Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC of this novel!
I feel I need to begin this review by saying that Ever After is one of my favorite movies of all time, so it should come as no shock that I absolutely loved this book! A little Bridgerton, well actually a lot Bridgerton, a bit Ever After, a lot of heart. The Duke is just so lovely, and while I wish Charlotte had come clean sooner, you know it never happens that way, especially not with how manipulative her step father is! All in all, this was good fun, with just a bit of spice. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of either Bridgerton or Ever After and don't mind the lying... Will definitely need checking out additional novels by this author!

Y'all are sleeping on Eva Devon! Her books are always a hit for me and this one I particularly enjoyed. If you want historical romances with smart, capable heroines with agency and heroes who are desperately in love and not alphaholes, you need to check her out. They're also a bit spicy, but usually not more than two or three steamy scenes, which is good if you want something that is heavier on plot and also sex positive.

The Duke's Secret Cinderella is a (surprise!) inspired by Cinderella. Except swap the evil stepmother out for an evil stepfather and make the stepsister a BFF. It reminds me a bit of the film Ever After and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Charlotte has been kept as a servant in her mother's house on the charity of her truly awful stepfather. But he has gotten one of the other servants locked up in a debtor's prison, so she dresses as a lady and sells the last jewel from her mother to save him. But along the way, she runs into a duke, accidentally hits him with a brick and leaves an impression. So things begin...

I found this to be a delightful romance and one that takes well-used tropes and does them in a way that had me thoroughly invested. I won't spoil exactly what happens, but this exactly what I want from my lighter historical romances. It is worth noting that Charlotte weaves quite the web of lies, though I think she has good reasons for doing so. I wasn't bothered by that, but some readers seem to be.

The audio narration is excellent! I received an audio review copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

Thank you Net Galley for an audio ARC of The Duke's Secret Cinderella by Eva Devon. I loved this on book! I'm not going to say much, cause if I do I'll soul it. But the characters were so well developed. Loved this Cinderella retelling.

This book was not for me. I didn't like the writing style, the main characters were so perfect they were boring. Not to mention the insta love on both sides made sure there was just no tension.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Eva Devon's books tend to be a bit hit or mess for me, but this series in particular has been the source of the many hits. Unfortunately, that trend ended with The Duke's Secret Cinderella.

I should have known that when we were served a hearty helping of insta-love that this book was not going to be my cup of tea. However, I kept hoping that maybe we would get some exciting characterization, commentary, or action that would spice things up. We did end up getting a little bit of the latter, which I did find interesting, but the characterization just fell so flat for me that I found myself completely uninterested in both of these characters as individuals and as a couple. Just because we are retelling a fairytale where the characters are fairly one-dimensional doesn't mean that the characters in this book need to be constructed the same way. I truly cared about the story of every other character in this book more than our main couple, which is never good in a romance. Honestly give me Francesca and the stoic Earl of Darrow any day!

I'm definitely still going to put up Eva Devon's works, but I think I might be a bit more discerning in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for a fair and honest review!

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this audiobook are. Giving this book 4.5 stars(marked as 4 stars on this scale). I enjoyed this cute Cinderella retelling. It was easy read and I enjoyed the romance. Audiobook narrator Sasha Higgins did a great job in this one. She was so pleasant to listen to.

I also got a ebook arc and leaving part of my review for that in here.

This Cinderella retelling follows the romance between Charlotte Browne, who is a maid in her deceased mother’s home because of her step father and the Duke of Rockford, Rafe. Rafe’s mother gives him a list that only has one name telling him it’s time to marry. Charolette and Rafe have a chance encounter when she is trying to free one of the other workers in the home for prison. Rafe is enchanted by Charolette but when they separate she doesn’t even give a name. Well hours later they meet again when Rafe knocks at the door of Charloette’s home to meet the name on his mother’s list, Charolette’s beloved step sister. From there lies are told, secrets need to be kept hidden but beyond all that the romance of the Duke and a woman who thinks herself as no more than a maid takes flight.

I very much enjoyed this historical romance. From Rafe and Charlotte’s meeting, to the first dance, to everything in between. I just thought it was a cute and sincere relationship. There where just moments in this and between this couple that made me swoon. Would of loved to seen more of the secondary romance between George and Francesca (the stepsister) more. Because I enjoyed those parts as well. Also the big secret in this really shocked me. I usually can spot a plot twist rather well but I didn’t see that coming at all. This book was also an easy read that I got lost in. Also loved Rafe’s family in this. Really become a fan of Eva Devon.
