Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley romance for giving me the opportunity to read an arc of this book!

This was an adorable queer romance! The characters were all well written and enjoyable in their own separate ways. Even though i didn't read this book in the summer, the author was able to create an incredible atmosphere of the summer camp that added to my enjoyment of the book. At first, I was scared that the fact that the ex was continuously brought up was going to ruin some aspects of the romance. However, I was satisfied with the way it was actually done and how the whole situation was resolved.

I will say that, in my opinion, the "vision" aspect of the plot was a bit unnecessary and clashed with the rest of the dynamics. I am not a fan of supernatural and unrealistic plot points when the rest of the story is "lifelike".

I would LOVE to spend a week at Camp Carl Cove and get to know people as great people as the ones that I got to meet in the book! It was my first time reading a book by Bridget Morrissey, but I will definitely keep an eye out to see what she does next!

Such a stunning novel! I loved the main character beyond words and cannot believe I have finally found a character whose I can see myself in from nearly every aspect except physical. I loved Stevie and her siblings, Dara, the entire vibe of the camp, and more. Garland’s emotional growth was wonderful and so encouraging to read. One of my favourites of the year!!

At its core, That Summer Feeling is queer love story about figuring out who you are later in life and understanding that it is never too late to change. Set at an adult sleep away camp, it follows divorced Garland Moore as a “vision” leads her to pursue a guy from her past to then realize she has feelings for his sister.

As a girl who LOVES summer camp, I feel like so much of this book was made for me. From the color war activities, to the mess hall and evening activities to the fast friendships, I was transported back to my childhood summers. Garland was a well-written and authentic main character, and I enjoyed the progression of her relationship with Stevie as well as her inner thoughts as she was figuring who she wanted to be with romantically. I will say I don’t think the “vision” component was completely necessary with the storyline, but that was just a small thing for me!

Read if you like:
-Sapphic romance
-Strong queer representation
-Adult summer camp setting
-Close sibling relationships
-Found family theme
-Insta loved and forced proximity

Thank you Berkely romance for the ARC! Pub date 5/30

A cute quick romance about a young divorcee who builds confidence and self worth after a week at an adult summer camp.

Garland Moore used to believe in magic and signs, and when she gets a vision after meeting a stranger at an airport of her future true love she decides to pass it up to be with her husband... except then he surprises her with divorce papers on Valentines Day and says he’s fallen out of love with her. now Garland Moore needs a change, and what better change than going spending a week at some new friend’s reopened sleepaway camp with her sister. Summer camp is the perfect place for her to get a second chance, and then she runs into said guy she meet at the airport and the one that gave her the premonition a few years ago, it’s definitely a sign right? The only issue is that Garland is room with Mason’s sister Stevie, a gorgeous former park ranger who is charming and amazing. The more Garland spends time with Stevie the more she’s beginning to realize all the signs might be pointing to someone else. Absolutely adorable and fun, this was such a great read! I loved the chemistry between Garland and Steevie and the camp setting was absolutely charming. Seriously this book was such a sweet read and I think it’s the perfect book to warm your heart!

*Thanks Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group, Berkley for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Words can not describe how happy this book made me. If you want to read something that takes summer camp, the struggles of being a 30 something adult, and Sapphic love than this is the perfect book for you. I was smiling the entire time reading this one!

Not my usual type of read, but I was drawn by the exciting premise. It turned out to be pretty great! The strongest aspect of this book were the characters. Wonderful vibes all around.

I have never felt so seen in a character as I did with Garland. This is for sure my favorite of Bridget Morrissey’s. I was hooked from start to finish, I loved every single moment of it.

My heart is overcome with joy. That’s what I’m feeling right now. This book made me feel safe, seen, and loved. Garland Moore is one of my favourite characters I’ve ever read. Every page of this book felt like a gentle hug, being wrapped up in a blanket, and/or having someone play with your hair. It’s queer joy and finding who you are in the safest way. It’s belonging. No only did you get to see healing in Garland, but I felt this book heal my inner child. This is the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given a book. I know this book is going to stick with me for years to come.
