I loved the TV show so I was really curious when I heard about a novelization of the first episode. I was not disappointed - it's a great book with an excellent narrator. It stuck close to the episode if I remember correctly, but still seemed distinct and well-written. Definitely recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audio ARC.

The story captures the essences of the sadly too short lived tv show. If you are familiar with the show or if you have never watched it, this book is accessible for you. The characters are dynamic, the mystery interesting, and the setting filled with a fun retro vibe. I truly hope we see enough of these that it carries on past the shows run.

The narrator for the audiobook was excellent!

This book was hard for me to get into. I did enjoy it, I just found it hard to get through in some areas. The story was well written though.

Just Murdered by Katherine Kovacic is a stand alone novel that is set in the 1960s in Australia. This book is based on the Australian Television Mystery series, Ms. Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries which in turn is a spin-off of the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries series that was based on the Phyrne Fisher books by Kerry Greenwood. In this book, Adventuress Phryne Fisher is missing and presumed dead by the other members of the adventuresses club. A letter was then sent to the last known address of Phryne's sister which ultimately reaches her daughter Peregrine. Peregrine then goes to claim her aunt's estate and upon arrival gets drawn into a murder investigation in order to prove her ability to take her aunt's place in the Adventuress club.

I found this book to be interesting due to its setting and the author's ability to draw the reader in with complete descriptions of the area and characters involved. By having the protagonist required to prove herself before acceptance, the reader is given an insight into the core of the character as she pursues the obstacles that she encounters along the way. With the additional twists and subplots, the author also creates intrigue and misdirection that engages the reader through the final reveal. It will be interesting to see if the author continues this as a series.

The narrator on this audiobook did a relatively decent job of the main narration with regard to the pace and clarity, however, some of the character voices were so close as to be almost impossible to distinguish between them except for the connective narration.

I received an ARC of this audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I enjoyed this audiobook and the story, I was just as invested as the main character was in solving the crime.

An enjoyable cozy mystery. I liked and connected with the characters and hope that there will be a sequel, and also looking into watching the tv series.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* This was not a bad cozy mystery but it took me a little bit to really get into it. Would recommend though.

Set in 1960s Australia, this was a murder mystery that the new-to-town Peregrine Fisher gets involved with. After receiving a mysterious note about an inheritance, Peregrine arrives at the Adventuresses' headquarters. Making a grand entrance due to a misunderstanding, Peregrine finds out about her aunt, the Society of Adventuresses, and the murder that recently occurred. Seeing that one of the adventuresses is implicated in the murder, Peregrine sets out to clear her name. In the process, the adventuress is murdered as well, and Peregrine is now determined to clear her name and legacy and find out who killed both the model and the designer. In a male-dominated society, Peregrine paves her way and makes a few enemies along the way but ultimately perseveres. Despite all of the murders, it's an entertaining listen. The narrator does a great job.

I listened to this book on audiobook and it kept my attention the whole time. I thought it had a good storyline and banter, but there was nothing that stood out to me or kept me hooked throughout. I enjoyed the writing and the plot, but I felt there was something missing once I finished since one of the mysteries remained unresolved. Although the reader may have accepted the unresolved mystery, since the author kept referring back to it, I thought there would be some type of answer at the end. Overall, a good read.

Thank you to NetGalley for a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Just Murdered was a fantastic murder mystery book. I’ve been getting into those lately and this one caught my attention. It did take a bit for me to get into but it really picked up in the middle of the book and I sailed through the rest of the book. The narrator did a fantastic job and I would recommend this to anyone.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the early audio arc!

Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC!
I needed a murder mystery kind of book after not having a good book in so long. I’m still waiting for that 5-star read, but I enjoyed listening to this mystery. I’m always skeptical of reading timepieces solely because of preference, but this one didn’t bother me because (with some details changed), it could’ve been contemporary. I would definitely reread this one and, hopefully, have better things to say about it :)

I loved Just Murdered by Katherine Kovacic. I loved Peregrine, Detective Steed, and the Adventuresses' Club. This was just a fun, delightful, cozy mystery. I loved the narrator. I thought the time period was unique and interesting. I feel all the characters were well developed. And who wouldn't love to inherit a house, cool car, and become a member of the Adventuresses' Club?? I would love to read more about Ms. Fisher and her Adventuresses' Club

I am HOOKED!! I love a good cozy mystery and oddly I had not yet seen any of the Acorn series so as I was listening to this light dawned on me how many times I had seen the name and read descriptions of the series and yet never made the move to watch. Somehow this one pulled me in. Maybe the cover? The title? Nevertheless, it is a great story.

I honestly didn't know that this was based on a show that was based on a series of books before I picked this up. That being said, I will definitely be checking out the two shows and original book series. I really enjoyed this book even without knowing everything that came before. The mystery was supremely entertaining, and I really liked Peregrine as a character. Though I will say that she reads a little young for being described as almost thirty. There are plenty of great secondary characters that fleshed out the story and assisted our main character along the way. And I really loved that this was set in the 1960s. It really made the book feel colorful and full of references to 60's pop culture, songs, and fashion.

Overall, this was a fast-paced, well written, and very enjoyable cozy mystery. I can't wait to continue on with the series once book two comes out.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the audio-arc of this book!

Katherine Kovacic's Just Murdered is the first is the new Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries series and based off of the Australian TV series. I have enjoyed watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, but have not seen the subsequent show on whic this book is based. Peregrine Fisher receives a letter about her an inheritance from an aunt she did not know of. sBecause of this, she makes her way to the Adventuresses’ Club of the Anitpodes to find out more. When she arrives she is is not easily accepted by all into the group. Peregrine decides to prove herself worthy of her aunt's now empty chair by inserting herself into the a murder investigation. Will she have what it takes to live up to Phryne's legacy? The cheeky Peregrine uses all her talents to solve the mystery and you will have a grand time goin along with her on this adventure! I look forward to more books in this series.

I want book 2, and I don't know if it will be a series. This was pure entertainment. Yes, murder can be fun. I cite Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple. The synopsis nor the cover says much. With this being a cozy, I hate to cross the line.

There are serious moments -- the death of a parent, an inheritance and a huge move. There are funny moments -- leaving hair dye on a client until her hair falls out (you need to read it). The main character goes from zero dollars to more than she can spend.

It's a cute cozy. 3.5 rounding up -- I laughed out loud.

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Katherine Kovacic for an advance copy of Just Murdered in exchange for an honest review. I am always on the hunt for another good cozy series and I just found one in this series! Book 1 (Just Murdered) takes place in the 60s and follows Peregrine Fisher who is down on her luck. She finds out that her aunt has gone missing in the jungle and heads to Melbourne to inherit her wealth. While in Melbourne, she becomes entangled in a fun case and realizes she has a knack for being a detective of sorts. It was so fun to watch her outsmart some of the police force. Im looking forward to the next installation in this series and you can pick this one up NOW!

At the start of Just Murdered, Peregrine Fisher is unexpectedly summoned to a meeting of the Adventuresses' Club of the Antipodes, where she learns some incredible news.

When one of the Adventuresses is accused of murder, Peregrine jumped at the chance to help out. And so begins this cozy mystery…

This is a fun book set in Melbourne in 1963. I appreciate the strong female protagonist and all the characters were well developed.

I’m happy to hear that Just Murdered is a first in a series and am looking forward to following along with Peregrine’s adventures in subsequent sequels.

If you are looking for an engaging, whodunit book this is the book for you!

Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Katherine Kovacic for a copy of Just Murdered! This cozy mystery was perfect to curl up with on this cold spring day. Geraldine Hakewill did a fabulous job with the narration.

This was a really cute book and I love that it's a series, so there are more to look forward to. My favorite part of this book is that is all about badass women doing what they do! Taking names and getting stuff done and murders solved in spite of the police being a hindrance. I can't wait to see how the relationship between Pereigrene & Detective Steed develops. I also anxiously await the comeuppance of Inspector Sparrow. That's going to be sweet, sweet revenge for the Adventuresses!
