Many thanks to NetGalley and Graydon House for a free e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. This will publish May 30th!!

This is my second book by this author and I love her style of suspense, mystery, and twisty thriller writing style. This is the story of a small town haunted by a serial killer that kidnaps and kills its victims who are usually found in the seedy area of this small town where the strip clubs and hookers are working, and all go missing at the same hour, hence the Vanishing Hour.

There are 3 different narrators and I would say that this is a character driven novel. First, we meet Grace, a survivor of the killer as she managed to escape a tragic and horrific death. She is living in constant fear of being kidnapped again. Next we meet Aden, who returns to his hometown and his dysfunctional family when his father goes missing. Last is Kira, a mother who is desperately searching for her missing daughter, Brooke.

When you first begin the book, we meet the three narrators and quickly come up to speed on the chaos that their lives have become are as they try to search for their missing loved ones or hide out from the killer. Their frustration, anxiety and stress is almost palpable. The way these three storylines merge and come together was clever and very well done. The character development and writing is such that I was completely engrossed and finished this in one day.

This is a fast read. I did not have things totally figured out before the ending reveal which is always the sign of a strong thriller for me! I was shocked at the ending and the identity of the killer! Highly recommend!!

Wow! This book was so fast-paced and addictive to read. The story follows Grace, who once escaped her captor after being kidnapped years ago. Since then, she has isolated herself and rarely leaves the inn she runs. However, now more girls are going missing and Grace becomes involved for the search for the truth once it becomes apparent that the circumstances are far too similar to her own kidnapping. The multiple points of view were all intriguing to read from, and I quickly became attached to all of the characters. Once picking this up, I did not want to put it down! The writing style was both suspenseful and emotional, and made you want to keep reading until you got to the very end! Highly recommend this thriller.

Thank you to the publisher and net galley for the opportunity to read this arc.

I overall rate this story a 3/5. The plot was a bit all over the place- around 50% it made since who the killer was to me- so it was just waiting for everything to fall into place. The plot was a 3 but the writing was a 5- I enjoyed her writing!

Hour, I couldn't rule anyone out, as everyone seemed a suspect, yet seemingly no one at all. Consequently, the mystery and plausible solutions are engaging and suspenseful.

The Vanishing Hour By Seraphina Nova Glass- Audiobook And Final Thoughts

The audiobook of The Vanishing Hour is produced exceptionally, with all points of view labeled and clear (except when purposely not labeled because... mystery). Brittany Pressley always nails the assignment as a narrator. However, in The Vanishing Hour, she nailed the extra credit.

At one point, I wondered if Brittany Pressley purposely shredded her voice to bring across specific scenarios and actions with acute believability. She was purposed with nailing a female, male, captured, and capturer. Each one is done absolutely brilliantly. If Brittany Pressley didn't purposefully shred her throat, I imagine recording this audiobook did the job.

Ever since being abducted, Grace has kept to herself. That changes when women that look like her start to go missing. Alternating between three narrators, this delves into attempts to find the missing women and get justice.

I think it took a little to get to the suspense here. It had a little early on, but then Grace and Aden's chapters didn't have quite the suspense like Kira's did. I also found the whodunit pretty predictable, just based on who the narrators were.

Fantastic! I loved this book. Such a fan of this author. This story definitely keeps you guessing. This held my attention and I couldn’t wait to read more. Such a thrill ride! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Not only do I love books set in my beautiful home state of Maine, but I do love a good serial killer/kidnapping tale, and Seraphina Nova Glass weaves a good one, with a pretty shocking ending. Grace is a complex character with reasons to keep herself hidden away, but, once she realizes that she potentially has the key to solving the disappearance of other missing young girls, she courageously makes a decision to change her life. If you weren't a Seraphina Nova Glass fan before, grab a copy of The Vanishing Hour and then binge her entire backlist!

Seraphina Nova Glass is one of my favorite authors, and I was very excited to be chosen as an ARC reader. She definitely did not disappoint! If you like mystery, suspense, and mental puzzles, this is the novel for you!

The Vanishing Hour is about a young woman with a past she wants to forget who suddenly finds herself in the center of a string of disappearances that force her to rejoin a world she tried to hide from.

Written from multiple perspectives with each character uniquely developed, this isn’t just a mystery; it’s multiple mysteries woven together and solved piece by piece drawing you in more with every page. I love that Glass chose Kira, the mother of the missing girl, to be written in first person pov and not the obvious choice of Grace, the young woman with the secret past, who was written in third person pov. This expertly crafted writing style guides a fast-paced and heart-pounding series of events that I couldn’t put down!

This is an easy 5-star review for me!

This one sounded great and I was excited to read it, but unfortunately it ended up being just okay. The switching POV's felt clunky, the ending made me roll my eyes, and the kinda romance vibes with Aden and the innkeeper felt random and out of place.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Secrets, secrets, are no fun...
Secrets, secrets, hurt everyone....

The Vanishing Hour is a book full of secrets....and revenge. Disappearance keep happening in one town and it's an entire spider web as to why.

This is a thriller - but it does drag a bit and get confusing with multiple points of view.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book was really good! So good, in fact, that I spent most of the morning reading it instead of cleaning my house! I just had to know how it was going to end, and as they say, "Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow."

I enjoyed the multiple POVs and all the twists and turns. It would have been a five-star book for me except for the fact that the ending was a little rushed, and I didn't really agree with some of the decisions that the characters made.

Overall, this was a really good thriller, and I highly recommend it! This was my first book by this author, and I'm anxious to read some of her previous novels!

Thank you so much to @netgalley, @htpbooks
and @seraphinanovaglass for the e-arc of this book!

Well, I would summarize the main character's situation as 'out of the frying pan and into the fire'! When she runs from the man who kidnapped her, she finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Escaping to Rock Harbor for hiding was like falling down a rabbit hole, because it is a haunted place where young women who look awfully like Grace were taken away many years ago. Unfortunately, she might hold the key to unlocking the doors by delving deeper into the investigation with the secrets she's been keeping for a long time.

This book has an intriguing, heart-throbbing, dark, and sinister plotline. My hopes were too high before diving into this bleak and disturbing journey, but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the story's slow-burn progression and the overall execution as much as I enjoyed the author's previous novel. Many things were foreseeable from the beginning, and there was no surprise element or big twist, leaving me lacking the excitement that would have kept me on my toes.

It was a solid but slightly dragging and predictable read. I expected to finish it in one sitting, but it took me a little while to reach the end, and I lost interest in the middle.

Overall, it is still a readable, dark, psychological thriller with good characterization. I wish it could have been a bit more exciting, but I'm still looking forward to reading the author's next book, crossing my fingers that I will enjoy it more than 'Vanishing Hour.'

Thank you to #NetGalley and #HarlequinTradePublishing for the read/review of #TheVanishingHour by #SeraphinaNovaGlass. I absolutely loved this book from cover to cover. I feel I would relate like the mother in this book. I would add more stars if I could.

A decent thriller, was never quite on the edge of my seat, felt predictable and also seemed to rely on background info that the reader wasn't really given.

Thanks to the publisher, author and Netgalley for the arc.

I loved On a Quiet Street so I was so excited to read and review The Vanishing Hour! Unfortunately I found it confusing and very disjointed with the multiple points of view- I had to keep going back and rereading to try to follow the story. The flow just wasn’t there in this book. I did like the ending but overall I didn’t truly enjoy the book. Thank you to NetGalley, Seraphina .Nova Glass and HTP Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This story was hard to follow and I needed to start it over twice. The characters were not memorable and their actions were either predictable or completely unbelievable. Because each chapter followed a different character the cliff hangers often took dozens of pages to resolve which made key points forgettable. The author had a great premise, but I feel she missed the mark.

The multiple points of view really muddled the story in this one for me. It made it hard to follow things, and made the flow feel disjointed. The plot was a bit ridiculous and unbelievable to me - but that's fine, this is fiction and I can suspend disbelief...to a certain point. And that point is the end. It was too much for me to take.

I really hate to say it, but I thought this book was just ‘fine.’ I recently read On a Quiet Street and thought it was phenomenal, so maybe it’s unfair to compare this book to that one, but The Vanishing Hour just fell flat for me!
Seraphina Nova Glass writes interesting, complicated characters, and I really like her writing in general. Her plots always have good twists and turns, but the ending of this one just wasn’t satisfying to me. The identity of the ‘bad guy’ and how it was revealed was surprising to me, however, the multiple perspectives made it somewhat confusing and the ending wasn’t believable to me.
Overall, I’d still like to read more of this author as I think she’s still an incredible writer with unique stories!
This one just wasn’t my favorite.
I’d recommend this book to you, if you like good plot twists and excellent writing! It will be available on May 30, 2023!

Thank you to Net Galley and HTP Books for this advanced copy!
