Having a bread maker on the shelf but not getting the use. This book got me reaching for it and trying out some new breads. Easy to follow and plenty of options so it will keep giving inspiration for a while yet.
This book was a great motivator for me to start using my new breadmaker! Clear and easy to follow instructions and some good tips and tricks. I thought the variety in the recipes shared also made this a great read for beginners and more experienced bakers. A solid beginner cookbook!
This book is the jumpstart we needed to finally use the bread machine we were gifted. The instructions are clear and accessible, making it so readers aren't intimated by the many options and various types of bread possible. And it doesn't matter what type of machine you have, the author helps you navigate what you need to know. Especially helpful was the troubleshooting aspect, which served as a perfect reminder that we'll figure it out along the way.
Many of us have an inner fear that holds us back, worrying that if something doesn't happen perfectly the first time then we messed it up or wasted a chance. (Yes I'm working on it in therapy, lol) In our house, that feeling kept the bread machine sitting on the kitchen shelf for months. Until we read this book, written for beginners like us (we were extra overwhelmed because we were given a bread maker as a gift without ever considering getting one or researching them before lol), and written by an expert who had done the bread machine thing many, many times under various conditions, addressing all the ways it could go wrong AND that we could fix them. It opened up a world that felt more comfortable and safe to go ahead and try. Like suddenly however the bread turned out, this book would have the answer --and a really great recipe selection to experiment with, too!
We haven't ventured into the not-bread creations yet, but we will!!
This book got me to bring my bread-maker down from the top of my kitchen cabinets and start making bread once a week! I still have many loaves to try, but the first few that I have tried so far have been great!
Bread Machine Baking for Beginners: Effortless Perfect Bread by Beth Hensperger was so fun! Santa brought me a bread maker this Christmas and i’ve already made several recipes from this book! I felt so lucky to get a copy for myself! I have shared on my goodreads, bookstagram, and booktok!
Interesting and highly informative. Good enough for beginners and advanced users of bread machines. Each page has relevant information in baking and using the machine that makes it a useful reference.
This book did a great job of explaining the basics. It wasn't my favorite baking book that I have read. However, there were some decent tips and tricks to follow. Overall, I would say this is an average baking book. I was super excited because I LOVE bread so I thought this would be a great resource. It was about average. It has some great recipes. I will definitely try out. I would still say it is worth your time if you are a beginner (which is exactly who this book is for).
I have been using my bread machine for many years now so I am not really a beginner but I still enjoyed this cookbook very much. If you have only been pondering a purchase, this book can help you choose the bread machine for you! The recipes included cover a wide variety of breads including basic white bread, whole wheat, sourdough, and even some untraditional flavors including chocolate! If you are a beginning baker, a wannabe bread baker, or are just looking for a variety of yummy recipes for your machine, this cookbook is for you.
I love books that make learning a new skill easy and not intimidating. This is one of those. The author wants you to learn and feel comfortable making many types of bread with the help of your trusty bread machine. I love that it starts off with the basics including getting to know the bread machine and it's cycles. From there it dives into some beginner recipes and works you up from there. This is the perfect book to give to someone who is just starting with a bread machine or got one as a gift but has kept it in storage for way too long.
So many people I know took up baking bread over these recent years. For some it was with a machine. This handy volume provides ideas and inspires me to get the devein out of the garage and get back to it. Thanks.
Bread Machine Baking for Beginners : Effortless Perfect Bread is the perfect book to buy for anyone just starting to bake using a bread machine. It will even help you select the type of bread machine you buy. The beginning chapters provide lots of information and help you understand how versatile and easy to use your bread machine is. The recipe chapters include white, wholegrain, sour dough, and sweet breads. The only problem I found was some of the ingredients were primarily aimed at the US market and are not readily available in the UK, for example gluten. All the measurements are also in the US cup sizes. As long as you are happy to substitute and find the conversions there isn't a problem. Overall a useful book.
If you want to learn how to make bread with a bread machine, this is the perfect book for you. The first section gives detailed information about bread machines including its cycles and settings. Then it goes into the bread making process with explanations about ingredients and the different stages of the baking process. There are three recipes in the beginning section that provide detailed directions in order to familiarize the reader with common bread machine techniques (standard dough, starter dough, and dough with a delayed timer). Once the reader is familiar with the basic techniques, there many recipes to try including white/egg breads, country/sourdough breads, specialty flour breads, breads with add-ins, sweet breads, and quick breads. There is also a short section with problem solving tips. Using my bread machine, I made milk bread (standard dough), shepherd's bread (starter dough), and cinnamon swirl bread (sweet bread). The milk bread and shepherd's bread were good but the cinnamon swirl bread was considered a family favorite. I think this book will give beginners the confidence to understand and use their bread machines to make wonderful, healthy breads.
* I received this book free of charge from NetGalley
As a bread lover, this book was just what I needed to jump start my journey to making my own bread! I love how simple it is to follow the contents of this book and I was very much inspired to make my own loaf of bread! Great starting point for beginners!
Bread Machine Baking for Beginners by Beth Hensperger is a concise book explaining all aspects of making bread in your bread machine. She discusses the various features found on a multitude of machines. She educates the read on the different types of yeast, flour and other ingredients so that each loaf of bread comes out successful. I learned so much from this book and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in pulling out their bread machine. Definitely worth a read.
I would like to thank the author, Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press, New Shoe Press and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was given a bread machine and I tend to stick to the same recipes that came with the instruction booklet. I wanted to be more adventurous with my bread machine
I often make different types of bread by hand that i put in the oven. However i like just throwing the ingredients in and letting the machine do the work. It is also cheaper to use the bread machine than the oven.
I am in the UK and the book has American cup sizes. I have a couple of American recipe books so I already have American cups to use. The only issue that I had was that most of the recipes called for gluten. This is not something that I have come across in the UK. I couldn't find any in the shops so I assumed that Strong bread flour would be suitable as this is what I previously used. This works okay without any extra gluten being used.
This is an interesting book with clear, easy to follow instructions.
Typical bread making recipes a few ideas on giving them a modern twist. a few ok photos of bread the recipes are ok to follow.
I love my bread machine and this cookbook is great! Very informative recipes but the instructions are easy to follow.
This was such a delightful read! I really enjoyed seeing all of the different things I could make. The instructions were informative but easy to understand. Also the pictures were so beautiful and gave a great representation on the items to make. Great read!
I am a cookbook fanatic! I love cookbooks of all types and enjoy looking at them for inspiration or old favorites.
Bread Machine Baking for Beginners is a fantastic cookbook not just for beginners but all levels of skill.
I was impressed with the beginning of the book where it gave so much useful information about your bread machine. It also was loaded with everything your machine can do for you and how to use the controls of the machine.
It then gives information on the ingredients used for making bread.
Then the real fun starts with all the recipes in the book. I was impressed with the variety of the recipes.
This is a cookbook you will want in your kitchen.
Thank you NetGalley, Beth Hensperger and Quarto Publishing Group for the copy of Bread Machine Baking for Beginners. This is my personal review.
Great overall information about bread making. I've been making bread for over 10 years and still got something out of this book. Very thorough introduction to bread making, how to use the machine, the components that go into bread. Also great variety of recipes including gluten free, desert/sweet breads and whole grain breads as well as artisan breads. This would be a great reference book for any baker.
