This was a right page turner of a book, easy to read and lots going on.

The characters were developed well and I really engaged with them. I didn’t know who to believe at certain points which added to the intrigue.

The ending wasn’t quite as I expected, a nice little twist!

Solid legal mystery, although it got a little tedious after a while.

Matthew Brooks and Vanessa Lyons are in love--the problem? She's married and he's technically her boss. Both attorneys at a high end firm, Matthew has just been made partner and Vanessa could be following shortly behind. The issue is that relationships between partners and associates are forbidden. And when they are found out--they both lie and claim that there is no relationship. Where things go from there are filled with more lies, secrets, courtroom drama--and eventually murder.

If you like a good legal thriller, then you've come to the right place. This is as detailed and engrossing as you can get. The author obviously knows the legal system well (he should, he's an attorney) and the authenticity kept me invested in the outcome of the trials.

However, there's a bunch of repetition here. We live the story between the characters in real time. Then we rehash it in various ways, then we go to trial and get it again. Then we have another trial with another revisit to what happened. It felt like overkill. There are some surprises along the way, but some of the narrative could have been tightened up to make the story flow better. Also, I did not have buy in for the ultimate resolution/perpetrator of the murder. It seemed totally from left field, maybe I missed something, but I didn't buy it.

Overall, this is a decent legal thriller, particularly if you like your legal thrillers to be realistic and believable (unlike the other author's The Perfect Marriage)

I don’t read too many thrillers and try to avoid books set in big law for my own peace of mind; nevertheless, I took a chance on Adam Mitzner’s latest courtroom thriller and quite enjoyed it! The characters are not particularly complex, but the plot is twisty and engaging. Mitzner particularly excels at depicting courtroom drama.

In law school, Evidence was one of my favorite classes because it’s all about human psychology; the rules of what evidence an attorney is allowed to present to a jury is closely linked to the concept of bias. Evidence was also one of the more convoluted classes, because evidence that may not be admitted for the truth of the matter asserted might still be admitted for a different reason – for instance, to show the information’s effect on the state of mind of a witness. A jury is often permitted to hear evidence but told to only consider it for one particular purpose (and not to treat the statement as fact). If I’ve confused you, then at the very least I’ve succeeded in showing how challenging this can be to explain to non-lawyers, and emphasize what a terrific job Mitzner does of making some very complicated rules of litigation feel simple to the reader without coming across as pedagogical.

If you are in the mood for a fast-paced legal thriller, I definitely recommend checking out Love Betrayal Murder! Thank you to Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC!

Guilty or Not Guilty. You be the judge!
Love Betrayal Murder is a gripping legal thriller that will have you debating who is guilty from page one and it ultimately comes to a twisty ending I didn't see coming.

Vanessa and Matt are attorneys at a successful New York Law Firm. Matt has just been made partner and Vanessa is gearing up to become partner in the coming year. They're the perfect match, except for the fact that Vanessa is married. Vanessa's husband suspects she is being unfaithful. Soon a promising love affair has gone completely awry leaving some feeling betrayed and one person dead in the aftermath. Who is responsible? Who will be found guilty?

This was a smart and twisty legal thriller that read quickly and had me questioning who was guilty vs innocent chapter to chapter. I felt like I was sitting in the courtroom among the jury. This was fast-paced and entertaining and could easily be read in a day. I look forward to reading Mitzner's other books.

It’s been a while since I have read a legal thriller. This was also the first book I have read by Adam Mitzner, and I was not disappointed.

There are basically two storylines going within this book. The first pertained to Matthew Brooks and Vanessa Lyons and their pursuit of a partnership within their law firm, while also being in a relationship that breaks the rules once one of them becomes partner.

The second story line pertains to that flash of a knife resulting in a murder, as mentioned in the book’s description.

As we alternate between the past, the present of partnership within the firm, and then the present of the murder, Mitzner does a great job weaving all three story lines together.

Courtroom scenes fascinate me and the author’s writing in this area put his scenes above so many others like it in other books. Terms that might not be familiar to many of us, actions take by attorneys and the judge that might make us wonder, all of this and more are explained to the reader as part of the story. It is done through the judge talking to the jury and I loved it. It helped me feel like I was right there for the trial, and it flowed so well with the rest of the book.

This book had a twist that I was sure I had pegged. Then it was revealed and I shook my head at the pure craftiness of the author. Well done!

I will be reading more of Mr. Mitzner’s work in the future. Thank you to Blackstone Publishing for this copy of this book. All views are my honest opinion.

I read and enjoyed A Conflict of Interest by Adam Mitzner, so I was happy when my NetGalley request was approved for Love Betrayal Murder. This was really more like 4-1/2 stars for me and only not 5 stars because I guessed the biggest twist. I finished the book in two days - it was very hard to put down. Vanessa Lyons and Matthew Brooks are attorneys at a major NYC law firm. Vanessa is unhappily married to Bradley and has a young daughter Zoe. She and Matt are having an affair and hoping to spend the rest of their lives together. When Matt is made a partner the year before Vanessa is eligible to be nominated, their relationship becomes a violation of the firm’s sexual harassment policy. Everything is fine until Vanessa, to bolster her chances of becoming a partner, is assigned to the Carbone case. Matt is the lead attorney on the case and becomes her supervisor. This begins a series of events culminating in Vanessa being denied for partnership. I don’t want to spoil anything that happens after that, but the title of the book is Love Betrayal Murder, so you know what’s coming. I love Adam Mitzner’s writing and look forward to reading more of his books. Thanks to #netgalley #blackstonepublishing and #adammitzner for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I do enjoy a good legal thriller and I loved how Love Betrayal Murder has twists and turns in it, more than a legal procedural this one has an edgy who is guilty /what happened vibe. This is a plot with good pacing, keep you guessing and turning pages vibe.
Thank you Blackstone for the review copy via GetRed PR, I really enjoyed this book and will look for more from this author!

I enjoyed this fast paced legal thriller! I was really sucked into the court room drama and loved the cross examination statements throughout the book. The chapters were short and written well and had just enough murkiness to make me question what was going on and who was responsible. I would have liked to get more answers about why the person committed the crime because it doesn't quite fit for me. However, it was still an enjoyable book and I liked all the factual information on how a trial works. Adam Mitzner is a new author for me and I would definitely read more from him.

Looking for your next twisty courtroom thriller?! This one is it! It is equal parts 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿...just like the title.

I recommend going into this binge worthy book blind so as not to make you lean in either direction. Although I figured out the ending throughout the last 1/3 of the book it was super entertaining and I liked the courtroom procedural parts most.

If you’re in the mood for a fast paced, read in a day, entertaining book look no further. I did an immersive read on this one which was great and the narrators were fantastic!

Big thanks to both Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Love Betrayal Murder.

This is a smart and twisty legal thriller about love, life, and truth, that careens to a shocking conclusion you won’t soon forget. I love the books written by Adam Mitzner, and find them to be believable and twisty at the same time! (Probably because Mr. Mitzner is an attorney.) Love Betrayal Murder had the best characters. I felt drawn in from the very beginning and I especially liked Matt. I also liked how the #MeToo movement was worked into the story.

I loved where the author wrote this about his wife: She reads the manuscript several times, offers insightful comments, corrects my grammar without making fun of me, and encourages me to be the best writer and person I can be.

Honestly, I think it best if the reader goes into this book as blindly as possible, although I will add that the ending was amazing! I highly recommend this entertaining book!!

Thank you to Netgalley, Adam Mitzner, and Blackstone Publishing for an advance copy of Love Betrayal Murder in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely devoured this book as it was full of suspense and I was constantly questioning everyones intentions! Vanessa and Matt seem like the perfect couple until we realize that Vanessa is married. Watching Vanessa and Matt navigate their relationship while they dealt with position changes and lawsuits was a "trainwreck I couldnt look away from". I found the final twist at the end to be completely shocking and was honestly mind blown. Pick this one up if you enjoy a suspenseful and thrilling read that focuses on Love, Betrayal, and Murder! This one is out on May 16th!!

4.5 stars rounded up to 5!

This might be the best legal thriller that I have read in the last year! The relationship between two lawyers who are not married to one another leads to unexpected complications and a sensational trial.

A very interesting legal thriller, with two court cases, one for sexual harassment and one for murder, an intelligent thriller written by a lawyer so the details are all correct. An examination of what is the truth and can one possibly tell the whole truth and only the truth. An affair, two jobs ruined and then a murder, betrayal and heartbreak all the elements of a good thriller. 4.5

Thank you @adammitzner @blackstonepublishing @getredprbooks @letstalkbookspromo for my gifted copy. My thoughts are my own.

Today I am delighted to feature a twisty legal thriller that will keep you guessing!

SUPER SHORT SYNOPSIS:
Matt and Vanessa are coworkers in a prestigious law firm and they are having an affair. When their affair is discovered, they both deny it; but soon, Vanessa loses her chance of becoming partner. Vanessa brings up a lawsuit against Matt for sexual harassment on the job.

Then, there is a trial, a murder, another trial, and a surprising outcome! The title of this one is perfect!

This storyline kept me guessing! I knew from the title that there would be a murder. I just couldn’t guess who was going to get murdered! And then, after the murder, I had my suspicions about who the murderer was, but I was wrong! The revelation was a complete surprise- though when I think back through the book, there were a couple of clues!

Read this if you enjoy stories of betrayal and legal thrillers that keep you guessing until the end!

I don’t read legal thrillers often but on the rare occasion that I do I always wonder why I don’t try more of them. There’s something about a courtroom thriller that appeals to me if it’s done well and this one was pretty solid. As the title promises there is plenty of secrecy and betrayals and the twists were executed in a clever way. I think you should go into this one as blind as possible so I’ll just say if you’re looking for a smart thriller that feels a little different try this.

A secret affair revealing false love turns into betrayal and then murder. The lovers in question are lawyers and the scene is mostly set in a court room as they testify to their sides to their stories revealing the reality that there is always more than one truth. It’s the words one uses in their truth to tell their story to make you believe their truth is better than the other. It was a brilliant legal thriller with all the smart and witty lawyer banter and a plot twist that I never ever saw coming. It was a fast read for me because I literally could not tear my eyes from the pages. This is a must read if you love thrillers and legal thrillers.

Once this got going it was good. But it took longer than I felt necessary to get there.

This book definitely built the drama in the beginning. We find a couple that is engaging in an extramarital affair and on top of that because of workplace rules, their relationship isn’t allowed even without one part being married to someone else. So of course there’s drama. This particular part of the story covers about half the book and sets the scene for the final part - which is where it FINALLY gets good.

Clearly I believe it got VERY good because this was a mid to below mid level read until that second part kicked in. It was the most realistic court case I have ever read in my entire life. I was on the edge of my seat, I couldn’t put it down - I HAD TO KNOW what this jury was going to do!

I was left with some unanswered questions at the end - just something that was bugging me throughout the entire book but likely didn’t bother anyone else. Or maybe I missed the answer - which is also possible because I was so into knowing what happened I could have blocked out the answer I was seeking. Who knows - I sure don’t 🤷‍♀️

Either way, huge thanks to NetGalley for the ebook!

A fun, twisty legal thriller! Majority of this one takes place in the courtroom.
And even though I felt certain from early on about the “whodunnit” part, the misdirection was so well done throughout, that I found myself second guessing myself!! Gahh!
I’m going to be thinking about this one for a while!
Definitely recommend!
