Although this is #4 in the series I read it as a stand alone. Charlie Sharp, for very good reasons, has issues, including not trusting cops, or really anyone else except for maybe her cousin Roscoe and his parents. She has her own self defense business and as a side line helps abused women and children escape from their abusers. Brain Bradshaw is a friend of her cousin, a former soldier and now part of a joint task force in Laramie. He has had the hots for Charlie for a year, but she keeps him at a distance- because he is a cop. But when the bullets start flying because of one of her clients, he is there for her, to work as a team to catch the crooked cops and to keep her safe. It is a fast pace story with well developed characters.

I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Charlie is a self-defense trainer and knows what it's like to be in a domestic violence situation so will do everything she can to help those that she is wrong. Detective Brian is reluctantly helping Charlie trying to see if the the men that he works with are dirty cops. As he and Charlie try to find a friend of hers who might have been harmed by a cop it seems they stumbled into something bigger than it they could have expected.

This book was a trip there was just so much going on. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and I could see why Charlie would jump into the situation but that's wild at the length she would go through for someone who's barely even a friend. Luckily Charlie had Brian by her side someone that she knows and trusts because this could have easily turned sideways I mean he is looking into a possible crime that his coworker cop has done so it must be hard for him to be doing this. There was just so much going on with this book I had a hard and putting it down. If you love a mystery suspense book with a bit of romance you're going to enjoy this one.

The Cowboy State Lawmen series is fantastic and this book is the newest entry in this series. You do not have to read these in order, but you will want to read them all.

This story was full of twists, turns, and a great romance!

The heroine is one TSTL chick. But if she were smart there wouldn't be much of a book. I had a real problem with the heroine in this one. I get the trauma of her childhood and the barriers she has in place so she doesn't get hurt again. But her transformation was a tad on the quick side. One page she is telling the hero to take a hike and the next page she's in his bed. I got whiplash. The mystery/suspense was also lacking. No real surprises and no real mystery. This is not one of Juno Rushdan's better efforts.

Charlie Sharp owns a self-defense training school. She has vowed not to be a victim ever again and to help other women defend themselves also. When she is called by a client she goes and nearly gets blown to kingdom come. Fearing for her client, Charlie reluctantly accepts the help of Laramie Police Detective, Brian Bradshaw.

Brian has had his eye on Charlie for some time and knows she is going to be a tough egg to crack, but he is nothing if not a patient man. As former military intelligence, he knows how to wait things out and his plans for Charlie are for the long term. Charlie, on the other hand, hates cops, all cops and she is extremely leery of the Laramie Police Department that has been wracked by scandal and probably still has some rot that needs to be thrown out.

But even Charlie knows she needs some protection and backup. Just one problem - she just can't seem to do what she is told and continues to put herself in danger, causing Brian endless consternation and putting them both in danger.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Cowboy State Lawmen series. This is a fast paced story filled with action and suspense with a little romance and steamy moments mixed into it. I really like the characters, and I also loved the build up in this book. This book pulled me into it, and I could not put it down. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Intrigue) or author (Juno Rushdan) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This was a fast paced, quick read with a lot of action, mystery, and a nice sprinkle of romance. Charlie has a huge issue with trust left over from her childhood, especially when it comes to dirty cops. So, when someone comes to her stating that her law enforcement husband is abusing her, Charlie does everything she can to help her escape. No sense going to the cops who will cover for him. But Charlie is in over her head, and her cousin sends Brian, a detective he trusts, to help her. Can she let the walls around her heart and mind down enough to let him in to help and accept that he cares? Great characters, story, while a bit predictable, moved at a great pace and kept me reading the pages straight through.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Wyoming Mountain Murder is a great installment to Juno Rushdan's Cowboy State Lawmen series. The best part is, you can read it as a standalone and know exactly what's going on.

Charlie has issues, to say the least, but she readily admits it and prefers to stay to herself rather than risk sharing her life with someone. Especially if that someone is a cop.

Brian has had his eye on Charlie for over a year since they met at a dance. So, when her cousin called him requesting his help to keep Charlie safe, he couldn't say yes fast enough.

Little did he know that Charlie's extracurricular activities set her outside the law. Yet, even as a cop, he could see the importance of what she was doing, even if he preferred she didn't do it and put herself at risk.

When bullets start flying there's only one answer for Brian. Charlie needed to stay with him until it was safe for her to return to her house. Charlie agreed but she never agreed to do things his way.

That decision put her in a whole lot more danger and even Brian might not be able to save her.

The action and suspense was spot on for a well-written Intrigue and the pacing was perfect to keep the reader turning pages until the very end.

This is a wonderful series you don't want to miss if you love action and suspense alongside a sweet love story to melt your heart. Brian is an alpha hero who knows how to take a reluctant Charlie and teach her that love doesn't have to hurt.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Charlie is one tough cookie to crack. She guards her heart and never gets close to people but Brian has always been a thorn in her side.

Brian was attracted to Charlie the moment they met. He has been giving her time to get used to the idea however Charlie is in danger after a friend of hers goes missing. As Charlie digs deeper she finds connections to law enforcement and it poses a threat to her relationship with Brian as he is law enforcement.

Lots of twists and turns and Charlie doesn’t know who can be trusted.

Delivers on all the elements you are looking for in a suspense romance!

This book is part of a series, however is the first one in the series I have read and it can be read as a stand-alone. I am sure if you read them in order there might be extra little thing you know about characters that overlap books but did not feel like I was missing something picking this one up.

You can easily read the synopsis, so, what more can I tell you? It was a quick read, the pace was good with all law enforcement suspense romance must haves:
- Couple that start off with conflict
- Usually one is troubled, feels damaged
- Trust eventually given
- Sparks! Total off the charts chemistry
- Strong heroine
- Law enforcement good guy
- A crime that has put them in danger as the investigate to solve the mystery and uncover/stop the bad guys
- A race to save the one they love before it is too late
- Hoping they have not missed the chance to let the other know how they feel, to say I love you
- Romance scenes – this one is more PG than detailed steamy scenes

If this is what you have on your check list for this genre of book, then it will not disappoint.

Charlie is a self defense trainer and she also helps abused women get away to start a new life. She is approached by the wife of a cop asking for help to get away from her abusive husband. When she receives a desperate call from the woman she races to her home where she finds, blood, a lot of it. Is the woman dead or alive. Detective Brian Bradshaw is asked by Charlie’s brother to help her. Charlie doesn’t trust Brian, he is a cop and she worries about the “blue wall”. Charlie has to learn to trust Brian to get to the bottom of what’s going on in their little town, there is much more to this than an abused wife. This is a fast paced story with suspense and a romance thrown into the mix. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

This is book 4 of the Cowboy State Lawman series and my first book by this author. I thought the story was good but I’ve definitely read books that flowed better. I’d give it 3.5 ⭐️.

Charlie Sharp is a self-defense trainer. When she get a desperate call from one of her clients-a victim of domestic abuse, Charlie races to her home. What she finds leaves her fearing for the worst. Is Haley dead or alive?

Wyoming detective Brian Bradshaw comes to Charlie’s rescue and helps to investigate the potential crime when her cousin asks for help. Since he’s investigating a fellow cop, it isn’t easy. And Charlie had misgivings about working with cops, with good reason. Can the pair find the truth?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Charlie owns Underground Self Defense, it helps women learn self defense. A woman she is helping calls saying her husband is going to kill her. She goes out to the house and finds blood but no bodies. Charlie is almost killed when the house explodes. Brian was in special forces and is now a cop on the police force. He tries to help Charlie but she hates cops. She finally agrees but it becomes very complicated. Brian is disturbed because come to find out it's fellow cops. Now bodies are piling up and it's a tricky situation to try and catch the bad cops. Getting Charlie to trust him is the hardest part but Brian is up to the challenge.

Excellent story. Plenty of action. Suspense. A cop who has fallen for a woman with walls sky high around her heart. A woman who doesn't trust and is very independent.
