I love how fast I can read this series and be entertained!! I also loved the blend of Nordic vibes in this story. The cold icy landscape made a fun backdrop to this story and the icy monster Sorinda found!

I honestly wasn't sure if I would love this story because it wasn't about Alosa - but once I started reading Sorinda's tale, I was immediately entranced. There's just something about a private novel that I can't help but love!! I especially find it enjoyable when we have such strong heroines. Even if they're working through their own emotional issues from past trauma - or navigating new types of relationships - I appreciate reading those stories of their growth.

The idea of the open seas and adventure is always appealing... but then to add women's friendships and a dash of romance on top? **SO FUN!!!**

**Thank you to Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, Feiwel & Friends & NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. I received this book for free, but all thoughts are my own. – SLR 🖤

VENGEANCE OF THE PIRATE QUEEN was such a great addition to the world established in The Daughter of the Pirate King. I adored that duology, so getting to be back in that universe was such a blessing. I really feel as if this book was different enough from the other books that it felt unique and different, while also maintaining and carrying the best parts of the series. Filled with pirates, complex action scenes, some romance, and character growth, I could not get enough of this book.

I truly loved everything about this book. It follows Sorinda, an assassin who, for the first time, must captain her own vessel to find missing women who work for the Pirate Queen, Alosa, who also happens to be one of her best friends. It is on this journey that Sorinda must learn about herself and overcome her past traumas, all while trying to ignore the boat's navigator, Kearan, who bothers Sorinda because he seems to see right through the walls she tries to build.

While this book has romance, it comes second to the adventures that these characters encounter and the growth that emerges on this journey. Sorinda is extremely introspective and standoffish throughout the beginnings of the book. But as the journey progresses and the dangers emerge that the characters are facing, especially as outlaw pirates, Sorinda grows into someone that knows her worth and her value. It was the best part of the story to see Sorinda emerge from her shell, all while being a kick butt assassin who takes no prisoners.

The actions sequences were flawless and immersive. I also loved that everyone was kinda morally grey... I mean they are pirates after all. The story was paced well and had the elements of the original duology without having to have read it to begin with, though I think readers will be less confused if they do, as the author picks up almost right where the last book leaves off. Therefore, she doesn't fully go into all the necessary information or world building that might be helpful to new readers.

Overall, I loved this story and cannot recommend it enough. But I do think you should read The Daughter of the Pirate Queen duology to really appreciate how wonderful this story is.

Thank you to Fierce Reads and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This series is just fun, and after so long it's great to be back in Alosa's world--only this time through the eyes of her rather mysterious assassin. I appreciate the author's ability to depict violence without unnecessary gore and detail, while still portraying the ruthlessness of the assassin. There's so much to unravel about Sorinda's character. Those who enjoy the forced proximity trope will like this one.

Pirates, assassins, and ancient evil entities, what else could you want?

Revenge of the Pirate Queen
Releasing November 7, 2023

I loved Daughter of the Pirate King, and this was a super fun addition to the original duology!

This book follows Alosa’s assassin, Sorinda. Sorinda is chosen to captain a rescue mission, and has to step out of her comfort zone. She is used to hiding in the shadows and observing, but we get to see her learn how to be a captain and open herself up to others.

Honesty, I did find the story a big boring at first, but as it progressed I started to really love it. I enjoyed how the story took unpredictable turns. I also really ended up liking the bit of romance that occurred, and I found the male love interest to be very sweet. Character interactions were great, and the character development throughout was very well done.

If you have read Daughter of the Pirate Queen, you should definitely pick this one up in November!

It was a good read. Not my favourite by Tricia but it was decent. I had a hard time connecting to Sorinda. She’s not the most likeable or relatable character with her petty grumpy demeanour. I found the book had a very slow start and really didn’t pickup until about halfway through. I thoroughly enjoyed Daughter of the Pirate King but I just think this book was unnecessary however a bonus for lovers of the series.

The book itself is beautiful and the sprayed edges are a delightful bonus to any book collector.

I received this ARC via NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t know man. I was really excited for this since I adored the Pirate Queen series, but I couldn’t much get into this one. The violence and killing was a little too much for me. So I’m going to hold back from reviewing since objectively it was good, just not quite my style. Try this one for yourself;)

This book is absolutely fantastic. Levenseller hits it out of the park again. This story follows a new character, and I love how the storyline is continued but with new adventures and a new cast of characters. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC. I really like this author and especially loved the first two books in the series (it was supposed to be a duology I believe so not certain what happened).

Honestly, I could have done without this book. I wasn’t invested in our main heroine Sorinda nor her love interest. And their romance didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Sorinda changes her mind about him and intimacy real quick and the pacing was just off with a decision like that.

Honestly while the book is well written and the plot comes along just fine the series should have ended as the duology it was meant to be.

Roslyn and A from the original two books were the best characters this go around.

Spoilers follow:
Sorinda is tasked with finding missing girls and has to captain a boat for the first time even though she is an assassin. She doesn’t have the confidence to do this and is super shy and quiet. They meet a beast they’ve never seen on the water and kill it before being stranded on a remote frozen island where she unintentionally awakens an undead King of the UnderSea and starts a bond with him she doesn’t want.

Somehow she defeats him really quickly and I felt like all of this was super rushed.

This is a fun stand alone companion novel to the "Daughter of the Pirate King" duology. While the other books don't need to be read in order to enjoy this one, having a bit of background always enhances the experience.

All that being said, this was a rousing pirate adventure. Sorinda is her queen's vengeance, a silent assassin who dealing death to those who deserve it. But, sometime more is asked and so she must captain her own ship to rescue several spies who have been lost aboard the Land King's journeying ships.

This was a lot fun, watching Sorinda come into her own as a captain, rather than someone simply following orders, seeing her open up a little and maybe let herself begin enjoying the company of *gasp* a man!

This book follows Sorinda, one of the secondary characters from the first two books, as she is made captain of her own boat and assigned to help find missing crew mates of the Pirate Queen.
This book has plenty of sword fights, ocean battles, swashbuckling, supernatural elements and pirate fun. Just what should be expected from a book in this series. While I’m glad that Alosa and Riden from the first book show up and are still together I’m glad they didn’t upstage the new star of the series.
My favorite part of this book was the slow burn romance between Sorinda and Kearan (no spice this is YA) and the way he helps her overcome her conflicts from her past.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan for the opportunity to read and review this book in exchange for my honest review. I enjoyed this and give it 3.5 stars.

I absolutely love this fantasy world that Tricia Levenseller has created. I was worried about the third book because I loved Alosa and Ridden so much, but Sorinda really hooked me with her story. As soon as I finished the second book, I reached out to the author because I was obsessed. I am so thankful that I was able to receive a digital ARC!

Synopsis
Sorinda, Queen Alosa’s assassin, has been sent on a rescue mission to find some lost pirates. When she boards her ship, the Vengeance, for the first time, the pressure of being captain starts to hit. So does the realization that she has to take Kearan with her, the best helmsman Queen Alosa has.

Sorinda and Kearan have never seen eye to eye. But as the dangerous waters continuously bring more obstacles, a friendship starts to form between them. But when the biggest obstacle becomes saving Sorinda from the undead king, Kearan will stop at nothing to make sure Sorinda is safe.

Review
What a perfect ending to an amazing trilogy! I love Sorinda and her fiery spirit. She was such a strong female character. Her character growth on this mission was perfect. Her and Kearan’s friendship development was the chef’s kiss, and when he said “There is no way in hell I am agreeing to that”, I was SWOONING.

If you are looking for a series to read that has just the right amount of longing, slow burn and grumpy sunshine, make sure to check out this series!

I switched back and forth between the audio and ebook!

Daughter of the Pirate King was one of my favorite reads giving us this amazing, powerful female crew. Also vibes of Pirates of the Caribbean in a new original way. I have been waiting for our favorite crew member to get her own story. I have to say it took a bit to get use to her having her own POV as I felt the narrative felt different coming from her which was weird. Once I got use to it and finally felt the grove of the story pick up I was all in. I am so happy we got another story in this world and it was just as action packed as the others

Sigh. Look, no one is more shocked than I am to be writing this review. I have truly loved every book Tricia has written, and I don’t think I’ve ever rated one below 4.5 stars.
But this was…boring. And I didn’t connect with the characters. Truth be told I was way more into the bad guy! And my pet peeve is for things named in the book’s synopsis not to happen until HALFWAY into the book. I was even starting to think this would be 2 books, but then everything wrapped up super quickly and neatly at the end.
Nothing should be cooler than a lady pirate assassin. But Sorinda is SO closed off and cold that I just never connected with her. And she’s definitely the grump in this grumpy-sunshine pairing (and I normally like the grump more), but nope. And Kearan was bland and sweet.
Gah. I feel awful writing this, but here we are. 3.5 stars is generous for how I’m feeling.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced look at this book. All opinions are my own.

This was one of my most anticipated reads for this year! I absolutely loved Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen. I was so happy to get to know more about Sorinda! She was such an interesting character, and I loved getting to know more about her. If you love pirates, adventure, romance with pining, this book is up your alley. Tricia Levenseller has a way of sucking me right into the worlds she creates. This book was no exception. I read this in a day, I was so hooked! (pirate pun intended)

Levenseller's Pirate Queen world has hooked me from the very start. Getting a spin off was a fantastic treat and I enjoyed every page just like the first two books, highly recommend if you want a fun romp through a fascinating world!

This book was a fun pirate story filled with paranormal elements. Much of this reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean especially with the curse and an inexperienced leader. I did wish that it had more of Alosha. She was one of the best parts in the first two books of the trilogy. Levenseller always writes a good story and this is no different. If you read the first and loved the Pirates movies than you should check it out.

Sorinda is an assassin working for Pirate Queen Alosa when she gets chosen to captain a crew on a rescue mission. It’s not enough, though, for her to just captain the crew. Her chosen helmsman is the infuriating Kearan. Things take an even worse turn when they accidentally awaken the King of the Undersea, who just happens to be able to control the dead. Can Sorinda make it through her first bought of captaincy or was her mission doomed from the start?

I have to start by saying I loved the original Daughter of the Pirate King duology and was pleasantly surprised to hear there would be a third book. I was even more ecstatic to learn it would feature some of my favorite supporting characters — Sorinda and Kearan. This book was described as “pirates of the Caribbean meets the mummy” and it 100% delivered on that claim. The King of the Undersea and his curse definitely gave off all The Mummy vibes. Much like the previous books, Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is action packed and fast paced. I was surprised and impressed by how Levenseller handled Sorinda’s past trauma and Sorinda’s attitude toward herself. Additionally the slow burn development between Sorinda and Kearan was entertaining to watch unfold especially a certain knife throwing scene. All in all, I really enjoyed this spin off sequel and hope to see more supporting characters getting their own story (please write a Roslyn spin off in the future). If you enjoy fast past pirate adventures with a dash of The Mummy, I highly recommend picking up Vengeance of the Pirate Queen.

It was so much fun returning to the world of Daughter of the Pirate King! I was excited to see more of Alosa and Riden, and although we do get to see how they're doing after the events of the second book, this is Sorinda's story. I really liked Sorinda; unlike a lot of YA assassin characters, she actually enjoys killing people. She isn't necessarily a 'good person,' although she would do anything for her friends and crew. This is definitely a standalone, and I appreciated how everything was wrapped up at the end. I liked the romance too, and seeing how far Kearan has come since the original books.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I absolutely adore the daughter of the pirate king Duology, and this is a great continuation. The story follows the pirate queens, assassin as she leads her own crew. This story has adventure, romance, and a lot of piraty fun!

I’ve sailed through The Narrows and crossed the Aisling Sea but no pirate tale has completely sunk my heart and taken me for a ride like Trivia Levenseller’s “Daughter of the Pirate King” (now) trilogy. I absolutely loved Alosa coming into her power (book one) *and* her love story (book two); so I was delighted to continue my sea voyage with part of Alosa’s crew as her assassin Sorinda sets off on a quest to find a missing ship (book three). Sorinda has a dark past that she can’t seem to escape no matter how many kills she chalks up *and now* Kearan, her first mate, is being relentlessly kind and helpful much to her great annoyance and confusion (we the readers are much less annoyed and confused because Kearan is wonderful). Much like the marketing materials say, this novel has nods to POTC and “The Mummy” and I think it will satisfy the adventurer–and the romantic!–inside all of us.
