Thank you to NetGalley, Timothy Janovsky and Sourcebooks for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first novel from this author, but it will definitely not be the last. This was such a well thought out and beautiful novel. Who doesn’t love a time traveling type romance. So perfect. The characters, the stories and that ending.

A very witty, very modern-feeling romp. It screamed summertime. Drew is so dreamy and has so much heart. He was a great contrast to Nolan, who I loved in a different but no less fierce way. Can't wait to read what Timothy puts out next!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. I’ve been feeling very guilty that it is taking me so long to get through books. Life has gotten very busy - my apologies to the publisher.

I am enjoying the wave of books that have come out using the “13 going on 30” concept. I was really excited to read this take on it, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. The main reason: the lead was pretty unbearable, and even with his learning and growth watching his future life unfold, he was still unbearable. I couldn’t understand why the love interest liked him, and in all timelines he was incredibly self centred.

What I did like:
- the concept of the quirky company that caused all the magic
- the romance novel references throughout
- cleverly crafted spicy scenes that were both graphic and not vulgar at the same time

In short: a good attempt on the “waking to older” concept, but the lead character is a douche and hard to get past.

I was rather surprised by this book (positive). It's about a comedian which I have absolutely no interest in because improv is my actual nightmare and it involves magic crystal which I do have an interest in as a part time spooky person but what it's really about is one of my FAVORITE tropes which is waking up in the future with absolutely no idea how you got there. (magic, amnesia, time travel??? all three??? read and find out!) I very much liked that the comedian character Nolan turns out to be a total bag of butts in the future and built his fortune on the back of horrible raunchy jokes which thank goodness this book has very little of the actual tight tens in it because no one needs to read those. It focused more on Nolan trying to redeem his alternative future self's buttwad lifestyle and reconnect with his BFF (and love), his family, and his comedic roots. And of course finding the magic crystals to go back in time and prevent it from ever happening. Which, a luxury wellness brand being the source of magical objects is an incredible premise. I wish my scented candles and essential oil collection let me automate my roku or read thoughts! Instead I have to use the remote and ask people like a normal person.

Anyway, this was very enjoyable and fun read despite the ridiculous premise and a comedian main character.

4.75/5 stars! I love queer romance stories and 90s romcom movies, so I was sooooo excited to read this book. There were so many emotions in this story and I just couldn't get out of my feels of Nolan and Drew. I want to crawl into this book and give them both a hug. Ughhh! Just such a good story.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So good. Something that always impresses me about Janovsky’s work is how much genuine growth his characters go through; every beat of the story has a purpose. Even though Janovsky had warned me this one has more serious themes, I was still sucker-punched in the feels by the end. Beautifully done.

📖My Thoughts📖

Omg this book! It’s like the movie 13 Going on 30 with a dash of Big. I’m not even sure where to start! I adored everything about this book! I absolutely LOVED the characters, especially the two main characters. They were seriously meant for each other. It was the sweetest thing! There was a strong chemistry between Nolan and Drew right off the bat. Their relationship alone would have made a cute story, but adding a magical element, the progress growth and development of the characters, the challenges between them as well as the ones they faced alone and you have the makings of one helluva great rom-com! In all honesty, this book was exactly what I needed right now. It was so sweet and heartwarming, hitting me in all the feels. I really enjoyed reading this one and I think the ending was absolutely perfect!
Thank you Netgalley, Timothy Janovsky and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read and review this delightful book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Timothy Janovsky has such a fun, creative mind, and his stories never disappoint. Such is the case for New Adult, which pulled me in immediately and still hasn't let go. The time jump was done so well, and the shifts in relationships due to it were believable and full of drama. And of course it's such a great romance to follow! Can't wait to read the next Janovsky masterpiece.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in advance.

Unfortunately I dnf'ed this book quite early on. I just could not stand the main character at all.

This book is an adorable MM, friends to lovers romance with a twist: waking up in new life! I’d even venture to say that Nolan and Drew have an enemies to lovers moment when the time travel occurs and Drew hates the wildly successful Nolan.
With lots of comedic relief, this clean romance is sure to impress lovers of the genre. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. This review is my own.

Such a fun read! The time jump was handled really well, and it's always fun to see how a character will handle being a stranger in their own life. Nolan's growth over the course of the book felt earned and genuine and I loved seeing how his relationship with his family changed when he changed his perspective to include more of theirs. Drew was an absolute cinnamon roll of a love interest and it was delightful watching him and Nolan work together to figure out how to get Nolan back into his proper timeline. Heartwarming and cozy!

If you follow my reviews, you’ll l probably know that I’m a huge fan of Timothy Janovsky’s books. I loved Never Been Kissed when I read it last year and ended up adoring Matthew Prince. I really enjoy the romcom vibes of his books and they’re perfect for escapism. I’ve been super excited to read New Adult. It was pitched as 13 Going on 30 with time travel and romcom elements.

Nolan Baker is wannabe comedian struggling in New York City. Faced with his perfect sisters upcoming wedding, Nolan decided that comedy might not be in the cards for him after all, and plans to pack it up. First up: asking Drew Techler, how best friend, to be his date.

Unexpectedly, Nolan is offered a last-minute spot to fill in for a famous comedian, and selfishly decides to take it. This sends ends up sending him seven years into the future (where he is a successful comedian). Faced with a disappointed family and a scary new life, Nolan turns to his best friend for help… the man who is no longer talking to him and hates his guts.

Janovsky’s characters are always so lively and these were no different. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Nolan and Drew and thought it was really interesting how the author combined the friends to lovers trope with the hate to love trope. The time travel aspect was really fun but I adored how this book still felt like a good old contemporary romance.

The author is so good at combining humour and heart clenching scenes. I really appreciated the discussion of mental health and the depression rep. I’ll always be in favour of representing mental health in books because it’s something that just isn’t talked about enough. I really enjoyed the jumping through time and the exploration of how Nolan and Drew’s relationship changed at different points in their lives. Drew was my favourite character. I loved him and his little romance novels. The fact that the books he was reading changed based on what was going on in his life was marvellous. He falls into a depression over lost love and only reads moody mysteries? A total mood reader. I loved how everything came full circle at the end and he was back to romanticising everything.

This was another wonderful book by Timothy Janovsky that I would highly recommend. I really do enjoy his writing and I cannot wait to read his next book!

Thank you to Martina at Sourcebooks for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review!

A great feel good, gay romance.
Two best friends and the big dreams of love and success. What would you choose? and what if you have the chance to change your whole life?

Made me happy and I had some great reading hours.

Have fun reading!

4 stars!

Never Been Kissed was a top read for me last year so was very excited to give Timothy's newest release a read. I will say I wasn't sure how I felt about Nolan's character for the first few chapters. This man truly blew up all of his close relationships to go do a comedy set??

But post-time jump Nolan really grew on me. He realized just how poorly his decision impacted everyone in his life and definitely set about on his journey to fix things. I kinda loved the 'magical' element of the time traveling crystals and could not stop laughing at 'Doop' being modeling a la 'Goop' IRL.

Special shout to Imogen for providing the best comedic relief as only a 4 year old can! I was absolutely crying laughing in every scene with her.

Wasn’t sure where this was going at first but I ended up really liking it!! It’s a really interesting blend of New Adult (lol, the genre/age range), contemporary romance, and magical realism/fantasy, kinda a little sci-fi?

I almost DNF’d in the beginning because I thought I was going to get second-hand performance anxiety since he’s a comedian with memory loss/is in the future, but DON’T WORRY he never has to perform or anything. Instead, this book is more about second chances, rediscovering your roots, and the deep bond of family. The romance was a little underdeveloped, but the characters grow into each other towards the end and had me swooning! Overall this was great!

🌈 Queer rep: gay main character, MM main pairing

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

This book was so FUN at the same time that it was genuinely touching. I loved the Doopness of it all, the time travel, but more than anything, the relationship and the reflections on what truly matters when you're chasing a passion.

Super cute take on 13 Going on 30 (one of my favourite movies). Nolan was well developed, and I enjoyed watching him grow over the course of the book. I will say I felt like something was missing with the single POV, but I typically always feel that way with single POV books. I would still recommend if you're looking for a solid queer rom-com.
