It's always a gamble to start a well established crime series but B.R. Spangler easily ensures that new readers to the Casey White series are not left wondering 'what's gone before'? As a new reader to both the author and the series, that's welcoming and inclusive.

The twists and turns of this investigation keeps the pages turning and the grey cells churning trying to 'solve' Casey White's latest case.

This author certainly knows how to spin a story to keep readers guessing about the final outcome and the guilty party, I certainly didn't uncover the truth!

The added dimension of relationships both personal and professional, encourages the reader's investment in the story AND the series as a whole (I'll certainly be going back to explore this series further).

For me, the ending was synonymous with a good series....give your audience a taste of what's to come!

This book had me staying up late at night to finish it. The storyline was different and had me guessing what was going on.
The young women that are being murdered have wounds that are puzzling to Detective Casey White and her team. Honestly, I was surprised how long it took all of them to figure out what the murder weapon was. I won’t go into it more because that would give too much away.
The ending was surprising for sure.
A great series to read if you like police procedurals.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Members of an old school team start being murdered one by one.

I am a big fan of B R Spangler’s Casey White series and this latest instalment does not disappoint. The method of killing was really quite unique and the silence and precision required somehow made it seem more personal. As usual, there is a connection to one of the team, a feature that I personally would lose. However, this is a well written, tight thriller that did not outstay its welcome.

An excellent read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

This sucked me in from the start! I had never come across the series before so this was all new to me and I absolutely loved it! I loved the writing style, the characters, the twists and turns and even with it being part of a series, the author still made sure you knew the basics so you could get a good grasp if reading this as a stand alone. I've no doubt it'd be even better for those who have followed the series and I can't wait to start from book one and get a much better insight into the characters

I love this series and it gets better with every book. The plot is always fresh. I enjoy Casey and Jericho and they have grown a lot from book one. There were surprises I didn't see coming. I love that I didn't have it all figured out by the middle of the story. Then there is that ending! The next book can't come soon enough.

The body of a young woman (Charlie Robson) is found in the field of a Sunflower Farm, it almost looks like she was hunted, the wounds have the team puzzled. The they find a similar case from a year ago, and Charlie was a friend.
Book 8 but if you have not read any in the series don’t worry, as you get a really good introduction to Detective Casey White and her crew.

If you haven't read the Detective Casey White series you are missing out! Jericho, Casey and her team are back and these are characters you absolutely love! Casey is back in book #8 and on the hunt for a killer taking out a group of high school girls called the Sunflower girls. Plan on plenty of page flipping because this book is a fast read! This author always grabs you from the first pages till the very suspenseful end. Read this book and this series! Love it!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for this eARC.

I thought this was a cracker of a read, and a great addition to a very good series which is now one of my favourites. I loved the beginning, it certainly grabbed my attention and interest. As always the author has wrote an entertaining book that very much hit the mark with me. I love the main character and enjoy following her investigations - here she investigates a murder that is very personal to someone she used to work alongside, and I particularly liked the return of this character and how easily they fit into the story and plot line. The author gives the reader lovely glimpses into Casey’s personal and home life, and I love reading of the working rapport and friendships she has with her colleagues. I feel like I know the characters now, and that the author brings them to life through their writing and I can picture the scenes in my mind when reading. As the series progresses I think there has been great character development, and that the author has created such likeable, relatable and believable characters who you just root for from the start. Overall, a very good absorbing read that held my interest from start to finish. I loved the ending which sets up the next book nicely and I’ll be I looking forward to that. If you’re a fan of police procedurals give this series a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great story about Casey White, Jericho, and the daughter that was kidnapped. The arrow thing was a little disturbing for me and the reasoning behind it, but I think it's more common than people want to admit. This book had an ending that will lead right into the next one, which I think is new for this series.

Oh my god what a read!!!! I devoured this book in one sitting and finally turned the last page in the wee hours. Oh yes this book is that good!!!!.
Heart stopping with plenty of moments that had me holding my breath. A nail biting read that is full of twists and turns. I love this series and for me his best book so far. A visit to the Outer Banks is never disappointing, and that cliff hanger I need the next book now PLEASE!!!!!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

I’ve read all the books in this series and loved them all. It was nice catching up with Detective Casey White and the rest of her team. Murder in a sunflower field. Who did it and how was it done? Great mystery and the ending had me eagerly awaiting the next book.

Another Solid Entry In Series. This is one of those police procedural, deep in series, books where you don't *have* to read earlier books first - enough of the backstory is explained to be able to follow here - but if you're a "NO SPOILERS EVER!!!!" type... read the series from Book 1. Seriously, there are references and explanations all the way back that far in this one. For the rest of us, this is a great entry into the series, yet again another with a particularly grisly murder mechanism and with equally solid relationship based drama. Spangler does well to keep every book in the series well grounded on both sides of the formula, and it continues to work well for him. This one in particular is another where there is a surprise reveal at the end such that you're going to want the next book *immediately* - I know I already do. Very much recommended.

Detective Casey White and her team investigate the murder of Charlie Robson who was killed in a sunflower field with a bow and arrow. Another girl winds up murdered in the same way. They find out that the girl’s were in an archery club in school years back and that the girls are being bumped off one by one. Many deadly secrets are revealed.
This was a great read that I hated to put down. It’s 8th in the series and can easily be read as a standalone. Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC that will be released February 21, 2023!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Their Resting Place, the eighth novel to feature Detective Casey White, set on the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

When Charlie Robson’s body is found in a sunflower field her cause of death is not immediately apparent. Further investigation suggests that she was killed by arrows and Casey starts to see links as Charlie was part of an archery club in high school and the called themselves the Sunflower Girls. Soon there are more victims and it looks like someone has a grudge against the Sunflower Girls.

I thoroughly enjoyed Their Resting Place, which is a fast moving read with both an interesting investigation and a slice of personal dilemmas. It gives the novel a rounded feel.

The novel is told almost entirely from Casey’s point of view, which offers the reader an immersive experience and a bird’s eye view of where the investigation is going and how she’s sorting her personal problems. I found the novel absorbing and fast moving and I didn’t guess the identity of the perpetrator or the motive, perhaps because it is development after development and I took my eye off the ball, or more likely because the author is good at what they do. To me, the solution seems very American, tied up in emotion and delusion with its roots in an age old behaviour.

This is the eighth novel in the series so Casey’s history is well known to those who follow it, but it is also neatly recapped for new readers. She is planning to follow her long lost daughter, Tracy, to Philadelphia, where Tracy’s partner has been offered a job. As it turns out neither Tracy nor Casey’s partner, Jericho are keen to go. What to do? It looks like the decision will be put off again with this novel ending in a cliffhanger, suggesting a new case.

Their Resting Place is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Book 8 in the Detective Casey White series and the momentum on this series continues. Casey is called to the scene of a murder in a sunflower field, while initially it appears maybe the victim was shot, it later becomes apparent that isn’t the case . Soon after more murders, same method of kill and Casey and her team are racing against the clock to solve the murders before there are more victims. Great fast paced read. That ending … can’t wait for the next book in this series.

The synopsis does not match the story. Detective Casey White did not “immediately” recognize the wounds as arrow wounds. It took some time into the story for the medical examiner and Casey to reach that conclusion. Casey also knew about the notes beginning with Charlie’s murder, not with the later one. I also had a difficult time with the sentence structure and the unfortunate choice of some words in the story.

The cops taking over the ice cream shop and helping out with the customers seems implausible. I just can’t see that. Casey and Jericho’s relationship didn’t ring true.

I guess I had many problems with this book.

The premise is a very good one, however. Murder by arrow is unusual and I found that refreshing.

I want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for forwarding this book to me so that I could read and review it. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.

Sorry, but this just didn't work for me. I spent the first 1/3 of the book trying to interpret some of the oddly phrased sentences, which almost appeared to be translations from another language into English. The characters didn't ring true, the dialogue felt forced, and the main characters did not seem to be law enforcement professionals.

I did like the cover.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't read anything by B.R. Spangler before, and after finishing this book I will definitely be reading the rest of this series and following any more that come out.
The author did a great job of catching us up on previous events so you don't have to have read the other book in this series to read this one.
I was sucked in from the first page, and the investigation took me on a wild ride. There are times when we are sure who the killer is, but there are alibis and so many questions left to be answered that despite what we think we know, we haven't quite solved it yet.
I loved the dynamics between the characters, they worked so well together and really cared about each other. and when we finally find out what was going on I was completely surprised! I can't wait to read all the other books in this series!

Detective Casey White and her team are called to the scene of a puzzling murder in a Sunflower field.
No bullet casings are found, and there are no bullets in the body, and eventually, Casey realises that the weapon used was a bow and arrow.
When a second body is found in another Sunflower field, a link is made to the first, but who is picking off the Sunflower girls one at a time?

I enjoyed this, and again, a strong female lead. The main characters are very human, with human failings and scars from their past. In this book, it shows how the past can affect an individuals future.
There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book and I can't wait to read the next!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series. I think they can easily be read as standalone books though. The characters are easy to care about (which led to a few tears), the plots always different and the twists woven in to keep you guessing. The only downside to this book is that it laid the groundwork for, possibly, the next book and now I'm extremely impatient to read it!!!
