I did enjoy this book a lot. I thoroughly loved the audiobook and was gripped throughout on my car journeys to and from work. But I felt there was just something a little missing to push this from a 3 to 4 star read.

It gripped me and I enjoyed the twists, but personally for me, something was missing a little. Would I recommended to those looking for an audiobook on the way to work? Absolutely!

The Doctor's Wife turned out to be a decent yet predictable thriller. Although, we are supposed to feel bad for Fern since she is the one getting cheated on, it is very difficult to sympathise with her when it gradually becomes apparent she is not that good a person herself. That doesn't mean the other characters (and eventually her victims) are any great either. No one is completely likeable and there is nothing new about the big revenge plot and its eventual execution. I mean Fern knows a damning secret about Drew which is connected to his medical profession and could ruin his career if it ever came out in public but Fern decides to remain formulaic in her approach to exacting revenge.

I listened to the audiobook and at 7 hours, 20 minutes duration it was a quick book to listen to. The pacing was quite fast and I liked the narrations by Sarah Durham and David Wayman.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture Audio and the author for the ALC of book. I listened to the audiobook at the end of January but got delayed in sharing my thoughts. I believe this is a series and book two is already out.

The thrill of a taut mystery is unparalleled. And add to the mix the unreliable narrators. Oh the confusion and the urge to know the actual truth. I had a gala time reading this book. Listening to the audio book gave voice to the characters and brought forth their personality well enough. Twists and turns all the way till the end. Much recommended!

The Doctor's Wife turned out to be a decent thriller, though it didn't bring any groundbreaking or entirely original elements to the table. Nevertheless, it provided an enjoyable and entertaining experience.

In line with its title and cover, the book delivered precisely what I anticipated, which is consistently satisfying. Its smooth flow allowed me to breeze through it effortlessly, and the alternating perspectives added a pleasant cadence to the story.

I listened to this book as an audiobook, which was a great way to consume this story. It was just one of those thrillers that somehow get better when you listen to them while doing daily chores.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing me with an ARC of The Doctor’s Wife by Daniel Hurst in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts out slow. And then you are lulled into thinking that this was a book about marriages that have gone bad. Then before you know it, the book has gone some directions that were unpredictable. The people that you thought were the good guys may not be so good. You will have to read it to determine what that means.

For most of the book either the wife or husband of one of the couples tell the story from their point of view. What are the limits to what you do to get even for someone treating you bad. Are there any limits? When you do evil things the first time - after that does it get easier and easier?

This was an audiobook that I continually looked forward to getting back to. The story is a domestic thriller with the Doctor and his wife having a game of cat and mouse with so many secrets and lies. I really enjoyed the story and the narrator’s did a wonderful job. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook.

The Doctor’s Wife was another great read by Daniel Hurst. Fern knows her husbands secret although he doesn't know she does. Drew is a doctor who everyone trusts, except his wife. Fern seems to have the perfect marriage, perfect husband, and perfect life; but looks can be deceiving. The reason they moved to a beautiful old property with a sea view, is because they needed to put their past behind them and it should have led to a fresh start for them. Unfortunately she finds out that her husband is lying to her again. He is using the power of his job to mess with peoples lives and get what he wants. I enjoyed this book and all the twists and turns.

Synopsis:
"He thinks his secret is safe. But she knows the truth…
My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming and everybody trusts him. Except me.
Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.
Except I’ve discovered my husband has been lying to me again. He’s using the power he has in his job to mess with people’s lives, and to get exactly what he wants – no matter who it hurts.
But he’s underestimated me. I’ve had plenty of time, in this big, isolated house, to think about all of his mistakes.
And my husband has no idea what’s about to happen next…"

My Thoughts:
I had this book sitting on my "shelf" unread for a few months. While the synopsis drew me in, I expected an average thriller - I was wrong. This story had more twist and turns then I had expected. Told from both husband and wife's POV's I loved being inside their heads through this journey. There were a few twists in this book that I did not see coming which made the story so, so good. And the ending? Phenomenal! I definitely want to look into more books by Daniel Hurst.

Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for the gifted copy of this book.

I loved this book! Daniel Hurst has now become an auto read author. I devoured this book quickly. I became obsessed with the many shocking twists sprinkled throughout this enticing thriller. This book has it all. Betrayal, deception and enough secrets to go around. I was immediately immersed in the world of Fern and Drew. The perfect couple to onlookers, but we all know appearances can be deceiving. The narration added an extra layer of mystery and suspense to this wickedly entertaining story. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

An easy listen with a cast of 4 main unlikeable characters. Was slow in parts and quite predictable but it managed to hold my interest and i like the narrator.

As usual another absolute cracker of a read from Daniel. Short snappy chapters to keep my interest. He writes books I don't want to put down.

WOW. I did not see that final twist coming and want to hear what happens!! This is my 2nd Daniel Hurst book and he has just been added to my list of authors that I will read whatever book they release! He's sooooo good with the unseen twists! Also the doctor - what a douche.

Edge of your seat psychological thriller about a doctor who moves to the middle of nowhere (near Scotland) in order to be close to his mistress. His wife, however, knows about the affair and goes along with his idea to see if he will change his mind and try to save their marriage. Really good right until the end, except for the epilogue which was a little silly, in my opinion and added nothing to the book. Well narrated and good accents.

I loved how they switched up the mystery / allure- usually you have to wait until 3/4 through a book before you find out various details. This wasnt the case for The Doctor's Wife, and while I enjoyed it I feel like the prologue / first few chapters put an idea in my head that i wasnt able to put aside while I read the rest of the book.

3.5
I think your average thriller reader will definitely enjoy this one.
I love a dual POV and this was no exception. Plus it featured a slow, layered reveal as well, which I'm always a sucker for, and this one keeps serving them up right to the end.

Without giving too much away, if you are into domestic thrillers, that centers on a lying partner that gets their comeuppance...well this one is for you.

The audiobook has two narrators for the dual POV, which I always appreciate as a listener.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for a chance to read and review this audio book. Filled with secrets and lies, this fast paced read held my attention throughout. Some parts of the books were a bit predictable, but that didn't take anything away from my enjoyment. But I never saw the twist in the epilogue coming.

This is a story about a doctor who convinces his wife to move to a small town, so they can have a quieter life. But after they arrive, it becomes apparent that there is a very different reason he wants to live there. It was a fast-paced, entertaining thriller!

Twisty and full of suspense. Good story and characters. Plot was on point. Overall I enjoyed it. A bit run of the mill for the genre, but not bad.

I enjoyed this book so much! Even though it had a predictable plot, that did not inhibit any enjoyment. This is a nail biter all the way. I also liked the very clever ending
