3 stars!

I think unfortunately this book just really bored me. I felt myself nodding off at times because it just couldn't hold my attention, and although I don't mind the more mystery end of a mystery/thriller, this book was so monotonous and boring. Unfortunately not the book for me!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

In "Have You Seen Her," author Catherine McKenzie delivers a gripping tale of redemption, friendship, and the haunting echoes of the past. Cassie Peters, seeking solace from her troubled past in the tranquil surroundings of Mammoth Lakes, California, finds herself drawn back into the world of Yosemite Search and Rescue. As she reconnects with old colleagues and embraces the camaraderie of seasonal workers and adventurers, Cassie's newfound sense of peace is shattered when she encounters Petal, Jada, and a web of secrets that threaten to unravel her carefully constructed refuge.

The novel masterfully weaves together the lives of these three women, each grappling with their own demons and searching for meaning in the vast expanse of Yosemite National Park. Petal, with her enigmatic diary and unconventional lifestyle, adds an air of mystery to the narrative, while Jada's cross-country journey and social media presence provide a modern backdrop to Cassie's journey of self-discovery.

As the past collides with the present, "Have You Seen Her," unfolds with tension and intrigue, drawing readers into a labyrinth of secrets and hidden truths. The consequences of Cassie's past actions reverberate throughout the narrative, forcing her to confront long-buried memories and face the truth about herself and those around her.

With its evocative setting and compelling characters, "Have You Seen Her," is a captivating read that will keep readers guessing until the very end. [Author's Name] skillfully navigates themes of forgiveness, redemption, and the power of friendship, delivering a novel that is both emotionally resonant and thrillingly suspenseful. Fans of suspenseful thrillers and atmospheric mysteries will be drawn to this compelling tale of love, loss, and the enduring echoes of the past.

This was the second book I've read by Catherine McKenzie and it certainly won't be my last! I loved this book and all the different stories of the characters. A slow burn for sure but I loved every second of it!

This was not for me. The story was kinda slow and I couldn't connect with the characters at all. I was hoping for something different

This book was hard for me to get into and even harder to follow. A lot of back and forth between characters. This is the first book that I couldn't finish. I hope other readers had a better reading experience than I did.

Have You Seen Her just had this great suspense thriller vibe, well-developed characters, and a fairly realistic motive( can I write that?🤔🤣). The greatest thing about a C.M. novel is that even when I feel like her novel is a "limited series", as a reader her characters always make me think "potential season 2 option."

the talented Catherine McKenzie explores deep themes of trauma and revenge against the dangerous, atmospheric backdrop of Yosemite National Park. Full throttle action mingles with dark secrets and hidden agendas in a gripping thrill ride full of hairpin turns and jaw-dropping twists. You’ll devour this in one sitting — I know I did!

I actually did not like the writing style of this. It just wasn't something I enjoyed and while I tried it and wanted to like it, it ended up falling flat for me.

This book had the potential to be so good, it had a good story line upon which it was built and I liked the ending, but it just wasn't that suspenseful to me. I also cringed at the political undertones, it was definitely something I could have done without. Definitely not one of my favorites and it was a slow read, but I finished it.

Have You Seen Her is such a unique thriller, and I loved the different perspectives, timelines, and characters. I was shocked by the twist, and I was excited that I didn't see it coming! Also, the storyline with Jada and Jim felt very strongly inspired by Gabby Petito's tragic murder, which was a bittersweet reminder of a sad real life thriller that ended in the worst possible way. This is my first exposure to Catherine McKenzie's work, and I look forward to reading more of her stuff! I recommend Have You Seen Her for anyone who loves thrillers and doesn't mind one that's on the slow burn side.

Just as I've loved all of Catherine McKenzie's past novels, I've absolutely loved this one.

Have You Seen Her follows a woman on the run from her past set against the backdrop of Yosemite National Park.

Cassie is running from her old life in New York City, equipped with a burner phone and a new job at Yosemite National Park. After ten years, she’s rejoining the Search and Rescue team. She becomes friendly with a group of seasonal workers and summer vacationers. But Cassie is not the only one running from her past. And the past will eventually catch up with them.

This atmospheric thriller has two timelines. It includes a mix of Cassie’s point of view, along with journal entries, Instagram posts, and YouTube transcripts. In typical Catherine McKenzie style, Have You Seen Her was packed full of deeply hidden secrets, unexpected twists, and ever increasing tension. I really liked the dual plot lines.

The writer was really good and it kept me really entertained throughout the book but one thing that made it less enjoyable was the fact the characters lacked dept.

The writing is solid, creating a vivid atmosphere, but the plot is a mix of captivating moments and predictability. Characters are well-developed, though some lack depth. Pacing fluctuates, making it a decent but not outstanding read.

This thriller was incredibly atmospheric, and that is something I enjoyed a lot about it from. It was interesting to read about this character escaping her life from NYC and going 0ut west for a job. I enjoyed it because I felt like the author was placing me there at Yosemite.
