Our main character Violet has a new job dropped into her lap by her aunt - she is now an advice columnist, and one who takes her work very seriously. As she opens one of the letters that has come in, she delves deep and her search takes her to a small village where she discovers that the author of that letter’s name was Ivy, who is now dead.

Not believing it to be a suicide, Violet takes it upon herself to investigate Ivy's life, her recent marriage, and anything that would lead her to the answers she seeks.

With her interest sparked, wonderful instincts and the ability to ask the perfect questions, Violet just might be able to solve whatever it was behind Ivy’s untimely death. While too late to have helped via the advice column, Violet is determined to find justice for Ivy.

This intriguing first book in a new series is told in first person from both Violet and her sister Sephora's point of view. This book offers a seamless introduction to a delightful new series with enjoyable characters. I definitely look forward to the next book in this promising series.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Audio for the ALC of this book. I was so excited to receive Of Manners and Murder, and can't wait to share my honest review.

The year is 1885 in England, and Violet Manville is put in charge of her Aunt Adelia's "Dear Miss Hermione" column when she leaves for vacation. But when a letter comes in from a girl who is fearing for her life, Violet embarks on a journey to meet her. Unfortunately, she arrives to her town only to discover that the author of the letter is already dead. She now finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery as she takes charge to find out exactly what happened to Ivy.

This historical cozy mystery book the first is the Dear Miss Hermione series, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. The narration was engaging and I found myself immersed in the well-paced plot. I love a good whodunit and although I thought the ending tied up a little too easily, it didn't stop me from really enjoyed the ending regardless. The fun and quirky characters made this book a fun read also.

Overall, I give this a 4/5 stars

This is absolutely delightful book. I LOVED it. The characters are wonderful. I might say it slows down a little in parts but I get why. It is setting up a whole series so the deep dive on characters that might be too much in some parts, is just fine in this situation. Just a delightful romp!

I was delighted to get the opportunity to listen to get early access to the audio version of this book thanks to the publisher and Netgalley. It was a fun, fast-moving cozy mystery. I enjoyed the characters who were probably more "liberated" than one would expect from this time period, and the younger half-sister provided comic relief. I think the premise of the book provides the opportunity for new adventures in future books. The narrator did a great job portraying the characters, and I enjoyed her reading. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series.

This book is cozy mystery meets thriller meets historical fiction! Set in London in the 1800s, this book hooked me from page one! When Violet's aunt has to leave town, she asks Violet to take over her advice column under her secret pen name " Miss Hermione." Once anonymous writer sends in a letter describing how she is scared for her life! Violet takes it upon herself not only to discover who the anonymous writer is, but how to save her...unless it's too late.

I enjoyed getting to know the main characters and thought they were quirky and likable. The plot did become a tad bit convoluted at some points as there were quite a few moving parts that were a little difficult to juggle, but overall it wrapped up very nicely!

I'm excited that this is book one in a series and look forward to what adventures lie ahead for Violet!
