It was great, I loved these little comics!
The humor was hilarious, I'm sure everyone will find themselves in at least one of the situations the author experienced which makes everything so relatable. The art style was also very cute, and I'm sure this book will be the perfect gift for your friends/family.

I picked this up after being recommended it by a friend, and it was honestly super cute! It's a collection of comics that generally just span a page, and they cover a wide range of seasons, topics, and feelings. While I didn't necessarily love every one, most were quite funny/cute, with a few stand-outs! The art style also fits well with the content, making it all feel quite 'silly', but in a grown-up/more mature way. Overall, it was just really solid, and a lot of fun!

I feel like these sort of comics could be made into a really fun daily/weekly tear-off calendar, especially some of the seasonal comics! While I still enjoyed reading it all at once, this comic style feels more like something you should read a few pages of at a time, or see a themed page per day (it could also work as a coffee table book, for that reason!) It kind of felt like I burned through it (which I mean, I technically did), and I feel like spreading it out over time would make it more memorable and even more enjoyable!

Why Are You Like This? is a collection of comics by Meg Adams, better known as artbymoga on Instagram. I have been a long time fan of her work, and this collection includes many of her more well known comics. The comics progress along a year, and are relatable little slice of life comics. I had already read most of these comics and would have liked to see some more new content in this collection, but it was fun to revisit some of my favorites. This unexpectedly made me laugh.

Short, comic strip episodes from the lives of two millenials whose children are two dogs. She shops for Halloween decor the whole year round, while he goes for normal coffee and regrets it when he sees the alternative.

Would read more by the artist.

I literally picked this up because of the title and cover art. Zero regrets. I couldn't put it down until I read the entire thing (even though it's already way too late), and I will probably be re-reading it again tomorrow and following the author on all the her socials.

Hilarious and über-relatable - this is basically an illustrated copy of the funniest, best conversations you have with your bestie(s), about life, the universe and everything - especially how opposites attract, dorky geeks are awesome, doggos are the literal best, and life gets away from us sometimes.

The only thing I really don't get is why everyone's noses go super long and skinny when they are caught in "undesirable" emotions. But, that's just an illustrator's style choice, and definitely not one that I would dock any stars for.

So much gratitude to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC copy of this graphic novel, in exchange for my honest review. In fact, I now cannot wait for this to come out so that I can buy a copy for all of my friends!

Pretty cute and definitely relatable. Some of these I had to show my boyfriend, excitedly yelling “it’s us!”

At times, the artwork style wasn’t my fave but I appreciated the talent and creativity!

Pretty funny. I didn’t find many parts to directly relate to, but I predict many people will love this.

(4.5/5) I follow Meg Adams (@artbymoga) on Instagram, and when I saw she was putting out a book, I knew I HAD to request the ARC. I love slice of life comics, and this is perfect for fans of Catana Chetwynd, author of Little Moments of Love. I would honestly say that this book is probably *more* relatable, and I think anyone could find something to which they would say "lol same" within its pages. My only complaint (as probably with most graphic novels) is that this book is short, and I've seen a few of the comics on Adams' instagram before BUT don't let that keep you from reading this book. It had me laughing to the point of tears and I don't want to admit how many pages I made my husband read because I'm pretty sure some of those comics Meg pulled right from my own life experience. I also appreciated the body positivity/body neutrality and self-affirmation threaded throughout and found it really encouraging. This is a great, quick feel good collection of comics, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Charming and silly and utterly relatable for a millennial audience. My spouse ended up mildly annoyed by the number of times I shoved my phone in his face to say "look it's you!"

Meg's humor is often self-deprecating, but balances nicely with her message of celebrating yourself. Her art is goofy and lovable, drawing realistic bodies with stretch marks and fat and unflattering facial expressions. While both she and her partner are white, the other characters who populate her comics represent a range of people.

This little book is a joy.

This is a cute little book of memes basically. I didn’t understand or relate to about 60% of the jokes, but it still seemed like a cute little book. I felt like I was missing the point to most of the jokes.

I've seen some of Meg Adams' comics online in the past and have always loved how funny and deep relatable they are 🤣 It's fantastic that these are being published in a book now!

I am very clearly the targeted audience - I thought this was hilarious and so relatable! I loved Meg's ability to make fun of herself and her general sense of humor, but also thought the tender moments were so perfectly shown!

Perfect for fans of Sarah Scribbles and Catana Chetwynd comics. Fantastic one page, slice of life comics about relatable situations. I will be definitely keep my eye out for further comic collections from Adams!

This is a quick and very very funny read. Perfect for in between more dense books, which i needed. I will be looking for more content from the author, without a doubt.

A beautifully illustrated and heartfelt graphic novel for fans of Sarah Andersen and confessional memoirs. This one was a winner.

Sometimes you need a good graphic novel/comic to cleanse your palette between more lengthy reads.

"Why Are You Like This?" had me chucking from start to finish.

This is an opposites attract graphic novel featuring the extroverted Meg and her introverted husband Carson.

Even if you're not married, you can still relate and enjoy a lot of things in this graphic novel. No, September isn't too early to start putting Halloween decor out. In fact, it's spooky season all year round around this neck of the woods. Cranberry sauce from the can is top tier. The heater is off because heat costs money, but that blanket is free.

It was a fun and cute time. Definitely worth the read!

I like Meg Adams' work. She writes very relatable comics about being weird, taking holidays to the next level (past normal person's boundaries), and embracing not giving a fuck as you get older. Her work has lovely coloring, and great expression, which makes it a great book to read a few comics at a time, or the whole book in one go. I think this would make a fun gift for anyone embracing their weirdness.

I think I've seen a few strips and panels of Adams' comics because I recognise the style, but I haven't read much. This was fucking funny and some comics made me laugh out loud. I really love the squishy style and how she doesn't shy back from making "ugly" faces or depict herself how she really looks like, thicc and with cellulite (like me <3).
She also captures mental health issues well, like anxiety and depression, as well as our shared fondness for Halloween-related spookery, our hatred for allergies and utter goofyness.

Absolutely can recommend and I'm immediately gonna follow the artist on her socials.

Funny and relatable this book was a joy to read. While I've seen some of these comics online, there were enough that I hadn't seen and the overall composition still made it fun and refreshing to read. I immediately went to find the artist online so I could continue to follow their work. I enjoy the expressive, sometimes caricature-like style of art..
