A sweet story about two people with difficult history that find friendship and perhaps love with each other. But lies and secrets risk what they are building. A nice story.

The unique setting of a Cornish lighthouse makes for a perfect summer read.
Centring on 3 generations of women - Iris, the grandmother, Sally, the mother and Eden, the daughter - there are lots of family secrets
Took me a while to get into the story of Eden and Levan, but you ended up hoping they will stay together.
Also loved the fab loveable character of Iris and her controversial storyline
A well written book with lots to keep you engaged
Thanks @phillipa.ashleyauthor, @avonbooksuk & @netgalley for the eARC

This is the perfect summer read. The lighthouse background is so interesting and tied up intrinsically with Eden's family. Three generations of her family are all featured and the strength of their family ties adds to the heartwarming appeal. As secrets from the past emerge, you see just how strong these ties are.
Eden is someone with past relationship issues but she has started again, with her family's support and set up her pop up coffee shop. Although her chemistry with Levan is clear from the start, it also seems that he has past issues which he has tried to get away from. This is superb uplifting reading which engages and leaves you wondering what could happen next.
In short: family secrets
Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book

A Secret Cornish Summer by @phillipa.ashleyauthor a NetGalley review. Congratulations @phillipa.ashleyauthor on todays publication day. Eden find it hard to trust men after her husband betrayed her, however a new neighbour arrives and she’s immediately drawn to him and as much as he fights it, he’s drawn to her and her family. The he being Levan who had his own secrets, secrets that may make it hard for Eden to trust him. From the start I found this book intriguing, it felt different from the authors previous books, it had this immediate air of mystery around it. I also found throughout the book that this book was more focused on the characters and less about the place where the story was set, hope that makes sense. For me at times it felt like one king conversation between the cast of characters, I missed the descriptive side of the authors story telling. At times it felt like rather than being ingrained in the story and it’s characters, I was sitting on the edge of this story, expecting more and I don’t write that lightly as I love this author and don’t mean it negatively. I loved the cast of characters, especially Iris, Edens Grandmother, whom is strong, confident and not afraid to say what she thinks but holds her own secrets. Eden like I said had been hurt before but at times she came across as naive, wearing rose tinted glasses, especially when Levan explains her doesn’t get on with his family and Eden is shocked, seemingly believing that all families get on. However having got to the end of the book, despite feeling all the above, I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it. It is a book you have to keep with, as everything makes sense in the end. I stand by my belief that it had a different feel to the authors previous books, but weather new to this author or already a fan I have no doubt that you will enjoy this book. I hate writing anything that may seem negative about any books I read, even more so when I’m such a fan of the author, @phillipa.ashleyauthor even though I felt these things and stand by them i undoubtably ended up enjoying this story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With engaging characters and a vibrant setting, this Summer story full of emotion and family secrets is a lovely read. Coffee roasting, lighthouse keeping, property management and security surveillance are all explored throughout this novel, making it informative too. Centred on three generations of women, it is full of emotion and family secrets. There's friendship, romance, and a lovely thread of humour to balance the heartbreak and poignant moments. The Cornish coast is a vivid location, and the author captures the savagery and spirit of it. It's the perfect holiday read with believable characters, secrets and a coastal setting.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I love how detailed Phillipa's books are, set in the wonderful place of Cornwall. Eden and Levan connect from the start, even though Levan's appearance is mysterious.
The story is twisted with secrets and it grips you into the mystery.
The romance is a slow burner but beautiful.
A thoroughly enjoyable Summer read.

I warmed to this story immediately, loving the characters, setting and plot. I always know I am in for a good read with a Phillipa Ashley, but I think this is one of my favourites for a while.

Opening the story with Nan and Granddaughter, Iris and Eden, spying on their new neighbour doing a headstand in his Speedos, you know there is going to be chemistry from the beginning. The chiselled body of Levan and his gorgeous face is sure to set readers tingling – along with Eden.

As the plot develops, I liked how both Eden and Levan became such interesting characters. Eden’s past comes back to haunt her and I enjoyed seeing how her successful coffee business is thriving. In fact, it made a refreshing change to read about a business that was not baking-based, as this seems to be a common theme in this genre of book.

Similarly, Levan’s past dominates his behaviour and it turns out that he has plenty of secrets too. Levan and Eden are irrevocably drawn to each other and I loved seeing how supportive Levan becomes, immersing himself easily into Eden’s close family life. The love that exists between the three generations of women – Iris, Sally and Eden – was heart-warming and it felt like Levan was the missing piece of the puzzle from the beginning. Like I was drawn to Eden’s personality, Iris was equally fascinating and such a strong character, despite her older age. I often forgot how old she was because Iris was so vivacious and loving. On reflection, I guess it was a bit of a shame that Eden’s mother, Sally, was not equally dominating, but I think this would have lessened the impact of the other leading characters.

The Cornish setting added appeal to the story. The symbolism of the lighthouses to Eden’s family came to represent the love and support that Eden grew up with. Although her past seemed to have rocked her world (no pun intended!), it was like Eden was coming to harbour with Levan’s arrival. Despite being from different backgrounds, they are certainly and perfect match and I could not wait to see their connection develop.

I enjoyed every minute of this book, finding the pages slip by effortlessly. It was an easy yet immersive read that was delightful throughout. A great summer read, a perfect holiday book and, quite frankly, a little bit of escapism, this is not one to be missed.

With thanks to Avon books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. It is a standalone novel set on a peninsula in Cornwall. The book features a family who were lighthouse keepers. I am always fascinated by lighthouses and love reading about them.
Eden was a lovely character and deserves a HEA. Levan was an interesting character who was obviously hiding a secret.
There were in fact a lot of secrets in this book, a little danger, some intrigue as well as some humour and plenty of heartwarming moments. This book certainly kept my interest.
This is a very good read and I recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

A Secret Cornish Summer is the perfect summer read. It's packed full of wonderful scenery plus a whole host of loveable character (and some not so loveable too!)

Eden has moved back to live with her mum after a hard time with her ex. She's set up her own coffee roasting business and cafe, and is starting to make a life for herself. Enter new neighbour Levan, the mysterious IT expert who practices yoga in his speedos!

Levan is escaping from his own troubled past, which is revealed in delectable chunks as you read through the book. The burgeoning relationship between Eden and Levan, and in fact Levan and all of his new friends, is delightful to read.

A good story set on a Cornish peninsula centring around a lighthouse and the women of the men who manned it - grandmother, mother and daughter. Eden, the daughter, moves home after discovering her husband was a con artist, and builds up her own coffee roasting business. A new neighbour, Levan, moves in next door and there is more to him than meets the eye! Can they both learn to trust again?
A good read but a little bit slow at times, how were you need to keep reading until the end! .

Whenever I hear about a new Phillipa Ashley book being published, I need to read it. I absolutely loved the previous Cornish Summer series set in Falford and this one was just as good.

Eden has had a hard time in her last relationship and is most definitely not wanting to get involved with anyone else.

So when the handsome Levan moves in next door, she is wary of getting too close.

They soon form a friendship but both of them are hiding secrets. Can their friendship survive?

Set in a beautiful location, based around a lighthouse, this book will have you dreaming of the coastline of Cornwall. The writing is so descriptive, I could almost hear the waves crashing on the rocks as I was reading.

I just can't wait for more in this amazing series.

The perfect summer read for on the beach.

Once again Phillipa Ashley spins a gripping tale of love and secrets... I love her books and always welcome the next story to sit comfortably with a cuppa on my favourite chair!.
Eden bless her, has had a tough time in the love stakes. She was with a husband who was a stranger to the truth and when all his secrets came out, she was left with nothing. She had to move back with her mum and start again. Luckily for her, she had the drive to start a new coffee business
and has built it up well and is making a living from it.
A gorgeous man moves in next door, but her granny noticed him first!. In fact, they are caught spying on him!!. He introduces himself as Levan, and he workes from home in I.T. They start to get closer, but there are secrets between them that need to be told if they have any chance of a relationship......
Oh boy!. What a corker!!. What an engrossing book!. I took it everywhere I went, and read it in twenty four hours!!. You'll love it!!.
I received a free ARC book for an honest review.

Another excellent summery read from Phillipa. Well researched and plotted with Cornish sunshine and a taste of coffee.

After her ex-husband left her devastated and homeless Eden returned home to her family’s cottage on the Cornish coast. Having re-built herself and started a successful café and coffee roasting business, Eden is settled but determined never to let a man get close to her again.
Then Levan moves in next door. Handsome, toned and a little mysterious, Eden instantly puts her barriers up. However, as Eden and her family get to know him, those barriers slowly begin to crumble.
As long buried secrets begin to surface is Eden going to regret letting Levan in or will she end the summer with her heart in one piece.
A lovely story of family, love and the secrets that can either break or strengthen those bonds. It will make you want to pack up and spend your summer in Cornwall.

Set in Cornwall on a beautiful peninsula with a lighthouse, this book has many interesting characters who hold their secrets closet to their hearts.
Three generations of strong women have lived in the lighthouse cottage whilst their husbands and fathers tended the lamps. Iris and sally lost a son and husband respectively, and Eden, proud of her heritage had her confidence broken by her ex husband.
When Levan moves into the cottage next door he brings his own secrets and exposes long buried secrets from the lighthouse family.
I found this an interesting read, slow at times but with so many secrets I had to read to the end.

Eden lives with her mother in a cottage next to a lighthouse in Cornwall, since her ex-husband betrayed her she has struggled with making relationships with men. This is thrown into confusion when Leven, a Speedo wearing stranger, moves in next door.
I'll always read a book set in Cornwall and especially one by this author. I really felt for Eden with all that she had been through, but Levan has his own issues that are gradually revealed during the book. Ivy, Eden's grandmother, is a real character, but also has secrets of her own. Throw in a touch of cloak and dagger to the romance and the story kept me hooked all the way through. Definitely recommended.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influenced my review of the book.

I was excited to see this new book by one of my ‘go to’ authors appear on my kindle. I knew I was in for a treat in a beautiful location. This time, the author took me back to Cornwall. I was hooked from the very first page and quickly devoured the rest of the story.

This story centres on the Cornish seaside village of Hartstone, and in particular mother and daughter Sally and Eden, who live in one of a row of cottages adjacent to the lighthouse where Eden’s father and grandfather were once keepers. Eden runs a coffee roastery, processing beans for her own coffee shop and an increasing number of local businesses. She is recovering from a bad experience with a cheating ex-husband and is not interested in any relationships with the opposite sex. However, when a handsome new neighbour, Levan, moves in, she, Sally and grandmother Iris, are intrigued to find out all about him. He is determined to keep himself to himself, but is gradually drawn into the lives of his welcoming neighbours. In spite of everything, Eden and Levan are attracted to each other, but he has a secret that he fears, if revealed, will destroy their growing relationship. It transpires that he is not the only one with a secret, this one with far reaching consequences for Eden and her mum.

Oh, I did enjoy this story, which was more than a romance, with its generous helping of dark and even official secrets and hint of danger. There were only a few characters, but these were all strong and interesting. I admired Eden for her fortitude in picking herself up after having been treated so shabbily by her ex. As for Levan, what a heroic specimen he turned out to be! The setting of the story couldn’t fail to attract the reader; I for one would love to be walking along by the sea admiring the lighthouse. I think this must be one of my favourite Phillipa Ashley books, and one which I’m sure will be enjoyed by many this summer.

Absolutely loved this book right from the beginning. I definitely think this is Phillipa's best book yet. I felt like I knew all the characters personally they were that well written. The story involving a lighthouse and family of old was something I really enjoyed.
