I enjoyed reading the first book from A Season in Pinecraft series by Shelley Shepard Gray, Her Heart's Desire, and was honored to have the opportunity to read book two, Her Only Wish. I thought it was a wonderful addition to the series. I adored Betsy right from the start. I connected with her instantly and loved watching her interact with August. It was a sweet and heartwarming story between the two.

I am giving Her Only Wish four stars. I believe fans of clean Amish Romantic fiction will want to pick this one up for themselves. I am eagerly awaiting to read the next installment from A Season in Pinecraft series, Her Secret Hope.

Such a fun filled book when Betsy, a young Amish lady decides to get out from under her over protective moms thumb and head to Florida. When Betsy meets August Troyer at the local Amish owned golf course for lessons on how to play golf, will she also get a lesson in love? Find out when you follow Betsy’s journey as she tries to complete items on her bucket list that have been delayed due to health issues.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review. All words and opinions are my own.

Her Only Wish by Shelley Shepard Gray. I loved this story from beginning to end. Betsy Detweiler needs a change and to get away from her smothering parents. She decides to go back to Pinecraft, Florida with her life list of things she was never able to do because she was a sickly child.. Here she meets August Troyer who works at the Snow Bird golf course which is first on Betsy’s list. What Betsy doesn’t plan on is falling for her Amish Golf instructor and wanting to stay in Pinecraft. Absolutely a wonderful story. I was given an advanced copy to leave my honest review. A must read!

Shelley Shepard Gray’s newest book Her only Wish, the second book of three in the A Season in Pinecraft series continues the story of Betsy one of the Wallflowers.

It’s a great story of what you can complete in life with the help of a few friends, and a little determination, even when your health and fears can sometimes get in the way.

Betsy with a heartful of desire to complete her Life List sets out to a beautiful Pinecraft FL. Book two Her only Wish instantly draws you into her adventures and you are pulled back home to Pinecraft like you never left.

This book was a true page turner and I couldn’t put it down. The story is so beautifully written that you can picture all of your surroundings and feel the emotion of all of the characters and now I want to start a Life List.

I highly recommend this and all Shelley Shepard Gray’s books, it is possible to read as a stand-alone story.

“Her Only Wish” picks up the story of a young Amish woman named Betsy. This book can be read alone, but if you have read “Her Hearts Desire,” then you have met Betsy before. Betsy is trying to spread her wings after a sheltered childhood. She has a Life List to accomplish and this month of vacationing in Florida with her dear friend Mary is her time to cross off some of her list. Along the way, she meets some others who are inspired by her Life List, and it is good to read about changes in these secondary character’s lives as well. August lives in Florida and works with his Aunt and Uncle at their golf course. His parents are missionaries abroad, but he is relishing the love and sense of peace of being in one place doing what he enjoys. Betsy runs into August when she comes to cross off an item on her Life List. Readers will enjoy following both Betsy and August, along with some of their friends, as they navigate becoming more independent and spreading their own wings. I enjoyed this book as much as the first one in the series, and I look forward to reading more about these delightful and down to earth friends.

I requested and received a copy of this book for review. The words and thoughts expressed here are wholly my own.

Book two in the A Season in Pinecraft series can be read as a standalone but there are a few things alluded to from book one, Her Heart’s Desire.

We meet Betsy, who is dealing with asthma and overprotective parents, and August, who’s parents are very self centered. With both of them having things to deal with it’s a wonder they can even be friends. But friendship happens on the golf course.

Hope and courage are big factors in this story. And of course there’s a sweet romance. Or two. Or three. If you enjoy Amish fiction then do read Her Only Wish, and learn what that title is about.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Her Only Wish really resonated with me. I loved Betsy's story and her fierce determination to take control of her life. She definitely meets her match in August who also needs to forge his own path. I think Her Only Wish would be a great book to read with a group of middle school or high school girls. It would be interesting to contrast Amish life and expectations with what the girls find in their own lives.

Her Only Wish by Shelley Shepard Gray takes us back to Pinecraft, Florida. Betsy Detweiler is returning with a list that she wishes to complete during her monthlong visit. She calls it a life list. Health issues as a child have prevented Betsy from doing normal child and teen activities. Asthma does prevent you from doing normal physical activities, especially if you live in colder climates (I know from experience). I thought Betsy was brave to try new activities. It is not something that comes easy to people who are shy or who have been ill. I enjoyed getting to know Betsy. She meets some good people who help her complete her list. Betsy encounters August Troyer at the Snow Bird Golf Course which is an Amish owned golf course. August is smitten with Betsy from the very beginning. August is lucky to have such a loving and caring aunt and uncle. August’s parents are dedicated to their mission work but for the wrong reasons. They acted like children at times instead of adults. Betsy makes a difference in the lives of those she meets. An example is Annie and Danielle who help Betsy learn to swim. It gets you to think about your own life list. We also get to see that while you may want to learn an activity, you may not be good at that activity. It is amazing to see what determination and hard work can do. I enjoyed the beautiful descriptions of Pinecraft and nearby beaches (Siesta Key is my favorite beach). I am looking forward to Lilly Kurtz’s story in the next A Season in Pinecraft novel. Her Only Wish is the second book in A Season in Pinecraft series. While Her Only Wish can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Her Heart’s Desire. I like that we get to catch up with Mary Margaret and Jayson from Her Heart’s Desire. Her Only Wish is an uplifting Amish tale with a thoughtful friend, golf lessons, beautiful beaches, protective parents, swimming sisters, and a life list.

Betsy Detweiler heads back to Pinecraft, Florida to visit with Amish friends. She has made a special life list of things she wants to accomplish on the month-long stay. It is important to learn and experience these things that she was never allowed to do under her parents' care. She is an adult after all and able to make her own choices.
August Troyer is a quite taken with the young Amish woman when she appears at his family golf course to inquire about taking lessons. He has had a social life meeting many people as he traveled with his driven missionary parents but never anyone like Betsy.
I received the advanced reader's copy of this sweet romance book written by Shelley Shepard Gray. It is the second book in a series published by Revell. I have read the first book and recommend it. This works as a stand-alone read. I enjoyed this story very much. I love that other characters in the story decide to make their own life lists too. It is good to stop up and ponder what you would like to do while you have the time, before it's too late. There is a good reminder here that parents of grown children need to allow them to live their lives. Trust God.

Such a sweet book to read! I love that Betsy made a life list of things that she wanted to do and that it caught on with her friends. I also enjoyed that while completing her list she met and made such great friends. My favorite characters were Betsy, August and Annie!

“Her Only Wish” A Season in Pinecraft, book 2 by Shelley Shepard Gray
Courage to Live Goals
I loved this story of overcoming fear, of setting goals, of living life fully. Yes, I shed tears, happy tears, worried a bit and smiled a lot. This is my kind of story where my emotions get truly involved and I feel like I really know the characters and they are people I would love to have in my real world as friends and neighbors. Happy Reading ! !

We met Betsy Detweiler in the first book in this series. After returning home to Kentucky, she has decided to return to Pinecraft to experience new things, meet new people and more importantly to live life without her parents hovering over her constantly. I mean she does have a health problem but they treat her like a child and not the young woman she is.

I like Betsy, she is sweet, a bit awkward and seemingly clueless but in charming way. Her naiveté was a big part of her charm, she did have a spark in achieving her goals which added to her likeability. When she decided to take golf lessons, it was the start of amusing situations, not just for me as a reader but also for August Troyer who has challenges with his parents.

This is an entertaining novel, with well crafted characters, a wonderful storyline and one that kept me engaged from beginning to end.
I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. Opinions are my own.

Her Only Wish is book 2 in the Seasons of Pinecraft and is Betsy's story. She had issues with her lungs as a child and was very sheltered by her parents. Now she is visiting her friend Mary in Pinecraft and has written a life list of things she'd like to accomplish. She meets August when she decides to learn to play golf and so begins their adventure together. He is struggling with his parents not accepting him for who he is and needs to make decisions about his future. This was a very sweet romance and I'm looking forward to book 3 in this series.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Revell for allowing me to read an ARC for Shelly Shepherd Gray’s second book in her A Season in Pinecraft Series, Her Only Wish. The Release date for this book is June 6, 2023.

Although this book could very well be read as a standalone, you will enjoy it more as you revisit friends you met in Gray’s Her Heart's Desire.

This is the delightful love story of Betsy and August. This story is well written, exciting, and keeps you guessing from beginning till end. The characters are strong and well developed. Overall, this is a wonderful five-star addition to your Shelly Shepard Gray library.

In the story, we see love develop and grow. We also get a good lesson in acceptance of people as they are, and also allowing everyone to spread their wings and soar on their own.

This is a enjoyable book for anyone who loves Amish fiction.

Views expressed are my own, and I was not required to leave a positive review.

Her Only Wish is the second book in the A Season in Pinecraft Series. Betsy Detweiler has her life list ready. After being sheltered growing up due to health issues, Betsy is reading to grow and make new adventures. What better place to start then staying with her wonderful friends in beautiful Pinecraft, Fl. August Troyer becomes enamored with Betsy the minute she signs up for golf lessons. Being the son of missionaries, August has met many people but no one like Betsy. She is a walking contradiction. As they embark on a month long Life adventure, will they be able to overcome all the obstacles in their path to happiness? When tragedy strikes times 2, will August and Betsy see that living life and finding love require taking risks. I love all of the characters in this series. Even the secondary characters are given the chance to shine and learn. Danielle and Annie were a great set to add to Betsy's new friend list. I look for the the third book in this series. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

Having hope will give you courage Job 11:18

Betsy Detweiler has a bucket list and the only way she accomplish her bucket list is going to Pinecraft Florida, away from her community and family. She is staying with her friend and her new husband. Betsy suffers from asthma and her family has been over protected regarding her health. They would not approve of their daughter's fun list. At the top is golf and close second is learning to swim. It is these two adventures she meets some new friends.

To say the least August Troyer is amused by Betsy's request to learn golf. Being Amish himself and living with his aunt and uncle who own a golf course, he was volunteered to teach Betsy the fundamentals of golf. August becomes inspired Betsy's bucket list and realizes he needs to take some steps of faith himself when it comes to missionary parents.

Betsy also meets Annie and her sister Danielle. As sisters who are experiencing a season of life that needs a new purpose. Betsy offers her sister to give Betsy swimming lessons and swimming is not the only lesson learned.

It is only in relationships we can learn lessons of faith, hope and courage. It is amazing how these three virtues are so closely connected and how we need to feed them in our own lives.

A special thank you to Revell and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

"Her only Wish" is book 2 in this series set in Pinecraft, Florida, by Shelley Shepard Gray. This book is centered around Betsy and August. Betsy has health issues and comes up with a "Life List" of things she wants to do. One of them is going to Pinecraft. There she meets August and the story begins! I highly recommend this book, series and author.

Her Only Wish is book two in Shelley Shepard Gray’s Seasons in Pinecraft series. Betsy Detweiler returns to Pinecraft for a months vacation. She’s using this time away from her controlling parents to get the chance to do things on her Life List. Not to be confused with the bucket list, a Life List is things Betsy wants to learn to do like swimming or golfing. She never got much of an opportunity to do the kind of things that normal Amish teens did in their running around years. Health issues and Betsy’s controlling parents kept her away from her friends. Now that she has become a young adult Betsy hopes to grab the opportunity to try out things she missed when she was a kid. Being smitten by her handsome Amish Golf instructor wasn’t part of her plans.

I always enjoy Amish fiction that takes place in Pinecraft Florida. This is a popular vacation spot for the Amish and there’s an Amish saying about Pinecraft. “What goes on in Pinecraft stays in Pinecraft.” I throughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading this heart warming book. It was entertaining and romantic. I thought it was realistic because both good things and bad things happened to Betsy during her stay in Florida. The ending was a happy one and just the way I like to see a book end.

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and Women’s Fiction. If you have read book one you will want to read this book. This book can be read as a stand alone although characters are carried over from book one to book two. This book is scheduled to be released on 6/6/23.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I liked this book much better than the first in the series, maybe because it focused on fewer (and more likeable) people. Almost all the main Amish characters deal with issues concerning their parents. Separating from 'mamm and daed' and standing on one's own two feet is always hard, but these youngies have some difficult family relationships to deal with. I also like the theme of having a “life list” that was woven throughout this story. I would still label this series "young adult" due to its "Amish lite" feel. I received a copy of this gentle romance from Net Galley and was not required to post a review.
