Thank you so much for the opportunity to listen this audiobook. This story is the perfect thriller of a wife getting revenge on her cheating husband. The narrators of this audiobook were so good, kept me hooked the whole way. Didn't predict any of the twists and plus the twist in the epilogue was fantastic.

Would love a sequel to this book to find out what happens to fern

I really enjoyed this one, got through it in just a day. Told from a dual point of view from Drew and Fern, husband and wife. Drew is the new doctor in the small town they have moved to.

Away from the city life to make a fresh start and allow for more time away from Drew's busy schedule. Or so the lie goes. But Fern has her own secrets too which will continue to be revealed as the story twists and turns to its final end.

I rate this Audiobook 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐stars and would recommend to those who enjoy their psychological thrillers!

Drew and Fern seem like the best couple. Drew is a doctor and seems to enjoy helping people. Fern is a city girl whose life is turned upside down when they move to the country coast. Drew has been keeping a secret, he's having an affair with a woman in town. Drew thinks he has a secret and that Fern has no idea why they have really moved to the country. Little does he know his secret isn't such a secret at all.

I give this domestic thriller 3 stars because it did keep me entertained despite guessing all the twists. It was a little impractical in today's world of security cameras and gps but it was a quick domestic thriller. I liked the main character of Fern and her cunning ways. This is my first Daniel Hurst book but it won't be my last.

At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book. I couldn’t STAND the doctor’s character (which I’m sure is the point) and that made it difficult to get into the story. However I was able to get over that and I definitely enjoyed the road that the plot went down. The PLOT TWISTS were yet another few that I didn’t see coming and they certainly kept me hooked on this book.

This was my first book by Daniel Hurst and I really enjoyed it. I would call this a domestic psychological thriller. They way this was told with kind of knowing the ending first and then seeing it all unravel from the beginning it all ended up there was really interesting. Especially with it being told from both POVs of Drew the husband and Fern the wife. Each chapter had me wanting to keep reading to see what was going on in the other persons head. I don’t think any of the twists were that shocking or surprising but I still felt all the tension and the suspense and thought it was an entertaining listen. Loved that it was dual narration and they both did a great job and were very believable.

The Doctor’s Wife by Daniel Hurst is a fast paced, deliciously deceptive, psychological thriller. It was a quick read (um, I mean listen). What a fun escape. Read this if you don’t mind despicable main characters. Ones that you love to hate. The “Doctor” is so engrossed in his own obsession with his mistress that he moves his wife away from her beloved city life to a small coastal town to be closer to (you guessed it) his mistress! AND after she ended it with him! You might think, oh, his poor wife! Not so fast. The “Doctor’s Wife” has her own secrets. You might love her… a scorned woman taking fate into her own hands… or you might also hate her. Ok, maybe both at the same time? You decide. Either way, it was completely entertaining. Four stars for me.

Oh I loved this, such a fun book to listen to on Audio.

Told through the eyes of our two main characters, husband and wife Drew and Fern. Drew is the town doctor and Fern his adoring wife ready to embrace village life as the storyline moves between chapters from each of their perspectives.

The ending is sort of the beginning of the story, you know there has been a death, and so the rest of the book is then about unfolding how we were led to this death, what happened, and obviously, who did it.

As well as present day in the small village the couple have recently moved to, we learn how they made the decision to leave the big city, again from two totally different perspectives, because trust me, these two have totally different stories to tell.

Now let me be perfectly clear, both the main characters are awful, but I loved them, especially Fern. I wish I could say more but even though you know what's going on, it's still best to go in blind, which I know as I write this makes absolutely no sense - lol. but trust me.

My only minor little irritation was the Epilogue. Argh, why did you have to go and include that? It actually really annoyed me and kind of made a story that was already pushing the boundaries of believability almost tip right over the edge into ridiculousness territory - but - I'm going to pretend there wasn't an epilogue, I didn't read it, and therefore rave about how much I loved this one.

This is a good one !!!! Full of twist, deception and betrayal , what more can you ask for.
When I read the synopsis of the Doctor’s Wife , I perceive that the story was going to play out as many books with similar tropes have in the past , however this one was refreshing and very satisfying.
The story revolves around Dawn and Fern , both are hiding secrets and relish in their manipulation of one another and others.
Fern isn’t your typical wife she is more like the wives that are portrayed on crime shows like Snapped or Deadly Women.

It is a fast paced thriller that keeps the reader entertained every step of the way.

I listen to the audiobook version which was narrated by Sarah Durham and David Wayman. The narrator’s voice was ok , I didn’t much appreciate her voice transitions from female to male as it did not sound authentic .

Overall very entertaining read !!!

I am still trying to process how I feel about this one. It was definitely a "page turner" for me and kept me listening wanting to know what happened next. However, I felt like it was a little bit predictable as I got farther along. There were a couple of "twists" that I didn't see coming though.

suspenseful, surprising. This was a mixed hit. Thought the protangonist made questionable decisions but overall I liked them.

Cat and mouse between Dr. Drew Devlin and his wife Fern. Drew moves them to the country for a better life but has ulterior motives. Fern knows her husband better than he thinks. Enjoyable audiobook told from both Drew and Fern's perspectives.

Another good read (or should I say listen?) by Daniel Hurst! Doctor Drew Devlin and his wife Fern have just reolcated to a small town by the sea from the city. The good doctor told his wife he wanted to relocate to have a slower pace of life, more down time. Is this the truth? What is Doctor Drew hiding from Fern? What are his secrets? And what secrets does Fern have?
This story is told from both Drew's and Fern's perspective. The way it is presented gives you information from both sides and you get a good picture of this marriage and the secrets they keep. The narrators both do a great job with the story. It is a quick read and you want to know how it will end. It even ends with a bit of a twist/cliffhanger.

Daniel Hurst is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. In this new novel, we meet Fern and Drew. They have recently moved to a remote area for Drew to practice medicine. Fern is excited and happy because she does not have to work and enjoys her status as The Doctor's Wife. Through narration from Fern and Drew, we quickly learn that nothing is at it seems.

We open with a woman looking out of her window as the body of a dead man washes up on shore. Alternating from past to present with Fern and Drew as narrators, we find out who that dead body is and how he ended up dead. This is quick read with short chapters and a predictable plot, but just enough twists and turns to not be over the top.

Wow, this was quite the page turner (not sure what the audiobook equivalent would be though HA). I listened to the entire book in one day because I couldn't get enough of this. Domestic thrillers are my absolute favorite genre and this was one of the best I've read in a while. The characters were deliciously wicked, cunning, and also naive in a lot of ways. The ending twist was a real treat, and I would love to see a sequel written based on it. I did suspect Rory's part in the plan before it was actually revealed and I was so happy I was right because it was such a wicked sense of justice. I did not see Rory's journey happening the way it did but when you look at Fern's character as a whole, it made a lot of sense why things happened the way they did. The only thing I would have liked a bit more of is Alice's character development and the development of the relationship between the two women as friends. I would have loved to see that play out a bit more. I am looking forward to more from Daniel Hurst in the future. It’s been a while since I read a book in one sitting but I’ve just done it with this completely unputdownable and page turning amazeballs read. Wow The Doctor’s Wife is definitely one of those reads . This book had me hooked from the very start with its twisty story full of suspense and the characters who you won’t know who to trust. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it certainly won’t be my last.

I’ve been seeing author Daniel Hurst’s books making its way around social media these days, so you could just imagine my excitement when I received this ARC audiobook to one of his newest releases, “The Doctor’s Wife.”

This was an intense popcorn thriller that I couldn’t get enough of! So many secrets, so much deceit, and a plan for vengeance. This is a story told in two different POVs (first person) and dual timelines. We follow around Doctor Drew Devlin and his wife, Fern. Doctor Drew seems respectable, smart and charming, while Fern is a loving doctor’s wife with a perfect life. However, things aren’t ever as perfect as they seem! Drew and Fern are both very unlikable characters who cannot be trusted. That’s okay though, because it makes things that much more interesting.

Doctor Drew convinces Fern they should move away from the city and settle down in a small village about 200 miles away. Just wait until you find out why he wants to move and the secrets he’s hiding. Little does he know, Fern is not one to be underestimated. She knows more than he thinks and she has plans of her own. A domestic thriller that will captivate you as the layers slowly unravel and the juicy secrets are finally revealed.

What an entertaining story with some twists to keep you on edge. Although some of the twists were predictable and weren’t exactly mind-blowing, the journey to get there was both enjoyable and satisfying.

I’d also like to add that the narrators of this audiobook, Sarah Durham and David Wayman, did a wonderful job bringing “The Doctor’s Wife” to life.

Fern and Drew seem to have a picture perfect marriage. Until they don't.

Firstly thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for this gripping audio ARC copy. This was such an exciting read and I was really drawn in by the stories and the characters. There was a couple of twists that I didn't see coming and made me want to keep on reading to see how it was all going to pan out. Really made me think how twisted some people are. I really enjoy Daniel’s books and this one didn't disappoint.

Told from a dual perspective, that of Fern and her husband Drew. The plot see’s the couple give up the busy city life of Manchester for the quiet and remote village life, on the border of Scotland. Drew takes up post as the local GP, telling Fern the move there was to allow him to work less and see her more… not quite the full truth is it Drew?

This book was a fast paced read (or listen should I say) that I couldn’t stop once I’d started. An easy read with a good twisty plot where you were never quite sure where it was going.

From an audiobook side of things, it was refreshing to hear British accents for the characters that added to the authenticity of it (especially when I’ve listening to a lot of US based books recently) Very well performed.

This is my first novel by Daniel Hurst, and in the end, I was pleasantly entertained. The story itself is short, fast-paced, and engaging. There are a few twists and turns along the way that make this domestic thriller a fun page-turner. While some who read this might roll their eyes and say something along the lines of, "Oh, I saw the twist coming from a mile away," the simplicity of the plot did not deter me from enjoying the ride.
