Sorry, but this book was not for me. I found it to be unnecessarily long and the tension/chemistry between the main characters was just not there for me. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you Netgalley and Harper Muse.

Piece of Cake is a slow burn romcom, following Claire as she struggles to make a living after being cut off from her family's fortune. She and Dom, a contracted social media content creator, work together on a wedding docuseries in an attempt to save a failing magazine.

Claire and Dom find themselves getting to know each other more and more as they spend time together working. Claire was a very hard to like... Even though she underwent quite the transformation, I still couldn't find it in me to like her. Dom was a bit better, I actually quite liked his character. The banter between the two of them was my favourite part, very entertaining.

The slow burn was too slow, next to nothing actually happened until the end few pages of the book. The book was also too long, with too many irrelevant details and internal monologues. It almost felt as though it hadn't been edited yet, considering there were many paragraphs that I thought were unnecessary. There were also a lot of acronyms, which may be all well and good for an American reader, but as an Australian reader, I had absolutely no idea what half of them were - especially when referring to airport codes.

Despite the cute (although extremely rushed) ending, unfortunately this book was a miss for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for a copy of this. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I love the descriptions of all the over the top weddings!! So many florals and massive tents. But I didn't love the slow burn. I mean it was so slow that nothing really happens and then you're expected to believe that they are in love at the end.

Overall, this was an ok read that is probably more aimed at a younger audience. It had a great premise but just lacked that certain something to make it special.

I thought this sounded super cute, but it fell short for me. It seemed to be trying too hard to be a rom-com and it just made the story cringey. I didn’t buy the chemistry between the main characters at all, and I felt that, on the whole, they were underdeveloped. The main characters were also rather mean and unlikeable, which made for a serious disconnect between the reader and the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I really liked the premise, but I think it tried to hard to be cute. There were a lot of over the top moments that just made me feel awkward and cringey.

I just finished this, in one evening, because I couldn't put it down! Claire is a former Texas socialite, who's living in Nashville now making her way on her own. She's a writer for a bridal magazine. Dominic is a bridal influencer from New York brought in to help the failing magazine.

Together they work to help save the magazine and get closer and closer! I really enjoyed their bantering and flirting!

Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC and to the publisher.

1.25/5 stars! This book was not ready for readers. The premise sounded kind of fun. I thought it would be rife with miscommunication tropes and grumpy sunshine energy. But the follow-through just wasn't there. Somehow, both of the characters seemed petty and unlikeable and I didn't buy their chemistry at all. There was an overall lack of personality in the book and I don't think I'd read something by these authors again.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
