and the group discusses the fact Visine can help red eyes but it can also be put in a drink to kill someone. The group finds out that Lilly had this compound found in Visine in your toxicology report. Is life imitating art? Did Lilly do this to herself or did someone else? The group won't stop until they seek justice for Lilly.

Summer is in full swing as tourists flock back to the Northwoods and travel to Lofty Pines, Wisconsin. For Rain Wilmot, owner of the Lakeside Library, this is the perfect opportunity to bring back her mother’s summer book club. But the summer sun starts to really heat up when one of the club’s members, Lily Redlin, is found dead in her own home not long after the first meeting. I love this series the location, characters and all the adventures. It took me a while to guess the murderer. Rain, Julia and Marge all are friends that I would love to have. Finally Rain and Jace are moving outside the friend zone. Benzo is a great addition to this amazing family of characters.

Rain Wilmot runs the small Lakeside Library in Lofty Pines, a town in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. The library is in a log cabin that belonged to her great grandfather. She is assisted in the library by her best friend Julia and Marge, an older lady who is becoming increasingly forgetful. Rain has decided to start a book club, with their first title being Agatha Christie's "Sparkling Cyanide." The book club meets and after the members introduce themselves to one another, the discussion becomes somewhat heated when one member, Lily, begins to get upset as the discussion veers off topic. The next day, Rain and Julia decide to stop by Lily's house and talk with her to make sure there are no hard feelings. They discover that Lily is dead. It soon becomes obvious that Lily's death was no accident. Even though Julia's hunky brother Jace is on the police force and investigating the murder, Rain and Julia can't help snooping around to try to figure out who committed the murder.

The book was very cozy and sweet. There are several adorable dogs that need attention and frequent walks, and all discussions involve plenty of food and drink! The book club members are all suspects, but they were briefly introduced near the beginning of the book at the first meeting, and so it was a bit difficult to keep up with who was who. I enjoyed the variety of motives that emerged from the victim's complicated life! The book has several recipes at the end for some of the food and drink mentioned in the book.
