Mel owns a nail salon and is privy to all the juicy gossip from her customers.

Sue is the detective working the case of missing teenager Anna.

You'll discover that Mel is not just a manicurist but so much more. You'll learn that Sue has a lot going on in her own life.

This one is packed with love to hate characters and a few you just love. Twisty and intriguing! Couldn't read fast enough to get the answers I needed.

My mouth will be firmly closed at my next nail appointment. If you read it you will know what I mean by that.

Thanks to netgalley and One More Chapter for the arc.

Everyone has secrets, and just like the local bartender of the past, the nail lady is the keeper of secrets nowadays. When a teenage girl goes missing, DCI Sue Fischer is assigned to the task of finding her before it’s too late.
Triggers: child abuse, domestic violence
There are a lot of twists and a lot of them are very dark. The characters didn’t really develop any so it was hard to get to like them. I think maybe the author could have pulled back a bit and it would have made for a better story.

Although this book kept my attention, im not sure I really enjoyed it. There was way too much going on and the links between characters and plots was flimsy (although entertaining). The endings of several of the characters was disappointing and so much more could have been done with character development, especially if the plot was less complicated/intertwined.
Maybe a good quick beach read though

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading The Nail Salon as the title gave me vibes of glitz and glam and lots of gossip but it was everything but that. It was really good with lots of twists and turns and in part some of the subject matter was hard to read but all in all a really good book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

This book started out as a guilty pleasure of gossip but quickly developed into a dark thriller. There are a lot of intense storylines and definitely some elements that may be triggering for some readers but overall, I found it an engaging read.

**TRIGGER WARNING** Domestic abuse. Child grooming. Suicide. Sexual abuse. Animal abuse. Self-harm.

In a pristine suburb outside of London everything and everyone is perfect.... on the surface. But then one of their own - an innocent teenage girl - goes missing, and DCI Sue Fisher and her team start to investigate the secrets and lies of an international web of bored housewife's cheating husbands, and disaffected teens. Now, as the veneer of perfection starts to chip away, dark secrets rise to the fall of the mighty and a community is brought to its knees.

The topics raised in this chilling thriller are prevalent to the social ills in society today. I did not know what I was expecting when I picked up this book, but I was surprised when I started reading it. Melanie owns the local nail salon, and she knows everything that's going on but would never share any information she hears. DCI Sue Fisher has personal problems and now she is tasked with find a young girl. The characters are a mixed bunch, and the story is told from multiple points of view. This is quite a dark read that won't be for everyone due to some of the contents. There's a few twists and turns but you do have to suspend your beliefs for some parts. I did enjoy this story and I would read from this author again.

When I started with this story, I was completely clueless as to what it was about. It’s more of a mystery/detective novel in a gossiping neighbourhood tale, than it is a thriller. Although that is crucial to the storyline. A shout out for the two police officers who are both extremely likeable although all the characters are well portrayed.

This was certainly an intense crime, thriller mystery. I enjoyed the dual pov, as we delved deeper into the psyche of a deeply disturbed person and the detective, determined to find her.

The Nail Salon is a book that really took me by surprise, I was expecting to not really enjoy it as I thought it was just going to be gossiping women but boy how wrong I was and it was nothing like that at all and I loved it.
Melanie is the owner of the local salon, she knows who’s doing what with who but would never share what she’s been told. A young girl has gone missing and DCI Sue Fisher is on the case, as well as trying to find this girl she has personal problems of her own that she’s not going to tell anyone about.
This is a book I’ve read and am not going to say anymore about the plot as it will spoil it but take it from me this is definitely worth a read. Lots of twists and turns, some I would never have even thought of but worked so well. The ending seemed a little rushed but it gave me all the answers to my questions so it not that much of a minus.

If I have to sum up this review in a sentence, I will say: DROP EVERYTHING AND GO READ THIS BOOK ASAP!! Absolutely mind-blowing, gob smacking, astounding, fantabulous, (and all the other adjectives!!) thriller.

I was hooked from start to finish and couldn't put it down until the end. Just when I thought "Ah, this new piece of information is going to lead them to the perp..." a twist. Unexpected and totally shocking twist.

There are two PoVs in this story: Melinda, our narrator; DCI Sue and all the other characters. Each character has an interesting side story. If I have to choose a favorite character, no doubt I would choose Melinda. I felt bad for her, and at the same time, what she was doing to the young girls was nothing less than creepy and heartless. But how was she to know that it's not love?

Excellent storytelling. The Nail Salon is Natalie's debut novel. I am out of words to describe this mind-blowing thriller, filled with twists at every nook and corner. The final twist - something to do with Melinda - was totally unexpected. I read it thrice, four times... just to make sure I read it right.

If you are looking for an edge-of-your-seat thriller filled with twists and turns, you HAVE to read The Nail Salon by Natalie Tambini.

Melinda owns a nail salon in like most people in an intimate service she gets told many secrets there’s a woman named Clica or at least on Thursdays she is the other days of the week she’s a husband and father of two and is being blackmailed by her brother after he found out about her Thursday escapades. Then there’s Susie she’s the mother of the twins Sky and Star and the unhappy wife to Simon. Susie and her twins go to Melinda’s to get their nails done. One day when the twins were in Melinda heard Sky talk about a date with a guy named Daniel and fearing for the girls safety she decides to try and intercede on the girls behalf. When she doesn’t see Sky she’s in raged at the waste of her time but we’re going to get back on the train she sees a young girl in the alley crying. She soon find out her name is Ann and she’s run away from home convincing to go back to hers just to be safe she agrees. Melinda has done this before but the previous two girls would never look for this time her prey comes from a posh affluent family and they are relentless to find her. Due to Melinda‘s own mental illness she feels the pressure. The case is being investigated by DCI sue Fisher, Who has a character I really liked but found her backstory to be hard to buy into she’s supposedly a victim of domestic abuse and although she is paid to bring these types of people to jail and she considers the monsters she seems to totally understand her husband robs reason for beating her. This really was a good read and although it seems you know the whole story… You really don’t because there’s a twist! I would really love to see a crime mystery Siri‘s with DCI Sue in Mike I loved the relationship and could see that developing into something more. I am really not a big fan of stories that tell the story as it goes on but this was a really good one and wasn’t expecting the surprise at the end. I received this book from NetGalley and Harper but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

The Nail Salon will knock your socks off! You start reading what you think is a fluffy gossipy story about a stereotypical nail salon, but boy are you wrong! What is so brilliant about the book is the style is original and not what you're expecting at all, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes. A great mix of police procedural and housewife thriller.

This was full of grit, thrill, suspense, mystery and up scale intrigue. I have to be honest, I had judged this on its cover…then I read it and found it to be SO MUCH better then the cheesy cover let on.

I really liked this and thought the premise was original and well done.

Dark and twisty, The Nail Salon is set in an affluent London suburb where owner Mel, fulfils a dual role. Not only does she file and paint nails, she is a confidant to the bored rich housewives who book appointments with her. And it’s clear in the majority of cases, beyond their extravagant lifestyles, there is often trouble in paradise.
When Anna, the fifteen year old daughter of one of these wealthy families disappears, it brings DCI Sue Fisher into the area to make enquiries. As Sue, a woman who has her own problems living with an abusive partner, investigates, some shocking discoveries are made. With each revelation the author cleverly teases the reader, taking them in one direction and then another. So many suspects are living behind those locked gates, many of them guilty of some awful things, but not, it appears, the abduction of Anna.
The characterisation is excellent – so many love-to-hate characters. It’s an addictive read with a highly believable plot that is difficult to put down and a huge twist at the end I honestly didn't see coming. A great read. Highly recommended.

Welcome to The Nail Salon. A place where you can sit back relax have a manicure and confess your secrets to your friendly manicurist.

Just be careful what secrets you reveal. As this manicurist isn't as friendly as she seems.

But then neither are the customers.

In a glamorous suburb in the outskirts of London. Where appearances are everything. Yet behind closed doors nothing is what it seems.

And when a teenage girl is reported missing. All those secrets bubble to the surface. Even those of the DCI tasked to investigate.

And with a great plot and some twists and turns. This was an interesting thriller. That deals with some tough and disturbing issues along the way.

This was a twisty book that I read in one sitting. The synopsis doesn’t really tell you much, but you’ll get surprise after surprise throughout the book. It centers on a bunch of rich people in London, one a teenage girl who goes missing. Melinda owns a nail salon and is right in the middle of all the gossip and drama, but turns out she is hiding secrets of her own. You also get an alternating storyline focused on the detective, Sue, who is trying to find the missing teenager.

While focused on the lifestyles of the rich and pampered, this is by no means a light read. There are a ton of deaths, and storylines covered include multiple types of abuse, mental illness, and pedophilia. Somehow the author manages to make the book not too heavy despite all this. There are many surprises throughout the book- I could not put it down because I didn’t know what could possibly be coming next.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. I am not often surprised by twists, but it got me a few times. Definitely not a light read but a very interesting one. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Natalie Tambini's The Nail Salon had me hooked from page one. The plot centres around a mix of characters devoid of any stereotypes who find reprieve in Melanie's Nail Salon. The owner is aware of her customers' lies, secrets and betrayals and keeps each revelation close to her chest. However, her path crosses with the formidable DCI Sue Fisher, whose reputation is iron-clad with respect and reverence. However, appearances can be extremely deceptive as Sue is battling the wrath of her domestic circumstances. Told from multiple POVs, this book is fused with multiple unexpected twists and turns and delivers a memorable yet shocking ending. I must admit that this read was darker than most thrillers and police procedurals. Readers must be aware of multiple trigger warnings, including domestic abuse, animal abuse, suicide and self-harm. Do not skip this book if you're looking for an unconventional plot, gripping prose and a shocking ending.
