When Freya Thorne finds a woman’s body on the beach, she is swept back into the nightmare of the past. She knows the similarities to her daughter’s tragic death cannot be coincidence, but nobody will believe her. Letters arrive with chilling threats. This stalker knows more about Freya than any stranger could. Weird sounds disrupt her nights, and she knows someone’s been in her house. As the stalker draws Freya into a terrifying game, she uncovers more questions than answers. Her life is being threatened, and she doesn’t know who to trust. Someone has been pulling her strings, and that someone is determined she must suffer. Because Freya broke a promise. And promises aren’t meant to be broken.

Go in blind because you will never guess any of what’s going on. This was a fast paced thriller, that instantly grabbed my attention and kept me on the edge of my street.

I found it hard to connect with the characters on this one. This really affected my rating. The pace was a bit all over the place and it didnt flow well.

This book was an ok read for me. I found it took me awhile to get into & I didn't read it as fast as I normally would. (it took me like a week to finish).

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I was really excited to get this ARC! That being said I did enjoy the story but the characters were a bit bit lacking. I had a hard time really connecting to either of them. The multiple POV did keep the story suspenseful and compelling.

This was an interesting psychological thriller. Freya, the main character, makes a lot of poor choices but it’s what propels the book along. My engagement with the story was enhanced by having the POV of both Freya and her stalker. This was an engrossing story and I loved the twists at the end!

I really wanted to love this book I had heard good reviews on it. But it just didn't grab my attention like I hoped it would. The characters weren't fully developed to me so I couldn't really make a connection with them. It was decent I don't regret it but it just wasn't a love for me. I can't hate a psychological thriller that just isn't something I can do because that is my genre!

When Freya Thorne finds a woman’s body on the beach, there are many similarities to her daughter’s death. She has so many questions and she is terrified.
Letters and texts start showing up and Freya realizes she has a stalker. This stalker knows everything about Freya’s day to day life. Everything she knows is being threatened, and she doesn’t know who to trust. She has secrets that she doesn’t want uncovered. She doesn’t know where to turn. This book will keep you guessing until the very end!

No Good Lie by Claire Stibbe is a recommended psychological thriller.

When Freya Thorne is out running early one morning she finds a woman's body on the beach and is again reminded of her daughters death. She is sure there are similarities in the body found to her daughter's death, especially a red ribbon on the wrists of both women. But her daughter's death was determined to be accidental, so no one believes her. Even more concerning is the fact that she is sure she has a stalker and begins to receive threatening letters. Can she trust anyone?

Chapters are mainly told from Freya's point-of-view with occasional chapters told through the voice of Edward, the stalker. Freya and her stalker are the main characters of the novel. Freya is a flawed character who is struggling with grief, while harboring secrets and fears. Edward seems to have inside information on her and his presence helps increase tension in the plot.

The writing in this atmospheric thriller is uneven, as is the pace, which made it a struggle to focus on reading at times. After a rather slow beginning, it does become more compelling later in the narrative. Adding chapters in Edwards voice was a good choice and increased interest in who he was. There are parts of the plot where you have to set aside disbelief in order to enjoy the novel. The ending is satisfying.

A twisy stalker mystery that will keep you guessing until the end. I thought I had it all figured out but I was wrong. It did take a little while to get used to the prose. There are some parts that are over descriptive without needing to be. The beginning was also little confusing, but once you get passed that, it's smooth sailing. Overall, a great thriller with plenty of twists!

I really liked the dual POV between the victim Freya and the stalker/murderer Edward. I wish more mystery thriller books did this.

Over all I think the writing was good, but there were times when it could have been better. There were a few things that didn't need to be added to the book and were'nt well developed. Such as the person who acted as a DS agent to Freya to get information. I don't think that was super necessary as it was never revealed who it was. I guess it could have been Edward.

But, then there were a lot of small things that we did get answers for. Such as the red ribbon on Elisabeths arm that matched the ribbon on Freya's daughter. Or who the "Lodger" was, I was worried when there were only a few pages left that was not going to get answered. But at the last minute it was.

With having Edwards POV, I was worried I was going to guess the identity of who he was. But I was shocked by the reveal. I never guessed it was Miles. With "Edward", threatening to release the evidence of their affair, it tricked me into not guessing him. I was so sure for a while that Jack had something to do with it and was trying to get revenge. So, it was really refreshing that he was not the villain in this story.

A stalker. And a grieving mother. I went into this with high expectations. It's got a lot of things that I love in a story. Sadly, while the writing was good the story jumped around a lot. Without delivering on the books promising beginning. It wasn't a bad book. Just not quite what I was expecting. Rounding it up to 3.5. and I will read from this author again. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read an Arc of this book

This was weird. I liked it but it was a lot. We have Freya, who is mourning, coping in unhealthy ways, and her husband who is I don't even know. I guess he's kind of gas lighting her. Then we have the guy she slept with who she worked with and he's a total weirdo.
Freya doesn't trust the cops at all I found that relatable. She decides to rely on her badass neighbor for help.

It was alright. Yeah I think I could recommend this.

This was like reading a brainstorm. One thing jumps to the next, the characters weren't fully developed and even while things were happening, it wasn't written like they were. This was just a little too choppy for me and although a good story was there with potential, it just never came through. Two Stars.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookprenuer for this ARC.

Freya has a stalker and he knows so much about her. So why can't she figure out who it is?

As "Edward" continues to drop clues, Freya engages with him even though she knows she shouldn't. She's kept so much from the police, and even her husband, that even when she's ready to come clean she can't. Complicating things are some mental health issues in her past. Is she making things up or is her husband gaslighting her? Is someone in her house or is she just imaging it? Who can she trust?

While the writing was at times difficult to follow (the author jumps to different timeframes within and between chapters with no discernable transition and was at times stylistically all over the place) it was a good story with some tense pacing.

Thanks to NetGalley, Hidden Gems Book and the author for an advance reader's copy.
