I received an advance digital copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was previously an avid Elizabeth Chadwick reader, but for various reasons I haven't picked up one of her books in many years. When I saw the chance to request an ARC of her newest book I was eager to see if she was as fantastic as I remembered her works being. Mrs. Chadwick did not disappoint!! This was a wonderful historical romance where Mrs. Chadwick breathes life into a woman from history for whom we have very limited written records of her life. It was great that at the end of the novel she has included the information historians do know about Nesta and her life.

I really enjoyed reading this, it had a great concept for a historical novel. The characters worked in this time-period and I was invested in what was going on. The plot does what I was looking for and it worked well overall.

"Henry gave him a hard look. ‘You are asking for several extremely valuable horses as well as to govern from Pembroke and take a woman of Welsh royal blood to wife? You are audacious indeed!’ ‘They are her family’s horses, sire,’ Gerald replied, and then swallowed."
