When Dale Brown first decided to switch away from his traditional genre I was excited. Long time fans have been rewarded with one hell of a new series that continues to get better and better.

Dale Brown has had me hooked from the beginning and Weapons of Opportunity did not disappoint. Cleverly drawn out scenes and a superior storyline set this one apart. Russia vs the United States in this action packed war is true to form Brown. Definitely a must read

Pavel Voronin and the Raven Syndicate are once again trying to destroy America...and this time they may just succeed unless Nick Flynn and the Quartet Directorate can figure out the plan and stop it.

This was an exciting book filled with danger and urgency. It was fascinating seeing the lengths Nick's team would go to in order to succeed in their mission. It makes me wonder if there are real teams with missions out there protecting our country in ways we never hear about. The final battle was pretty epic. It would make for a very tense action film.

Thank you to Blackstone Publishing for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

If you enjoy reading military-ops thrillers Weapons of Opportunity is a must-read. The story is fast-paced, full of details of incredible weapons, and details on how to conduct an undercover operation. At the same time, although the main characters resemble superheroes they show their human side, their fears and hopes. A great story and plot that hopefully will remain only as a story and never become a reality,
I thank Mr. Brown, his publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

I've read several books by Dale Brown and have always found them to be fast paced, interesting and hard to put down. This one was no different. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

What do you get when you mix an aging and ailing Russian President with a rich and powerful Russian oligarch hellbent on destroying the United States to return Russia to its former glory? And then add in a dash of Mexican drug cartel, Cuban military, stealth drone technology, and nuclear weapons? You get the plot of Weapons of Opportunity – an all-out, ceaseless, balls-to-the-wall race between a former superpower looking to rise again and the current world leaders seeking to thwart their dastardly plans.

Russian oligarch Pavel Voronin is not deterred from his past failure to strike a devastating blow against the United States. In fact, his new plan is bigger and bolder than ever, one that would change the balance of world power forever if successful. With the support of the Russian President, Voronin and his Raven Syndicate have built a fleet of highly advanced stealth drones, sneaked them into the United States, armed them with nuclear weapons and started a countdown until they are launched on their mission to strike strategic locations around America. But the secret organization known as the Quartet Directorate and covert operator Nick Flynn are on the hunt for Voronin and get wind that something big is coming. Now it’s up to them to strike hard and fast in enemy territory to put a stop to the destruction of the country they hold dear. As the old saying goes: Failure is not an option!

Dale Brown is known for delivering fast-paced, action-packed stories wrapped within monumental plots, and he does so once again in Weapons of Opportunity. The intensity starts off high and ascends into the stratosphere as the story progresses, elevating the reader’s blood pressure to borderline unhealthy levels. But that’s only because the fate of the entire world is at risk. And the plotting and scheming versus counterintelligence cat-and-mouse game leaves plenty of doubt as to who will emerge victorious. As a bonus the author throws in some new futuristic technology that is truly astonishing, which feels like an homage to the previous and long running McLanahan series in which innovative and revolutionary military equipment featured prominently.

As a result, this novel has everything Dale Brown fans will love. Nonstop action, Russia vs. United States hostilities, copious amounts of shootouts and explosions, and technology you need to read to believe. Just make sure to take your blood pressure meds before you crack open this thriller.

The Russians are trying to take over the world and it’s Nick Flynn’s job to try and thwart them. This book shows what could happen if our leaders don’t pay attention. Great ideas and a great book!

I received this book from the publisher and the fine folks at NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The story centres around a super-secretive US military unit led by a high-performing warrior called Nick Flynn. It is up to Flynn and his teammates at Quartet Directorate, a secret intelligence agency outside the control of the government, to save the U.S. from annihilation at the hands of Russia. The distrust of the intelligence community and the political elite runs throughout and Brown doesn't hold back. It's obvious Brown is well-versed in military and intelligence matters and the authenticity drips off the pages. Weapons of Opportunity is an intense, alarming technothriller that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

Upon finishing this book, it is my conclusion that it would be readily enjoyed by those who enjoy a strong read with international intrigue and non-stop action.I would easily rate this book a strong four stars out of five and am eagerly looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

As with all my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents worth.

Lord what a wild ride. It is up to Flynn and his teammates at Quartet Directorate, a secret intelligence agency outside the control of the government, to save the U.S. from annihilation at the hands of Russia. The distrust of the intelligence community and the political elite runs throughout and Brown doesn't hold back. It's obvious Brown is well-versed in the military and intelligence matters and the authenticity drips off the pages. Weapons of Opportunity is an intense, alarming technothriller that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. What doesn't seem possible is how awful the dialogue is. People would look at you weird if you actually talked like the dialogue in the book. They would also never talk to you again. Basically the worst, most uncomfortable small talk imaginable. Despite some of the unnecessary conversations, Weapons of Opportunity is a world-class thriller that shouldn't be missed.

Thanks to Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Weapons of Opportunity.

Yet another super novel by Dale Brown. I have read many of his previous books and this rates as one of the best.
The story centres around a super-secretive US military unit led by a high-performing warrior called Nick Flynn.
The plot is intriguing and is very pertinent in 2023, with the use of stealthy drones. The pace of the story builds up towards a very exciting climax. I really love the way that Brown describes the various weapon systems
My only little niggle is that the Cubans are still being considered ‘baddies’ by the US. it was probably true decades ago, but life and politics have moved on!
Brown, true to form, has seemingly set up the theme of his next novel in the closing chapter..

This was a very good book in a continuation of a series of a US group that is not beholden to the US government and works with precision and lethality to stop any threats to the US. Nick Flynn and his group are up against it this time. Vronin is back with a more audacious plan to finally end the US at the top of the pyramid and put Russia back at the place she deserves. This was a really good book that I enjoyed a lot. It had a bunch of slow spots that eventually led back to the action. Cutting a few paragraphs per chapter would make this flow so much better and keep the book moving.

I have been following the work of Dale Brown since his publication, decades ago, of "The Flight of the Old Dog."
In his latest series, the Nick Flynn series, Brown is true to his canon. The second book in the series, "Weapons of Opportunity," will soon be available, and I am very grateful to the publisher, Blackstone, for making an ARC available to me for my perusal. Brown can be relied upon for his technological prowess, his mastery of military tropes and conventions, as well as solid characterizations and riveting action sequences. I own most of his books, and have seldom been disappointed. One of the features that has grown as Brown's canon has developed is a thorough going and well founded distrust of the Intelligence Community in the United States and its increasing ineffectiveness and politicization (what is often referred to in a modern context as the "Deep State'). Notwithstanding his reservations about our political leadership and the increasingly inept behavior of those associated with what Eisenhower called the Military Industrial Complex, Brown has never lost his touch for portraying the sharp contrast between failures of public leadership and the patriotism of the average American soldier, sailor and airman (and women). This is what keeps me coming back to him. His deft understanding of military technology and the concerns of the men and women who must use it to protect our nation, from foreign enemies as well as domestic policy wonks sometimes divorced from reality or blinded by false ideological concerns.

What a wild action-packed adventure! With the addition of vividly described prototypes of cool futuristic armament, Dale Brown writes a pulse-pounding thriller that keeps you invigorated with enthralling shootouts and exciting characters written with the poise of a master of adventurous thrillers. Weapons of Opportunity is a must-read for readers who like their action sequences mapped to a 4k resolution.

I found it very hard to get past the first few pages of the book. The writing seemed disjointed and unengaging.

Dale Brown has written another hit about Mike Flynn with the Weapons of Opportunity. Mike Flynn's team sees hints that the US is under danger by a shadowy Russian tied to the government. He slowly builds the case but must finish before Russia activates the attack against the US. It's a well written novel and one you will not put down.
