Truth? Lies? You be the judge….or the jury!⚖️

Looking for a legal thriller that’s equal parts in and out of the courtroom? This IS that book!

Matthew and Vanessa are in love. Should be nothing but rainbows, bunnies and clear sailing as they celebrate their love. But it’s not.

Not by a long-shot.

At the top of the list…one of them is already married. Second, they work court cases together with one reporting to the other. See what I mean? This isn’t going to end well.

Just like the title says… Love, Betrayal, Murder.

Adam Mitzner crafts a captivating legal thriller, taking you on a journey where truth is only in the eye of the beholder. My opinions on who I liked/disliked, trusted/distrusted, guilty or innocent, volleyed like a tennis match. (exactly how I like my thrillers)

I devoured this book in two sittings. Even going back to reread certain points thinking I may have missed some breadcrumbs along the way. (Since I didn't guess the ending correctly)

I would advise to skim, or totally skip the blurb as I did. As with most thrillers, the less you know going in the better your experience will be!

This is my third read by this highly talented author. And I definitely need to take time to read more of his previous works until he provides me with a new release - please hurry Adam!

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing

I’m leaving five stars but was completely unable to read. No comments on the book.

Love Betrayal Murder by Adam Mitzner

Publication Date May 16, 2023
In 2019, I stumbled across Adam Mitzner’s book A Matter of Will. It was one of those legal thrillers I love – the kind that keep you up reading until the book is DONE. I hadn’t realized that he had been publishing since 2011, and I looked forward to reading more of his work. I especially enjoyed the Clint Broden series, and have recommended the books to several people (it’s always a plus when books in a series can be read as standalones and not lose any of their impact). I was happy to receive a copy of Mitzner’s latest, Love Betrayal Murder from Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for this honest review.

Clint isn’t around for this one, but there are plenty of characters, a twisty plot, and a complex trial that’s really well done. The story revolves around attorneys Matthew Brooks and Vanessa Lyons, who both work at a TOP New York law firm. Although both are associates when they first meet, Matthew bakes partner, which ias what Vanessa wants more than just about anything…except for Matt, with whom she has a torrid affair. Matt has a big case he has been working on for years, and when Vanessa is assigned to his team, suddenly they are in direct violation of company policy regarding relationships between partners and non-partners. They hope to keep things on the down low until the following year, when they expect Vanessa will become a partner and they can be open about their relationship. She has been assured her making partner is “a lock.” But her husband Bradley is VERY suspicious. Vanessa is shocked when she is denied partnership, and assumes that the affair is the reason. So, what to do? LAWSUIT!

The three words in the title are all important pieces of the complex plot: love, betrayal, and murder. It’s a fast read with twists and turns and surprises (although I saw the ending coming earlier than I usually do). I love legal thrillers, and this one was just a great antidote to the news of the day. Four stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Vanessa and Matt work at the same high end law firm in NYC. They are having an affair and Vanessa is married. This only becomes an issue when Matt becomes a partner and Vanessa is assigned to his case which is not permitted by the firm. They are found out and lie to their superiors about the affair, but Vanessa still misses out on making partner. Then there is a murder and it appears to be a result of this scandal.

This author is on my must read list and I was so excited to be approved for the arc of his latest novel. I sped through this one in a day and a half. I really didn't know where it was going until about 60% and then it was a question of who was guilty. I was really stumped on who to believe and then surprised by the outcome. I really enjoyed this one.
