Falling in love with a book that has “falling in love” in the title just seems extra, but extra is good and so is this book. It warms my heart

Tropes: miscommunications, small town farm, slow burn

This book was cute - I loved seeing the Polly and Mark’s character development in the book. There’s a huge miscommunication trope which is not typically my favorite. This book was truly a slow burn, but in the last 2 chapters, everything felt very rushed.

If your looking for a cute, hometown, novella- this is a good book for you!

I’m going the a farm girl phase and this hit the spot. Who doesn’t love proving themselves to others, one of my favorite tropes!

This was a sweet quick read. Some fantastic descriptions of the farm and I felt I was really there at times. Polly’s experience of feeding Bubble and Squeak was so identifiable. Maggie and John were great too. Slightly predictable but still a great read.

This is a feel good romance 😌💓 💕 💗!

Polly Pressman just been made redundant from her 9 till 5 with the firm called 'streamline', it now been four weeks since then, now she is pulling pints just to get by. But our novel really begins with a simple phone call📱 from her mother.

Polly has business skills that should help her mums friend John turn his failing farm around.
John Williams owns Nightingale Farm, which sits on 360 acres. One hour away from London in Kent.
Mark is John son and also lives on the farm, thinks the weight around his sholers', with lots of things that fixing and sorting out such as a fencing needs replacing, rickety chicken coops, Fields that are very overgrowth to name but a few.
However it does have 'one [field] that contained a small heard of cows. There was a large orchard full of apple🍎 pear 🍐 and plum trees' but there is 'a well tendered vegetable garden'.

Marks mother, Lynda, died 3 years ago and it takes him that long to state 'what a catastrophic mess the business was in.. He 'knew how much this farm had ment to his mother. Her family had worked it for generations'.

Can't afford regular staff John tell us that the main source of income 'I sell my veg, eggs and apples at local market but its just not enough'. It's frustrating as Polly can see 'so much potential'. They just get Maggie in to run a cafe in one of the outbuildings.

Sue John's sister does the account's for the farm. 'She'd agreed to provide the accounts for the farm for the last few years, but she hadn't been forthcoming'.

'Focus more on what your individual talents . For example for you, John, that's your gardening- stick with the farmers markets, but increase the size of the garden so you can so you can also sell your produce from a shop here.

'Nightingale Farm was truly special, it had taken her spending less than a day there to release that, and had a history and importance to John and Mark'.

Polly 'yearned for carm and quiet, for the gentle pace of Nightingale Farm she realised . That was where she wanted to be' not out in London where it was loud and full of people all around her. She also starts to realise she wants to be around Mark more and more.

Sister Julie still believes she works for old company. As does her mum and dad and turn up till the opening day.

However time passes on and John phones Polly sounding upset he asks her to come back as soon as possible, what could have happened to their farm? 🚜
I loved this novel and all the characters in it, can see it being the start of a series of books.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a complementary digital copy of this ebook in exchange for a full, frank and honest review. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

A wholesome, light, easy read!

Polly is a city girl, who’s recently been made redundant.

Mark is a carpenter who gave up his business to help on the family farm after his mum died, and his dad was struggling.

Their parents know each other and Polly’s mum suggests she helps the farm start getting back on its feet financially. Polly is reluctant but becomes captivated by the farm and agrees to help out, developing her own little love story along the way.

It’s a really wholesome, light read. The characters are loveable, and I loved the representation of feelings surrounding redundancy. John and Dylan had my heart, and the process of watching everything grow was heartwarming. I want to go and stay on Nightingale Farm!

I will admit I initially questioned the writing style and wondered if this book was for me in the first couple chapters as it was heavy scene setting. However, that was absolutely the right set up for the story.

Thank you for the opportunity to read!

A fairly reliable romance with a predictable story arc; you can work out the ending but the getting there is worth the journey. The characters are well rounded, with just enough jeopardy to make this an enjoyable read.

Fantastic, engaging feel-good story about Polly who's just lost her job but not yet told her parents as she's hoping she'll find a new one and not appear as a "failure".
Her mum introduces her to John, the owner of a struggling farm and asks Polly to try to help him turn the farm around assuming she'll be able to do it as part of the big company she's working for.

Knowing nothing about farming, Polly decides to make a good impression turning up at the farm in high heels - oh, yes, she's very much a city girl!

The slow romance part was a sweet read, but I wish the 'baddie' wouldn't have got off so lightly.

Perfect read for a lazy day when you need some happiness and feel-good vibes.

I rated this book a 4 because it was a good read, but I didn't immediately want to find other books from the author or go out and buy a paper copy. Although I would recommend it to my friends and followers.

I really liked this book. It was the perfect palate cleanser between harder reads. The story follows Polly as she helps out a friend of her mom's with his struggling farm. There of course is his very grumpy son to contend with. Perfect for anyone who gravitates towards the grump sunshine trope. I liked that this romance was relatively low stakes. The 3rd act twist wasn't as dramatic as other romances. Personally, I don't like when the main characters break up before the end after some horribly dramatic misunderstanding. So this brought just enough drama to keep you reading to the end. The characters were so likable too. I admire the female main character Polly. She managed to keep a roof over her head, work at the local pub, and basically take a business days away from bankruptcy to a thriving venture. There was also a fair about of cuteness that makes you go AWEEEE. I mean it's about a farm that has all sorts of cuddly animals and an extremely cute older man. There's nothing not to love about it. I blew through it in less than a day.

I received a free copy of, Falling in Love at Nightingale Farm, by Emma Bennett, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Polly is forced to help John save his farm, but John does not want help from Polly. Polly falls in love with Nightingale Farm, but not John. I liked this story, Polly is a strong female character, I liked her and Mark together.

This was a sweet cozy read that I wanted to like but didn’t quite make it. Polly was difficult to like because she kinda came off as a kid instead of an adult. It was a bit slow and then felt rushed to wrap it all up.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for this ARC. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~

A very cute read. My only complaint is the romance felt a bit rushed, particularly at the end. Also an evil character just seemed to get away with quite a bit in the book! I felt they really needed some justice. Polly and Mark were cute together. I enjoyed reading about the farm updates.

Falling In Love At Nightingale Farm is the first book I have seen by this author, so I wasn’t sure going in what to expect.

The cute cover and promising blurb drew me in initially, but sadly the content failed to impress.

I had issues with the POV in this book, it is told from the main female character (Polly) POV, in the third person. The issue I had was that there was no use of pronouns. At all. Even when there were multiple characters in one scene. It made for a very confusing read, trying to work out who was actually saying what.

To me, Polly came across more as a teenager than a supposedly successful businesswoman as well, which did nothing to help me as a reader connect with her character.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Falling in Love at Nightingale Farm by Emma Bennet

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Polly Pressman just got fired from her hectic 9–5 job in London. She’s pulling pints in a dingy pub to pay the rent when she gets a phone call that changes everything.

Her mum begs her to help an old family friend, John, with his struggling farm down in Kent. Polly’s business skills might be just the thing to turn the place around.

Polly arrives at Nightingale Farm trying to make a good impression in her best pair of heels, when she hears a furious shout. A very angry but not entirely unattractive man strides forcefully towards her, demanding to know why she left the gate open.

John’s gruff-but-hunky son Mark thinks Polly clearly has no business being on a farm. She’s a city girl — what can she possibly know about mucking out animals?

My Opinion

This is a sweet and cosy, quick read. When Polly arrives at Nightingale Farm John and Mark are struggling financially, can Polly help them? This is an ideal book to get lost in for a few hours. If you want a quick escape to the countryside then this is a book you should give a read.

Can you make it through this book without wanting to spend some time on a farm?

Rating 4/5
