Book Title: I Didn’t Do it
Author: Jaime Lynn Hendricks
Publisher: Penzier Publishers- Scarlet
Genre: Mystery Thriller
Pub Date: May 23, 2023
My Rating: 3 Stars

I read author, Jaime Lynn Hendricks’ novel "Finding Tessa" and totally loved it! So was looking forward to this story.

In this story five authors who write thrillers are attended (what else?) a thriller writers’ conference called ‘Murderpalooza’!
Four of them have been nominated in ‘the best thriller’ of the year category.
However, when the favorite Kristin Bailey is found dead her rival authors are prime suspects. ~ Vicky Overton – who share the same agent as Kristin and has some history.
Davis Walton is considered a rock-star as he sold the rights of his bestseller to movie rights.
Mike Brooks is 49 and considered washed-up and is hopeful for his big comeback. And
Suzanne Shih who isn’t nominated but is a 24 year old star-struck writer who has stalking tendencies!

Twitter gets involved and messages are being sent to the group encouraging a confession.
Since they are mystery writers they decided they are going to solve this mystery and figure what is going on.
The unlikeable characters and the twists and turns had me dizzy from all my my ‘eye rolls’!

Want to thank NetGalley and Penzier Publishing – Scarlet for granting me this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for May 23, 2023

Five writers at a thriller conference, in various states of their career. All with secrets, somehow connected to each other. one gets murdered and the other four are in danger or are they. Social media, twitter plays a big part in exposing them and the danger they are in. Sometimes humorous, overall a fast paced mystery. Not my favorite of hers as there was any one character to get really involved with but a good book

This is the first JLH book that I have read. It was entertaining with multiple POV's and several twists that I didn't expect. The commentary on social media was truthful. and IMO added a touch of humor to this thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC.

I Didn't Do It...what an I say.....I actually did - I stayed up till midnight to finish this gem. This is the third book I have read by Jaime Lynn Hendricks and she just gets better each time. I love the way she tells a story and a few times I thought I had the ending figured out but I wasn't even close. The story is told during a convention for authors of the thriller genre. All are there for the annual award ceremony when one of the nominees is murdered. From that point on the story is told alternating from the perspective of 4 writers. The story will take you on a roller coaster ride of your life. As each chapter concluded I had a different thought on who was the murderer. Can't wait to read more books from Jaime in the future. She is a very talented writer.

Kristen Bailey is found dead in her hotel room on the first day of the Murderpalooza conference. A conference for authors of thriller novels along with an awards ceremony for best thriller of the year. Four rival authors are targeted as suspects by an anonymous Twitter account, posting for all the conference to see, The author's connections to Kristen along with their motives to wanting her dead.

This is my first Jaime Lynn Hendricks novel. I loved the writing style of this book. The different point of views from the victim and the suspects in the storyline. You really have a hard time trying to figure out which one is really guilty because cases are made to look like all of them had the perfect motive to kill the victim. This is a definite recommendation for the lover of surprise twists.

I don’t rate a lot of books five stars, but this one is definitely worthy of the rating.
I Didn’t Do It is a highly suspenseful thriller and a total page turner- I read this book in one day! It is a classic whodunnit with tons of twists along with way. You will be suspicious of everyone. I didn’t see that ending coming, and I highly recommended this twisty, character-driven thriller.

Thank you NetGalley and Penzler/Scarlet for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

📖 I DIDNT DO IT by Jaime Lynn Hendricks

🕵🏻 Murderpalooza - the annual mystery and suspense writer conference is rocked when a famous crime writer is murdered. Several other authors are being harassed by an anonymous account on Twitter and suddenly all the attendees are wondering - which one did it?

👩🏻‍💻 This book is SO FUN! I loved diving into the world of thriller authors with their varying personalities and experience. Suzanne was probably my favorite character - the starry-eyes aspiring author cracked me up. I laughed multiple times during this wild ride and loved every second.

The best part is that the mystery is excellent. Jaime Lynn Hendricks just may be the modern day Agatha Christie we’ve been waiting for!

Good story but it had a few too many characters to keep up with. This book is a classic "who dun it?" And I never guessed correctly!

In NYC, at a writers conference called, Murderpalooza, a top author is found dead in her room. Shortly after 4 other authors receive strange texts from an anonymous account taunting them, spilling secrets and letting the whole world know through twitter. Who is this anonymous person and what do they want?

I read this in one sitting! It was so good and so well written. Between the twists and turns, multiple POVs and a lot of WTF moments, Add this to your TBR now!

Thanks to NetGalley and Penzler/Scarlet for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
I liked this. Eventually. I didn't love it. And I only liked it once I was past 25%. The beginning was a jumble of introducing multiple characters, mostly unlikeable, and the only reason I didn't DNF at the beginning was due to the short chapters and tons of dialogue which kept the story moving along at a fast pace. This is easy to finish in a few hours. I figured out most of it but the reveal still kept me entertained.
3 solid stars

This book started off a little slow to me but eventually picked up and turned out to be a page turner! A story of who done it and why with twist and turns throughout. The ending was really good!

Thank you to Penzler Publishing for this Netgalley.

Well this was fun. Fast paced, short chapters and just enough action so that you didn't feel like you were schlogging through it, but not so much that you were like this is ridiculous. That. Ending.

That was a fun whodunnit! I loved how it had you hooked from the start and wanting to come back for more. The twists were great! I had my jaw on the floor for that ending. Wow. Well done!

This character driven novel is difficult to put down. Intrigue and mystery with red herrings thrown in to keep the reader guessing. This author is talented and gifted at writing a cannot put down novel. I enjoyed learning about the cast attending an authors’ awards’ weekend. It was funny, sweet, and yet ironic. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Spend an afternoon curled up with this quick fun read.

This was such a fun read! First, I need to find a Murderpalooza in real life because how fun would that be?! This was a fave paced, multiple POV where nothing is what it seems. This book expertly weaves in some of our favorite thriller tropes with social media, unreliable characters and a whole lot of doubting ourselves. The twist felt a bit predictable, but still entertaining from start to finish!

I Didn’t Do It is a fast paced thriller set in a thriller convention. It is told in multiple points of view, which I liked very much. It was fairly fast paced, although I did lose interest a little bit, at times. I didn’t see the twist coming and honestly, the final twist ending was not my favorite. However, overall, I enjoyed the book.

I loved everything about this book! I can totally see this being made into a tv show or movie, like the writers version of How to Get Away with Murder. Luckily, the writing community on Twitter is generally much nicer than portrayed in this book, but there are always a few bad apples. This book showed them in all of their discourse glory. I had a hunch what would happen at the end, but then I thought, no way would the author do that. Friends, SHE DID THAT. That awards show was so. Damn. Satisfying! Well done Jamie Lynn Hendricks, well done! You’ve made me a fan for life!

Huge thanks to Penzler Publishing, Scarlet and Netgalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!

This thriller set at a writer's conference (aka Murerpalooza) is told through alternating perspectives across the course of a day. After learning that their fellow writer, Kristin, has been murdered in the conference hotel, fellow writers and attendees Mike, Suzanne, Vicky, and Davis all find themselves being followed by a murderous Twitter account that implies one of them is next. With secrets to hide, the back stories of the four characters are unspoiled as this real-life murder case invades the conference.
What I liked:
-Multiple points of view done well. The voice of each character added to the story and kept the pace moving. I appreciated how the author was able to shift the tone of each character throughout the book, as their manipulations became more clear.
-Commentary on social media/Twitter and how incorrect information is spread.
-Tongue-in-cheek commentary about the world of publishing and how writers and readers judge books (and each other)

The only parts that didn't quite work for me were the occasionally overdone commentary on writing, the balance of character development (I would have liked to hear more about Vicky and Kristin, especially how Kristin came to be a well-regarded thriller writer), and parts of the convention and the final reveal/resolution seemed unrealistically neat. Still a unique and fun thriller, especially for those who like meta-commentary on authors.

I loved, loved, loved this twisty thriller. I couldn’t read it fast enough. Hendricks is a thriller master and her books keep you on your toes! If you can only read one book this year, READ THIS BOOK!

***** Many thanks to Scarlet/Penzler Publishers, Jaime Lynn Hendricks, and NetGalley for the #gifted copy as it was provided to me in turn for my honest opinion.

My review will be posted on Instagram (thriller_book_sisters) closer to pub date.

Ahh I wanted to love this so much more. I have been approved for all of her previous novels and loved them. This one just fell flat for me and I felt myself losing interest at the end. I liked the multiple POV’s and Suzanne was my favorite. Overall, 3 stars. I appreciate Netgally for letting me read this early!
