This was such a surprising rad! I wasn't really sure what to expect but I adore fake marriages so this was lovely! I found it a bit hard to like Willa as she was pretty negative at the beginning but I think that's part of the charm. She grew on me and so did the story!

**Scotlander. The blurb sounded cute and interesting. The story was not. The heroine described herself basically as someone no one considered worth seeing and considering how she acted especially during the first half of the book this reader had to agree with her. The story got a little better once the setting moved to Scotland, but I never got the slightest bit emotionally involved with the characters or the book. I think I might be the wrong demographic. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley.

Firstly, as an Irish reader, this tickled all the right parts of my brain. To read a book set in my side of the globe, and add Scotts to the mix was 10/10. (Yes, Scotts and Irish are different but since we don't get that much realistic rep, we thoroughly enjoy books set in nearby areas!)

Cancer affects everyone at some point in their life and this was very well written to capture some of the nuances. Willa is packed off to Scotland, curtesy of her late best friend where she hopes to cozy up to hotty best friends brother Gabe until she's thrust into the path of Finn. Who just so happens to need a fake wife.

Queue fake marriage! Hot! But there's more than just hatred between them, and with Finn's family business at stake, we witness them careen from saving the business to falling in love!

A great read for those looking for something a little outside the norm of American literature!

Thank you Sheila McClure, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel!

This was a great story. I initially thought it would go in one direction but I was surprised at the turn of events. The premise was great and I connected with the characters. I laughed a lot throughout. Great book.

Being Scottish I was immediately drawn to this one based on the cover. Whilst I'd love to say I enjoyed it I found it difficult to get past the first few chapters. So I DNFd

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this book. Below is my honest review.

Willas best friend Valentina just died of cancer leaving behind a husband and two young kids. In her will, she gifts Willa and Gabe (Val’s estranged brother) a trip to Scotland for an immersive Outlander experience. Both are shocked, but agree it was a very Val thing to do. It isn’t like Willa has family nearby…all she really had was Val. And Gabe has regrets, if he can’t be Val’s big brother then he can be Willa’s. So, off they go. They meet a colorful cast of characters included Orla, the hostess, ChiChi & Alistair who are fellow guests, as well as Finn who Willa thinks of as the “catalogue kilt man.”

Why did Val send them? Was she trying her hand at matchmaking? Or does she want her big bro and her best friend to have someone to talk to, to help remind them they aren’t alone and Val is with them in spirit and through each other? Why did Gabe leave his family 20 years ago?

This book was … okay? Willa was really mean and judgmental the first half of this book. I never really liked her, and as a character driven reader, that made for more of a struggle. She shamed a young woman’s body, shamed someone else’s eating habits (to be fair they were wasting food), and was just awful in the first half of this story. She also, clearly, hates herself. That is fine, she can hate herself but she is just so woe is me. It is exhausting.

If only at least part of this book was written in Gabe’s perspective. He was a a very likable character. I’d have preferred getting to know him and reading more of his story. Or, at least more chapters from Finns perspective.

I love Outlander and romcoms, especially ones that deal with hard topics. I feel like I should have loved this, unfortunately, it was just okay to me. I’m sure there is an audience for this one. Sadly, not me.

A very lighthearted, pleasant and sweet read. I had so much fun reading and enjoying it. Definitely going to recommend to my pals when it would be out in the world

The never-ever-romantic got romantic! What’s that thing in the second half?! I feel betrayed. The good kind of course if there’s one.

This is such a dramatic yet kind of comforting romance read and I say it’s perfect for the spring!

I say it would be the perfect time to read it too when it comes out this summer. (I agree the cover is a bit underwhelming though!)

This is the story of a young woman who got hurt (well, betrayed) she leaves her glamorous overwhelming life at LA. Willa is trying her best to be herself and make herself happier but she’s not getting any good at it. Her bestie steps in and fixes something she cannot deny. Well, she’s gotten into a fake marriage. And let’s see if this turns into something we would all want them to be together. We all know what I mean. Heck!

The ending is so wholesome. I love the romance. I love the chemistry. I love the vibes.

Well, the first half got a little too dramatic for me. Well, it’s meant to be. But the second half is everything!

Thank you, Amazon Publishing UK, for the advance reading copy.
