I absolutely lapped this one up!
I hadn't read any Leslie Wolfe books prior to this one, but I will happily sign up for all her future tours now!
This was fantastic. It had all the elements I love in a thriller- fast paced, characters I rooted for, and plenty of drama and twists to keep me reading into the night!
I'm becoming a huge fan of medical thrillers for some reason- so if you like books like Do No Harm by Jack Jordan, I think you'd enjoy this one.

Compulsively readable with an explosive conclusion. I simply could not put it down.

Anne is a cardiovascular surgeon with an impeccable record. She has never lost a patient on the operating table until Caleb Donaghy’s aneurysm repair. After completion of the repair, his heart wouldn’t start back up. Anne tries to resuscitate his heart, but nothing happens. Could she have tried harder? Probably. Should she have done more? Maybe. But when the authorities show up to question her, she wonders what is really going on. Why is she being grilled about his death? Every surgery carries risk, especially open heart surgery. What is going on?

This medical thriller is told from two points of view; Anne, the surgeon, and Paula, the prosecutor. I loved one and hated the other, which made for great reading. This book rates 5 stars because it held my interest throughout and I found it vastly entertaining.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

I absolutely adored Leslie Wolfe's latest suspense novel and I am confident that she will soon become my go-to author for this genre. From the very first chapter, I was completely enthralled and on the edge of my seat, eager to find out what would happen next. The way the story unfolds is truly masterful, with Wolfe expertly weaving together a gripping plot and well-developed characters that kept me engaged until the very end.

The writing style is incredibly captivating and the pacing is spot-on, making for an unputdownable read. I found myself completely lost in the story, and I couldn't help but imagine this book being adapted into a thrilling blockbuster movie that would keep audiences at the edge of their seats.

I am grateful to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reading copy, which allowed me to experience this fantastic book before its release. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a captivating and expertly crafted suspense story that will keep you hooked until the very end. Leslie Wolfe is an author to watch out for, and I cannot wait to read more of her work in the future.

I did not see the ending coming!

Anne is a star heart surgeon. In the twelve years she has been practicing, she has never lost a patient, until today. She hadn’t recognized the patient before, but as he was on the operating table with his beard gone and a clean shaven face, she instantly knew who he was.

“But that doesn’t change the fact that once I knew who my patient was, I wanted him dead.”

The Surgeon takes the reader on a wild ride while we try to discover who Anne’s patient was, and why she would want him dead. Is she a murderer, or was the result out of her control? Who is this man from her past?

So much happens in the novel, but any additional info will lead to spoilers. Just trust me, you NEED to read this one! Leslie Wolfe is a master, and I’m her newest fan!

After the first chapter of this book, I thought I’d hate it. The first chapter bounced around SO much that I was so confused on when things were happening and who everyone was. It was a bit unnecessary and unorganized. I also found that the way the events were explained in the first chapter didn’t completely line up with how things were explained upon watching the operation video later on.

The second chapter which introduces Paula was also kind of scattered. They introduced her two colleagues, Marie and Adam. Then later they introduce Adam again and give a mor in depth character description as if we hadn’t already met him in the beginning of the book. Those two chapters and their chaotic-ness in comparison to the rest of the book aside, I loved this one.

It had quite a few twists and the layout of how everything played out was a really good pace.
I was beyond frustrated by Paula and she is high ranking on my list of most hated characters.

I loved the pacing and character development and how everything was all tied up nicely by the end.
I didn’t fully love how it ended as it seemed very abrupt. I was left wanting more. But at the same time, it all made sense and I still didn’t hate the ending. I just was left wanting more!

One side note of something minor that bothers me - Anne, who is the surgeon, is described as blonde but the cover depicts a brunette doctor??

This book is a page turner! It is a story featuring cardiac surgeon Dr. Anne Wiley. She just lost her first patient, and the story proceeds at a fast pace until the end. It’s not quite a medical mystery, but a good read.

This book is truly gripping and has you on the edge of your seat.

I really enjoyed the Surgeon by Leslie Wolfe, I found the writing to be just the right amount of descriptive with one hell of a storyline. Honestly, I couldn’t have guessed how it would’ve turned out. I really thought for most of the book that it was a classic affair gone bad but little did I know what was going to happen!

Ultimately, I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 due to some of the conclusion which I didn’t particularly enjoy. The fact that Anne ended up staying with Derreck isn’t my favourite and also that Anne sort of forgave Paula for a lot of what she did?

Despite this though I would still 100% recommend this book to others who are looking for a thriller with unexpected twists!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Finally getting to my @netgalley copy of The Surgeon. This is my first Leslie Wolfe book and probably won't be my last. A solid psychological thriller from an author who clearly did her medical research. There were a couple of twists I didn't see coming and the short chapters lend itself to a quick read. The Surgeon releases March 8th!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC, in exchange for an honest review!

I have to admit, this genre/type of book was a bit out of my comfort zone. With that being said, I am SO happy that I decided to take a chance on it! I’m not sure if I’d describe it as fast-paced, but I was hooked right from the beginning; I started and finished it in less than 24 hours! The suspense was constant and the twists were endless! There were points when I thought I knew what was happening or what the ending would be, but I was very wrong. The ending left me in shock! I highly recommend this to anymore who likes mystery thrillers and also to those who don’t tend to read books like this, but are willing to try it out! You won’t be disappointed! I look forward to reading more of this author’s work in the future!

As I write this review, I'm secretly giggling and giddy! I have never read such a fantastic thriller in my life!!!! I was constantly in suspense, holding my breath, and keeping an eye on my page count because I absolutely could not wait to see how the book ended!!!! My goodness!! The ending was brilliant, but I was like really???? You're going to end it like this, but in a good way!! If I could, this book would be 10 stars! Now I must purchase everything she's written!!

This book was delicious, start to finish! I could not put this one down. The storyline and characters were intriguing and I wanted to know the ending. I definitely did not see the twist at the end coming.

A compelling premise, for which the author obviously did a lot of research. Well written with a great twist at the end.

A renowned surgeon and wife suddenly finds her life in deep trouble. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I finished it in one day. I highly recommend this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookoture for the advanced copy of this book.

I was slightly underwhelmed by this thriller - less of a mystery and more based on the characters.

The plot had a very slow start and nothing really happened until after halfway through the book.

I found Paula extremely unlikeable (intentional, I know) but just so unlikeable to the point of being unreadable. I would have been more surprised by the twist at the end if she hadn't have gone off the rails almost immediately. I found Anne a bit whiny at times but she had other characters to keep her in check and on track to keep going and solve the mystery.

Great thriller/drama with a scorned lover? Count me in!
Quick, with decent character build up. It was a little slow at first but the twists were strategically placed where it had me consistently interested. The pace picked up a few chapters in. I felt like I was reading a more serious episode of Grey's Anatomy. I appreciated all of the accurate legal, and medical terminologies. It showed how much effort and research went into this novel.

The Surgeon immediately drew me in. Literally, chapter 1. I thought I had it all figured out, but man... I was wrong.
I grew to absolutely HATE Paula, and Derreck - Leslie Wolfe did a fantastic job with that, let me tell ya. I love having characters I love to hate (if that makes any sense.) I found Dr. Anne Wiley to be a little too clean cut and perfect.

Thank you Leslie Wolfe, Bookouture, & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Dr Wiley has an impeccable reputation until a patient dies on her table. Her first in 20 years. Did she kill him or did someone else.

A great story which kept me hooked. Slow at first but once you get into it, you can't stop.

Omg this book had me thinking about the ending for two days afterwards!!
This book had everything I love in a book, an interesting story line, deceit, scandal and a twist that I did NOT see coming!
I thought I had a idea on what was going on but I was so wrong.
This is the first book I have read from this author and will for sure read more of her work!
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thriller and will have you thinking about it days afterwards.
Thankyou to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first dive into Leslie Wolfe's work. Wolfe is definitely skilled at building tension as well as creating a character like Paula who is just absolutely filled with hate and very unlikable, and there were some wild twists as well as an ending that set up the potential for a whole sequel. But this one for me had almost too much of an imbalance of the ratio of introspection to actual action. The extent to which the main character, Dr. Anne Wiley, just absolutely AGONIZES and is wracked with guilt and anxiety is a bit much. Justified considering the circumstances which are truly heart-pounding, but it felt like a lot to wade through at times -- like it was keeping me hooked just because I knew if I got through another few pages of pacing, anxious thoughts SOMETHING wild would happen.

I thought this was another jealous mistress scorned book, but there was another layer to it. The characters weren't very likable so I wasn't sure who to root for, but the man who died was worse so I decided I was on the side of the surgeon. At times it seemed a little slow, but I finished it in one sitting as I wanted to know what was going to happen next
