A sweet short love story about saving a family farm. I enjoyed this quick read and the fun characters at Nightingale farm.

I really wanted to visit nightingale farm as the author wrote about it so vividly I could imagine I was there. The storyline is lovely, the characters were a joy to meet and to go on their journey of love, friendship, happiness and romance.

This is my first novel by Emma Bennett but it was the cover that drew me to her book about Polly - a girl who has lost her job. I admit that this type of books, set on a farm is something I love reading.

However, thanks to her mum, she is handed the opportunity, or maybe a lifeline. Nightingale Farm was once a thriving family business, but shortly Polly finds herself travelling down the farm where everything changes. Polly is loyal, hardworking, kind, generous and has a heart as big as the sky,

Walking into John and Mark's life she not only falls in love with the farm, but also the animals but the people who she meets, This beautifully written, fourteen chapter book, is one you will not be ale to put down. It will make you smile as you see how Polly really does transform these people's lives. Second chances and trusting other people is at the heart of the narrative.

For Polly coming into the world of the farm brings a whole load of baggage, One is the fact she's lost her job, secondly she terrifed of telling her family of what has happened. I wanted her to get rid of that fear and be able to open up. Does she do that? I'm not going to spoil the surprise for you as where is the fun in that?

Boldwood Books always seems to find stories that are not beautiful written, with great attention to detail, You can picture being there, hearing the words but also hating characters from the moment they are introduced. However saying that, I did feel the book could be made longer with POV's from Mark, the romantic lead, to see more as they worked on the plans to bring the farm back to life and back to profit. It was a short book which could have been much longer. I would have liked to see or hear Mark's thought throughout the book as I feel it could have done with it, as it wasn;t completed somehow.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for giving me early access to my first Emma book. I for one will be watching for more of her books.

This is a a brand-new to me author so I really didn't know what to expect, but the cover was delightful and I loved the premise, so I dove in.

We start off with a perfect grumpy-sunshine, Mark and Polly's meet cute had me grinning ear to ear and I was SO excited to see these two dingdongs flail around before falling in love. Truth be told, it was more like a grumpy-anxious than grumpy-sunshine which ... let's be honest, is more relatable. I was positively giddy as I soared through all the awkwardness. Mark is a quiet country boy who's always working and glowering, with his sleeves rolled up, natch. I was positively thrumming with excitement until their first kiss and then -I'm not sure what happened. They both pull away after a miscommunication but it never resolves for the entire second act. Where did the romance go? At about the 70% mark I was pretty sure this was women's lit instead because the entire focus of the book is on Polly at this point and there is zero relationship building, because there is zero relationship.

The black moment is very black, the antagonist is beyond unlikeable, which is super effective! I mean you end up hating this person, so that's successful. But with the lack of humor overall in the book, it felt super heavy and I was anxious to get through this part, especially because we didn't have an actual romance cooking along to buffer it. The story arc finally comes back around to the romance at the very end and you get an HEA in the epilogue.

As far as heat level, this book features two kisses as love scenes and that's it. There isn't even closed door or implied door, there is no door. On the bright side, this would be very suitable for a younger romance enthusiast, but was too tepid for my taste. I wanted slow burn, anguished looks, accidentally uncomfortable seating arrangements up the wazoo where you could really feel the attraction building. You don't need lovemaking on the page for it to feel intense, but something has to happen. Instead, feelings happened in exposition instead of encounters on the page.

I loved the world building of the farm, I wanted to be there in front of the Aga cooker with my feet up and the dog at my feet, I wanted to feed the baby lambs and get coffee from Maggie's shop and pet the soft grey bunnies. She did an amazing job of creating this place and it's very soothing and swoony in its own right, I just wish that kind of focus had been given to the romance.

Thank you so much to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A beautiful love story set between London and the Kent countryside .Polly had not told her family she had lost her job and when a family friend wrote to ask for help it all snowballed. It al worked out in the end with Nightingale farm being saved. You had twists and turns but it was a really lovely story. A perfect feel good read.

This was a touching love story that made me want to go visit a local farm with a petting zoo, cute coffee shop, and strawberry picking. You learn early on that the main character, Polly, has a “situation” that she’s keeping from her family. This is a huge part of the story and was a nice added twist. I noticed that Polly likes to really read into situations & people and she’s well organized when it comes to her job duties - all things I can relate to which helped me establish a connection to her character. I definitely recommend this book - 4 stars! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing the e-ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.

Firstly, the description for this book is incorrect and for a completely different book. I enjoyed this read though and found it a light hearted, quick, easy, feel good kind of read. I really liked the two main characters Polly and Mark who meet when Polly goes to Nightingale Farm under false pretences to help Mark and his father turn a struggling farm into a successful, profit making one. The book has a cast of likeable characters with the exception of one who I couldn’t take to. It was written well and pulled me in from the first page to the last. It didn’t wow me though or have me desperate to know what was coming next - overall it was a good read and I’d probably read more books from this author.

3.5 stars

This is a very charming romance novel. The kind you can get lost in on a Sunday afternoon or on a beach holiday. The characters are delightful, as is the setting and premise. It’s the first time I’ve read a novel by this Author and won’t be the last.

Thank you to the Author, Publisher and NetGalley for the complimentary digital ARC and the opportunity to give an honest review of the story

Polly has lost her job but her family don't know; when one of her mum's friends reaches out with an opportunity, Polly decides she can make it work. As she helps turn Nightingale Farm a profit, she gains much more in the process.

This is a really easy, feel good read; the characters are likeable, the setting idyllic and the story a nice bit of escapism. There's nothing ground breaking about the plot, but it warms your soul as only a nice formulaic romance can!! I enjoyed reading a story set in the UK, it's a charming read.

This book has introduced me, not only to a brand new author but to Joffe books as well! A very sweet little read and just what I needed. I like the characters and think they could absolutely appear in a sequel as well if the author wanted. A good read that doesn't always go the predictable route. Very much enjoyed. Thanks to the author and Netgalley for a temporary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The book description on NG doesn't match the book itself at all....not sure what happened there. This book is about an out of work woman who hires herself out on false pretenses to save a family farm.

A nice, lighthearted read.

Had a nice cast of characters! Well, mostly! There was one horrible character I really disliked from the moment said person made their first appearance.

Thank you to Emma, NetGalley and publishers Joffe Books for the chance to read this book.

I requested this based on the plot description in NetGalley, and quickly realized the description and book have nothing to do with one another. Not sure where the error was, but the book that actually downloaded was a sweet of short story about a struggling farm, a woman struggling with career issues and being honest about them., and her relationship with the farm’s owners. It was a quick but enjoyable read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, how I love second chance romances. This was the perfect amount of cuteness, humor, and parts where i wanted to squeal at how I enjoyed this. I’d willingly read more of the author’s work!

Very excited to see this title was up for one of the Read Now titles. It was listed as a mystery/thriller, but I’m thinking that may be a mistake. I love the rockstar returns to hometown troupe. And throw an ex wife in their it definitely adds quite the storyline. I ant wait to enter Kate and Joes world and see if they get their happy ending. I will be sharing a full review soon. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this book. The cover is also gorgeous as well.

Newly divorced Kate just wants a quiet life with her son Charlie now that she’s single. She’s not looking for love, but then an old schoolfriend turns up on her doorstep out of the blue.

He’s not just Joe anymore, he’s world-famous rock star Joseph Wild. And he’s looking to rent one of Kate’s cozy converted barns so he can hide out from the paparazzi after his own break-up.

Joseph is just the same sweet, funny boy that Kate remembers, only now he’s more than a little bit sexy! He comes round for dinner every night and gets on wonderfully with Charlie. But he couldn’t possibly be interested in Kate, could he . . . ?

Soon the pair realize the strength of their attraction for each other — it feels like they’re meant to be. But then Joseph’s ex-wife shows up and spoils everything.

Can Joseph leave behind his glamorous lifestyle — and his murky past — and settle for a quiet life with Kate in the Devon countryside? If the couple are truly meant to be, Kate must convince Joseph that she’s the one for him.

This uplifting feel-good romance is perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan, Holly Martin, Teresa F. Morgan, Helen Rolfe and Julie Shackman.
