This book wasn’t nearly as light as I expected. Not rom com, much sadder and morose. Beautiful concept and writing. Lots of feels. This one might make you cry. Heavy, emotional and heartfelt. It’s about grief and finding yourself. Im not sure I was prepared.

Wow. Wow wow wow. The Seven Year Slip was SO good, I actually can’t even express how much I loved this. Much like The Dead Romantics this was a book deeply about grief. But Poston handles hard topics (in this case suicide) with such beautifully written care. The romance in this was delightful, I read and listened on audio and I honestly couldn’t put it down. Lemon and Iwan were everything. All the stars!

Ms Poston truly astonishes with the fluidity of her writing, with her eloquent, crisp style that pulls you in immediately and holds you spellbound until the end.

Oh, I just adored this! I didn't want to put it down at all, and if I didn't have any obligations, I would have definitely stayed up until 5 or 6am to finish it!!!

I've found that I love stories set in NYC—it's the familiarty of the city, knowing a street and a place and a landmark and grinning because I could be there too! It feels silly, but it's not bc familiarity is so lovely, I think.

My favorite part of romance books (I think only romance books, so far) is the small tragedies in them, which is weird to admit. That little bit of heartache the main character carries through the book—I always want more of it and discovering it throughout the book just makes everything else about the romance even better.

I adored Clementine, but what's more is that I adored her heartbreak about her aunt. It was so beautifully written, as grief often is. Poston really nailed that well.

And of COURSE I loved the romance! I couldn't get enough of Iwan, sweet guy he is. The friendships were amazing, as well—I knew Poston would write that bit incredibly. Fiona and Drew were as important to the story as Iwan was, and it made my heart so happy. Friendships are important relationships, too

I love this author! This is the second book that I've read and they've both been wonderful. The author has an interesting premise and I very much enjoyed the ride. I would highly recommend this author and book!

This was the sweetest story! i didn’t quite know what to expect beyond a romance with some magical realism and was completely swept away in this beautiful, swoony story of love and loss. I absolutely adored Iwan and the the beautiful depth of Clementine’s story. And I definitely loved the lemon pies!

Clementine doesn’t want to get hurt so she distances herself from the people in her life. That is until she find a strange man standing in her aunt’s apartment. As the build rapport, they realize that he lives seven years in the past. Her aunt always said the apartment was a pinch in time, and now Clementine knows why. She knows this man could be the love of her life but is she willing to open her heart up to him.

Oh how I loved this story! I typically struggle with magical realism, but not with this book. Poston created such a fun and unique world, and I adored all the foodie aspects in the story. I really wanted things to work out with Iwan and Clementine. I just loved them together and was hoping they would find themselves in the world outside apartment B4.

This was my first book by Poston and I absolutely fell in love with it. She is a clever writer and I really enjoyed reading about Clementine finding herself. The friendships in the story were great, and the way she described the trips Clementine and her aunt on transported me to the places they traveled.

I enjoyed the audiobook narrated by Brittany Pressley. The subtlety and sereneness were perfect for this story.

I look forward to reading more from Poston.

Finally read this book in February 2024 after having had the ARC from NetGalley for quite some time, and honestly I am extremely disappointed. The way I wanted to love this book. The way that I was fully prepared to become invested in the plot. And the way I was... not.

The good: the premise for the book was excellent. I mean what a stellar idea! A seven-year time slip and a love story to span the years? Sign me up. Another big hit: NO THIRD-ACT BREAKUP AND MISCOMMUNICATION. I mean for these traits alone I should have been running to the nearest bookstore to buy a copy.

But instead it brings me to the bad: the pacing absolutely ruined the book. The first half was bland, so much repetition and needless detail, what is happening here? By 40-50% I was like, "alright alright it is getting good." No. False alarm. Suddenly things pick up, characters are making moves and developing. 70% is like moving and suddenly sitting in an empty house when you literally only packed one box. Once the plot hit the climax, it didn't go anywhere! And then we get a rushed ending that ties everything up nicely, but gives us nothing else in terms of development. Truly some of the most intriguing details that "would have" made the plot shine, suddenly disappeared like dust.

By the end, I was irrationally angry at this book. And I felt robbed. I felt like as a reader I was presented with possibly one of the best romance book premises in recent history and then just Fyre Festival'd.

I realize this feedback is almost a year overdue. I apologize. I finally had time to read it and I'm so glad I did. In addition to being a lovely, well-written story, it also made me think hard about the relationships I have now versus the ones I had with the same people years ago. What a great exercise. I told quite a few people that I love them this week, some as overdue as this review.

I connected to this book from the get go. The way that Ashley Poston deals with grief is so real and relatable that anyone who has had to experience grief in any way can understand. The relationship between Clementine and Iwan is witty and raw. The time shift in this novel makes you think about your own life and how you would interact with those around you if you too were in that situation. We all wish we could have an eclectic aunt who leaves behind magic, and Clementine gets just that. All in all, I simply loved this book from cover to cover. I read it in one sitting and I can’t wait to recommend this book to other readers.

I loved the author’s first book, The Dead Romantics; so I went into this with high expectations and it did not disappoint! It may be one of my favourite romance books of all time. The magical realism paired with such lovable characters was so compelling; the perfect amount of comedy and angst woven together with a beautiful love story.

WOW. If this isn’t my favorite romance of the year I’ll be shocked. I loved everything about this book, from start to finish.

We follow Clementine, a book publish, as she is navigating grieving her grandmother and dealing with her apartment that she discovers time travels seven years in the past. Here she meets, Iwan, an aspiring chef that just moved to NYC. As we get glimpses of Clementines life in the present, when she returns to her late grandmothers apartment sometimes she is thrown back seven years with Iwan.

The plot of this book seems confusing but it was masterfully executed, so unique and FUN! The banter and romance in this book are also unmatched. I couldn’t get enough of this love story and was rooting for them the entire time. Both of the time lines were fast paced- I couldn’t wait to see how this book tied everything up at the end.

This book is definitely top 3 in my romance faves of 2023. I loved everything about it and I was rooting for our couple the entire time. I especially love the nickname he gives her. LEMON...iykyk. So freakin cute and heartwarming and I hope Ashley never stops writing paranormal/magic romances because I am her for all of them.

Usually timey wimey books confuse me but this one handled the time travel aspect so well and kept us informed and learnt the entire time.

Clementine must discover how to fall in love and stay in love, despite the fact that her apartment travels back in time!

I loved this book so much! It was so beautifully written. The story just sucked me right in. The romance was everything but it was also about friendship, career struggles, family and grief. There was so much richness to this book. Highly recommend.

This has easily become one of my top romance reads I've ever read and will definitely be one of my favorites of the year. The way Poston writes about grief and loss and unbecoming and becoming again is raw, vulnerable, brilliant, and evocative. Timing is central to this story and Poston ensures that her pacing and timing of scenes and plot developments are tight and right on time. This is such a well-crafted book with some of the most romantic descriptions of food I have ever read. I literally have 0 complaints.

I put this book off for way too long for absolutely no reason. I am so happy I decided to take the leap and read this book because it was absolutely incredible.

I am not the biggest fan of magical realism in romance novels but I’ll make an exception for this book. I really enjoyed the way this book dealt with a time loop and addressed the plot holes that typically come with that.

Highly recommend this book!
