Monster is looking for a new pal...are you it?

Are You a Monster? is a delightful little book perfect for 3-5 year olds. I love that the monster is talking to the reader. I also like that it is interactive (i.e. encourages movements and noises). The illustrations are really cute, as well!

Thank you to NetGalley and Happy Yak for the opportunity to read Are You a Monster?

The little monster is looking for a friend to scare people with him. So are you a monster? You have to identify yourself as one. And little monster will show you the qualities needed to be his buddy. A fun book to do with little kids, where they can stomp and ground and do monster-y things. Kids will love mimicking the persona and hopefully have more fun reading.

I feel that young children will really enjoy this look atcthe monster book and seeing the different elements that it says will be a monster. Of course finding that you an fir into a group or stand out is an important message

I like the twists in this one. They allow it to stand apart from the growing assortment of picture books where the character interacts directly with the reader. It starts with a clever assumption - that a child would want to be a monster and asks us about our similarities and differences. It invites the child listener to act out monster behaviors. It would go over especially well in a group setting.

Laugh-out-loud funny, as a bespectacled monster tries to determine whether the reader of the book is a monster or not (and if it should be scared!) I love these kinds of interactive books that have kids getting up and acting out commands from the protagonist.

I got this on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

I love interactive picture books, and this was precisely that!
It is also full of reflections about what makes something a monster, and I thought that was super fun!

Are You a Monster? by Guilherme Karsten is ADORABLE! The illustrations are too cute for words and the story was very silly! I felt so lucky to get a copy for myself! I have shared on my goodreads, bookstagram, and booktok!

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Very cute kids book, reminds me of a sesame street book i used to read as a kid! Only thing i can say is after having a horrible upstairs neighbor, using this as a bedtime book is not for upstairs neighbors!

This cute picture book asks the question "are you a monster?" as the main character tries to determine a) what is a monster and b) whether or not he is a monster. A cute picture book with large stylized fonts and comic style speech bubbles will make reading fun. For fans of elephant and piggie or other Mo Willems style books! I would recommend this to parents and teachers of children in the age 3-7 range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book

Are You a Monster is a not so scary story of a monster looking for a monster buddy. This interactive book would make a great addition to a monster storytime!

This book is so much fun! There’s a monster looking for a new monster friend. They don’t see any monsters they just see humans, but do you have it in you to be a monster? This book will help you find out. This book would be so much fun to read in a story time group. The kids would get active, they get a laugh and have a great time. So, whether reading it for bedtime or reading it to a class or any other group. This would be one book that goes on frequent rotation.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
The monster inside this book is looking for another monster. He asks the reader many questions to find out if they are a monster too.
This is a good interactive book for young readers and pre-readers. It encourages not only interaction but also physical activity.

Be on the look-out. Monsters have been spotted in your area.

Or . . . maybe you yourself are a monster?

How would you know?

This rollicking, interactive book will have kids stomping and roaring to prove they are indeed monsters. It's definitely not a bedtime book. What a blast!

(And, I loved that our little monster narrator wears glasses! How cool is that?)

What a brilliantly fun book that would make the perfect read-aloud with young children. It will have them joining in and acting out different parts of the books with gusto! This is a story that would make a wonderful book to read in pre-school or reception and you'd have lots of opportunities to explore the book in creative ways after reading. Love the illustrations and the bespectacled monster is adorable!
