Their Resting Place (Detective Case White Book 8) by B.R. Spangler is a good mystery and suspense thriller. The only thing I found annoying was the constant mention within the first 5 chapters of the wounds being bullets or not. The characters kept mentioning Dr. Foster recovering the bullets; enough already, the reader gets that they may or may not be bullets.

The ending was also a bit implausible. But I cannot reveal the ending because it would give away the culprit.

The story had a good cliffhanger ending. However, the writing and story sometimes felt choppy, and the dialogue stilted. The Charlie story and the character were a bit unbelievable, and the reason for the killings.

I would give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars (rounded to 4).

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. This mystery has so many red herrings. It does move quickly, and the ending is surprising. The characters come alive on the pages. Enjoy. It is somewhat confusing, at times, with different time periods.

I will leave a review on Amazon and B&N on Feb 21st

Wow I have to say this was an interesting read, and certainly original in the method of killing someone. This book was able to pull me in from the very beginning until the ending. I had decided on the wrong person as the murderer. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

I received and ARC from NetGalley and Bookouture, I am leaving my review voluntarily and the opinion expressed here are my own.

A complex, suspenseful plot with tension so thick that it felt palpable. Wonderfully-developed characters with depth and substance. I was immediately drawn in and held captive from beginning to end. It was a fast paced roller coaster ride that is packed full of so many twists and turns by the time you reach the final pages. Turning out to be a great series!

Absolutely fabulous! B.R, Spangler picks up where she left off with Detective Casey White, Jericho and their supporting cast... with lots of personal transitions happening, at all once. The author creates such a fantastic dynamic with Casey balancing both professional and personal challenges. Their case involves a young woman murdered in a sunflower field - they assume it's an isolated case - and are proven incorrect. Chasing leads and putting together the pieces is something Casey does exceptionally well with her team by her side. I love this series so much... and where the author left this book ...oh my gosh - I cannot wait to see what happens next. Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book; the opinions expressed are my own.

Sunflowers and murder; the perfect combination for an eerie mystery.

This was the first book of the Detective Casey White series that I have read and I will certainly be returning for more. For Detective Casey White, all seemed well until Detective Emanuel Wilson asked her to personally investigate the case of a murdered college graduate named Charlie Robson. Killed by arrows in a Sunflower field, Charlie’s death prompted a complex investigation full of twists and turns, leading Casey and her team to find another victim. The case was nuanced and full of detail, and it was not without the danger and mystery that keeps me coming back to this genre. The cliffhanger at the end has left me eagerly anticipating the next book.

It's always a pleasure to find a crime fiction novel that is written with such emotion. The language was absolutely delightful and descriptive, the dialogue flowed naturally, and the characters were easy to connect with. There was an effortless fluctuation between themes of tragedy, family and more; making the novel not overwhelmingly methodical, which I sometimes find is the case with crime fiction. This one had me hooked from start to finish and I read it all in one sitting, soaking up the suspense, the mystery and characters.

I do believe that it can be read as a standalone but would be more enjoyable as a series. Context is given at the beginning that helped me understand the running plot involving Detective Casey White searching for her kidnapped daughter Hannah - now Tracy Fields, a crime scene technician - with whom she had been reunited in an earlier book.

Overall, I highly recommend this novel! The plot was incredibly intriguing and unique, and the characters were very captivating. With the focus on the investigation not overwhelming the story, but rather, complimenting the established narrative and characters themselves, I never felt bored or disinterested. My investment was not solely rooted in the investigation or the character’s relationships, but in both the characters and plot simultaneously. Though, what I liked most was B. R. Spangler’s descriptive writing style. I think anyone who enjoys innovative, vivid language will have their attention held from the first page.
Then the characters and investigation tied it off in one brilliant must-read!

WOW…

Let me first start with that! OR should I say end…

This was a page turner from the very start. I kept going back to it. This series gets better every single book. It’s a must read for me. That being said…this was a great addition. Unique murder case with great character growth. I didn’t see the murderer. Difficult subject matter that ruined so many lives. So many victims…alive and dead.

AND that twist at the end…I need the next book NOW.

We often don't realise it, but in fact we are surrounded by a lot of weapons in our every day life. We don't exactly see them as such, because for us they are 'normal' things like pencils or scissors or things we use when we exercise like dumbbells or other sport equipment.

A lot of killer might take, as you can call it, the easy way out. They use guns, knifes, ... the more obvious things, but some of them look beyond of what is in front of them and are original in the worst possible way.

Do they want to earn the title of the most inventive one or do they simply use what they are comfortable with...?

When Casey and her team are called to investigate a horrific murder scene, they cannot get their heads around it, but when they dig deeper they find one person who catches their attention. But are they the one to blame of is there a lot more to be unraveled?

Sometimes crime scenes are horrifying and when you think it cannot get any worse, then you better think again.

Once again a person is not behaving in a 'normal' way and this devastating story is the result of it. A shame it had to end this way, but it certainly was the base of a terrific book. 5 stars

Thank you

Sunflowers . . . . arrows . . . . links to the past.
Murder . . . . danger . . . . how long will it last?
A promising team
Shattered dream.

Another murder investigation is underway
An enthralling read, I have to say!
An intriguing case with surprises all the way through
Keeping you wondering what Casey White will do.

This time there are personal decisions to be made, too,
Choosing where to live is difficult to do.
Who is sending the notes to the victims and why?
What is the reason they want them to die?

Looking into links from the past
May help identify the killer at last.
Different teams with different dreams
Is all as it seems?

With great characters with lives of their own,
Including a daughter who is now grown,
Interactions that seem true to life
And worries to add to their strife.

A great addition to this crime thriller series
And that epilogue has me making more theories
Now I can't wait for the next book to read
I really enjoyed this and the next I now need!

For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.
