This book was pretty good yet a little bit predictable. It reminded me a lot of thrillers I've read before, but somehow less developed. I don't regret reading it though.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and to the publishers for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I unfortunately DNFd this book pretty early on,a lot of books aren’t really capturing my attention lately. This is most likely a me thing but I couldn’t bring myself to continue to pick this one up.

This was an engaging thriller with many twists and turns. The characters came to life and I was so invested in how the story would end. I look forward to reading more from the author in the future.

Liz, Amy, Sami and Mo are childhood friends who have grown up with each other, knowing each other intricately and being throughout for each other. On the eve of their prom, at the slumber party, one of them dies and one of them is the killer. Cut to the present, Liz is a housewife and loving mother to Olive. She tries hard not to think about the night that destroyed her & her friends. But one day she receives a note, "I'm back. Did you miss me?" and her world starts to spin right away.
This book is told from multiple POV's, alternating between their childhood and the present life which is a thrilling roller coaster ride. As the book starts, you learn about their childhood - each of them with distinct personalities and backgrounds yet bonded by friendship and sisterhood. The author takes us slowly to the incident, alternating the setting with present - Liz meeting Sami and so on. Gradually, the cards are revealed, plot twists keep coming in and as a reader you are in for multiple surprises.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Loved this book! Reminded me of Pretty Little Liars. Friends are over for a slumber party, before dawn breaks, one of them is dead. One of them is dead, one of them is a killer. Fast forward, they thought they put the past behind them. But, then starts receiving notes. Couldn’t put down, would read again!

I am so impressed! Every chance I got, I was sneaking in a few pages of this thrilling book… Gripped my attention in a way not many books do

I absolutely love books with dual timelines. I also love books that unravel secrets from a group of friends. Thankfully, The Slumber Party had both!

The Slumber Party follows Sami, Liz, Amy and Mo and a tragic event that breaks them apart.

This was a super fun read but nothing groundbreaking for me. I enjoyed the ride and I’m happy I read it.

I was given an advance copy of this book from netgalley.com and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are truthful and my own.

This book was pretty good. Is it going to change the genre forever? No, but it's still enjoyable. Honestly it's worst 'flaw' is that it is kind of predictable but any fan of these books can predict the end a mile away.

I thought it was enjoyable getting to the end. I was never bored. I liked the characters, and I thought the dual timeline worked well. It was a good story about the ways the same trauma can affect multiple people in different ways. Overall I enjoyed it, and would read more by this author.

Shannon Hollinger, you are my spirit animal!!

Holy Crow, where the heck did this storyline come from? Hollinger, did an explosive job pulling me right in on page one . This book is everything a thriller lover could ever hope and pray for.

The entire time I was reading, I had my heart in my throat. As soon as I was able to catch my breath from one twist, I was hit with another.

Teaser :

Fifteen years ago: On a warm summer’s evening, four childhood friends gather at a slumber party… Before dawn breaks, the nightmare begins. One of them dies. One of them is a killer.

Liz was the bubbly girl-next-door. She could never have imagined how everything would fall apart.

Sami was the clever one, quieter than the others. She was meant to keep all their secrets…

Amy had the voice of an angel, destined for Hollywood. She would never make it there.

Mo was leader of the group, charismatic and protective. But she was not who she appeared to be…

They were childhood friends, on the cusp of the rest of their lives. They’d shared everything with each other. Or so they thought… Until one of them died.

Today: Liz tries not to think about the night that destroyed their lives. She focuses on her beloved husband and their sweet-eyed daughter. But when she receives a note, there’s no more running away: “I’m back. Did you miss me?”

A wave of dizziness crashes over her. Her best friend can’t be back. She’s dead.So who sent the note? What do they know? And, most terrifying of all, are they planning to make her pay for what happened…?

"One of us died. One of us is a killer." The marketing copy totally hooked me, and this book did not disappoint! Loved the way this author explored the complexities of friendship, and the twists kept me reading. Really enjoyed this one.

Overall really enjoyed this book. Wasn’t super shocked by anything and could really tell something was off with all characters for the the most part. I found it hard to really believe or root for any of them but I also was intrigued to get to the end and find out exactly what happened. I feel like I say this all the time bur another example of how evil people can be and you really can’t trust even those you love the most.
