This book started out so cute! It had a fun premise with the promise of lots of adventure and some great enemies-to-lovers vibes. Unfortunately, the rest of the book didn't live up to that adorable first 25% for me, in fact it almost felt like a different book altogether.

Kate and Daniel are enemies at the beginning of this book, but we don't know why. Their mutual friend, Andy has gone missing in Turkey, and they fly there together to get to the bottom of his disappearance. Of course, while there, sparks fly as they get to know each other more and spend time in a super romantic location. But when they return to London, will any of this last?

There was a lot going on in this book. As I said, the first quarter of this book was great. Kate and Daniel had excellent banter and I loved the vibe they had with each other. I was convinced they were enemies and was excited to see what went down in the past. This book took a turn when Andy came on the scene. He was a toxic character. His past interactions with Kate and Daniel also made me dislike them and how they handled certain situations. The romance between Kate and Daniel also took a huge backseat once they returned home and almost exclusively focused on Andy and his issues. The ending felt rushed and unbelievable because I hadn't seen much development of their relationship.

I think this book is marketed incorrectly. I went in thinking I was going to get "A totally hilarious and feel-good enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy" and that's not what this book is. It has more serious undertones, and that's fine, but I don't think it does the reader or author any good to misrepresent what the book is actually about. If I'm looking at the book overall, I think it's well written and interesting, but it is not what the subtitle suggests.

There wasn't anything I disliked about this book. the writing style and format was good and engaged me the whole way along, the storyline was absolutely riveting and thought provoking. I couldn't put it down Lots of chuckles along the way too..,,,,,

I love a Sophie Ranald novel. I know I’ll be able to race through, devour the characters and howl with laughter. This one is definitely hits the spot, comedic, dramatic, full of life and pace. Love it

I'm not a huge fan of the time jumps in this book BUT I did appreciate the way the main character ultimately recognised her flaws and apologised for her mistakes. TW: alcohol and drug addiction, emotional manipulation/abuse

I was really intrigued by the synopsis of this book and was expecting a humorous rom com style story, I was taken off guard though that it is dealing with some heavy topics.

This story is centered around Daniel and Kate looking for their friend Andy that has fallen off the map. Andy is a recovering addict so they are concerned for his well being, With the premise of this being a rom com the parts about Andy did bring down the story for me and I found myself having s hard time connecting,

I’m not sure I’d call this a romantic comedy. There were some funny moments but there’s also some incredibly heavy issues (Andy’s addiction to drugs and alcohol) and a lot of the book revolves around that. I did still enjoy the story but I was expecting a lot more parts to laugh at and less sadness for Kate and Daniel while they search for their friend who just stopped being in contact and reminiscing about said friend’s behavior.

As a big Sophie Ranald fan I was very excited to get an early read of Not in a Miillion Years. It absolutely did not disappoint and I have to say it may well be my favourite of her books- reminds me very much of Mhairi Macfarlane’s style which can only be a great thing!

Ranald’s books seem to go from strength to strength, and in this one she fully hits her stride.

Well written with fantastic, three dimensional characters who capture the intrigue of the reader from the first chapter. This is not just a “will they won’t they” story, but one with real heartbreak and complex backstories.

It’s always a mark of a fantastic story when you can’t help but wonder what will happen when you next turn on the kindle.

A delightfully quick read simply because I didn’t want to put it down!

From the description and the cover I was expecting more of a rom-com, loads of laughs and love. I felt like this cut short on both. The book had me more invested in Andy's recovery. The twist of him having relations with Kate really through me off, but I was rooting for Daniel. I dont think it would have been believable for them to have a good relationship if Kate ended up with Daniel considering Andy's issues. I was glad that it did leave me wanting more and maybe hoping for book about their future if there continues to be one.
It was also an easy read overall

Definitely not what I expected! I feel like there were two separate stories intertwined into one novel. The relationship dynamics that were brought up were compelling and touched on sensitive issues.

I was very excited to read this book because the description sounded so sweet and I love a good romcom. I unfortunately disappointed, the book had some very heavy topics that brought the mood of the book down. Alcohol and drug abuse were a huge part of the story that I wasn't expecting. I just exacted a light hearted, funny romcom and this was far from that.

I give this book 2.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and the author for an advanced copy.

I love Sophie Ranald, everything she writes is great, but this is her best yet. I loved it all - the enemies to lovers, the flashbacks, the villain of it all, the holiday setting… It was too good, which is why I was BEREFT over the lack of epilogue 😭

On a more serious note though, this was a romantic comedy but it also poignantly dealt with addiction and especially its impact on those around an addict. I loved Kate’s journey to realising her place in it all and being able to move on.

“Not in a Millions Years” is by Sophie Ranald. Technically it is a rom-com, but it’s not a typical rom-com. The beginning part and when two of the characters (Kate and Daniel) decide to go to Turkey to find their mutual friend (Andy) was enjoyable. However, once everyone’s back in London, the book started feeling flat. The banter between Kate and Daniel was good, but their backstory regarding why they weren’t longtime friends seemed weak. I also felt that once Kate returned to London that her past relationship with Andy overtook the possible romance with Daniel. While I applaud Ms. Ranald for discussing addiction in a rom-com, at times that overtook the rom-com feeling of the book.

Kate and Daniel don´t get along very well but when Andy, their mutual friend, disappears and the only clue of him is in Greece, they are forced to travel there together.
I personally love a good enemies to lovers and the first half of the book delivered but the second half not so much.
This part of the book focuses a lot on drug addiction so the light tone changes very quickly.
Overall, I like it but it was not what I was expecting, if you like your rom coms with a touch of seriousness this one is for you.

Not in a Million Years was my first book by author Sophie Ranald.

While I enjoyed the premise of this story, I felt like the backstory of Andy, kind of overshadowed the romance and actual over-all plot of the book.

I will try another book from this author, but this one didn't really work for me.

Bookouture and Sophie you absolutely smashed it out of the park again! I enjoyed Not In A Million Years so much! I had been in such a reading slump which is so unlike me that I thought I would never get out, but this book completely rescued me. I couldn’t stop laughing from the first page. I wish I could share every little detail, but I don’t think any potential reader would like that much of spoilers. So I’ll do my best to say what I loved and not give to much away! Don’t ask me why but Kate I kept picturing as Adele’s voice throughout the whole book, because she was just so darn funny and cheeky. Kate has this amazing guy bff Andy who is the perfect soulmate whole she’s on the hunt for her real one. Andy invites get to come along on a trip abroad which sound’s fabulous but Andy’s annoying friend Daniel also comes with the package. Let’s just say Kate isn’t too keen on him . But let’s just say with the beautiful locals, close contact, and a little magic added to the mix Daniel isn’t so bad. ;) They actually get mistaken for a real couple. This is the perfect enemies to lovers trope. Their were so many hilarious scenes I couldn’t possibly name them all, but the hot air balloon scene had me rolling as I have had a similar experience. This is not my first Sophie Renald book and I certainly hope it’s not my last. Thank you so much Bookouture. I love your books so much!

This was not your typical romcom. Kate is successful, has her own place, and has a great group of friends. However she has been unlucky in love and suffers from insomnia which allows her to bake way too much. While she is waiting for her next freelance job to start she finds out that her best friend, Andy might be in trouble. She ends up traveling to Turkey to try and find out what is happening. However she doesn't go alone. Daniel, another one of Andy's friends also goes. The problem is Daniel and Kate do not get along after something that happened in the past. The last thing Kate wants is to spend time with him. While on the trip Kate's feelings start to change and she might even imagine a future with Daniel. There are other forces at work that threaten to destroy what might be a possible romance of a lifetime.

I have read many different books with a similar plot line but this one felt different. Kate is an interesting main character who suffers from a fear of heights, loves to bake, and is determined to make it on her own. Andy, the friend they are trying to help has many problems and he truly is what makes this book different. This book was about Kate and Daniel but it was also about Andy and his problems. I think many people will find this relatable and have had friends like Andy in the past. There were also some really touching moments in this book that brought smiles to my face and even caused me to laugh out loud. This is a great book for anyone looking for a different type of love triangle or enemies to lovers romance.

From this book i face with phrase "Men and Women cant be friend" Lol. Kate love life was complicated. There is Andy, they click instanly, being bestfriend but Andy has he own problem that able to drag Kate down. With Andy, Kate learn to put boundry in hard way. After that Kate go several date but not in long term. There is Daniel, Andy bestfriend. Kate not get along with him, when Andy missing both of them spend time together to find him. Tension build, find another side of each other, feeling grow. Daniel always reminder Kate to put herself first, love herself first.

The best part of this book was the cat. Oh my god i want to go to Turkey and pet them!!

I’m such a huge fan of enemies to lovers, so the friends to enemies to friends to enemies to lovers was just fantastic.

I thought the characters were really engaging and relatable and the humor was a fun addition.

I really enjoyed the first 25% of this novel. I loved the plot, the location and the love/hate simmering between Kate and Daniel. I honestly feel like the author could have made a decent romcom had she expanded on the first 25%, spent more time on them reconnecting on holiday-kept them in that space for longer. The remaining 75% of the book was completely overshadowed by Andy and his addiction. It dragged on and pretty much ruined the amazing begining of this book. For something advertised as a RomCom set on holiday there was way too much manufactured drama and drugs and heavy topics going on and not enough beach love/laughs as promised. I am bummed because the first bit of this book was great. This wasn't for me but if might be your cup of tea.
