Wow! The Love Script has everything I love about a Toni Shiloh book – swoony romance, witty banter, and a strong faith thread. Shiloh has written a fun couple thrust into a fake relationship. Neveah is sweet and sassy and very real. Lamont Booker, People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive and Hollywood actor with a moral code, is the perfect hero. The journey from fake to real is funny, charming, and realistic. What would happen if a celebrity and a not-so- famous hairstylist fell in love for real? The Love Script gives the reader an entertaining look at one of the possibilities.

Shiloh’s inclusion of text messages between Neveah and Lamont and Lamont and his guy friends are a fun addition to the book. I enjoyed the way the author gave insight into the character’s thoughts through these texts as well as through narration. It is a great way to introduce other characters who will appear in subsequent books in the Love in the Spotlight series.

Shiloh is a master at including the characters’ faith stories as an integral part of her books. I love the way she incorporates the faith thread into her books in such a seamless way. It is just a part of who the characters are. Shiloh never comes across as preachy, but is unapologetically Christian.

I think that Toni Shiloh is wonderful voice in the contemporary Christian fiction market. I recommend this book and look forward to the other books in this series.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

I thought this book handled the fake dating concept so well, which is tricky to do considering it's a Christian fiction title. I liked both leads and the development of their relationship. I could see this being made into a Hallmark-like movie.

This novel is equal parts relationship fiction and swoony romance, with faith being front and center. Nevaeh and Lamont's journey from acquaintances to friends to a "real" couple is not rushed, which helps with the pace and the introduction of other topics and characters. Relevant issues like body image, toxicity in the media, and living your convictions will give readers something to consider and discuss. Shiloh, winner of the Christy Award for Contemporary Romance in 2023 for another title, has started a new series for numerous readers' to-be-read piles.

Thanks to Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley for the e-galley. I listened to the audiobook on Audible for this review.

The Love Script by Toni Shiloh was such a fun rom com. I loved how this book was unapologetically Christian and yet written with such grace. The message was clear and well written. I particularly loved how the main characters stood up for purity before marriage. The celebrity romance and all the unavoidable consequences made this such a fun read overall. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Bethany House and Netgalley provided me with a copy of The Love Script:

A Hollywood hair stylist, Nevaeh Richards:

Nevaeh Richards loves making celebrities shine, but prefers to stay behind her stylist chair, where no one notices. When a photo of Nevaeh and Hollywood A-lister Lamont Booker goes viral, her quiet life becomes the top trending topic.

The latest silver screen heartthrob.

The bold faith of Lamont Booker has gained him a platform, and the authenticity of his faith is well known. But the tabloids make the world doubt everything he says. His reputation on the line, he's forced to consider a fake relationship-something he'd never considered before.

An off-script love story.

Nevaeh and Lamont must prove their scripted romance is more than just an act with their careers at stake. Can Nevaeh trust her heart in a world where nothing is as it seems?

I give The Love Script five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

i think this is more of a “it’s not you, it’s me” thing. i really wanted to like this bc i love fake dating, but this was sooooo slow moving and the christian aspect was more than i like. it didn’t let me connect with the characters and completely took me out of the story. unfortunately, i didn’t really care how the story as a whole went.

thank you to bethany house for a gifted copy. my thoughts are my own.

This was my first Toni Shiloh and it will not be the last! I love a fake dating trope and this was done so well. Nevaeh is outgoing and engaging while Lamont was honest and authentic in the land of Hollywood. Their relationship starts as a ploy to maintain their reputations and turns into so much more. The faith discussions and the communication between characters made my heart sing. This is so good that everyone should read it.

I received an arc via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

I enjoyed reading The Love Script, set in Hollywood, California. Nevaeh is a hair stylist and makeup artist who wants to land a key stylist role on a movie or tv series. To supplement her stylist income, she works in a hair salon and visits clients in their homes. Her home visits include a client recovering from cancer who happens to live with her famous Hollywood actor son.

Lamont Booker is known as SMA (sexiest man alive) and Nevaeh is one of his biggest fans. She jumps at the opportunity to look after Lamont’s mom’s hair needs when he approaches her while working together on a set. Nevaeh is the invisible help in his home who Lamont doesn’t notice until a photo of them together is misrepresented and threatens his livelihood.

Lamont is a Christian who has made a public celibacy pact. When his agent proposes that Lamont starts a fake relationship with Navaeh to save Lamont’s endorsement deals and stop him being cancelled, he views it as a logical answer to his problems. Nevaeh’s life is turned upside down after she’s outed as Lamont’s girlfriend.

I loved how the fake relationship trope played out in the story. The morality clauses in Lamont’s contracts had unintended consequences. At the core of their fake relationship is a lie that they announced to the world. In a Christian romance, that deception needs to be addressed, and the consequences played out in the story. As a result, Lamont and Nevaeh’s faith is challenged as they spend time together and fall in love for real.

The body positivity message in the story is fantastic. Nevaeh is not a skinny Hollywood starlet, and the expectations that Lamont should be paired with someone who meets society’s perceptions of beauty and body type is explored in the story. I recommend The Love Script to contemporary romance readers who like compelling fake relationship romances set in the Hollywood celebrity world with a strong faith element in the story.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Bethany House for the advanced reader copy.

Over the last year, I’ve become a fan of Toni Shiloh’s endearing characters and strong faith themes. Even so, I wasn't sure I’d enjoy "The Love Script" as it centers around one of my least favorite tropes—fake dating.

This trope simply isn't my cup of tea, but since Shiloh had previously managed to win me over on another trope I normally dislike (bad-boy-turned-good in "To Win a Prince"), I was willing to give the book a shot.

Dear reader, I'm pleased to report that Toni Shiloh has done it again!

Somehow, she took the fake dating trope, turned it on its head, and penned a beautifully developed and completely believable romance I couldn't help but enjoy.

"The Love Script" is a faith-filled, thought-provoking novel with timely pop culture references, delightful buddy banter, and a loveable cast of characters readers will be eager to revisit in the upcoming sequel.

If you've yet to enjoy a fake dating book, "The Love Script" might just flip the script for you on this popular romance trope.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own honest opinion.

A contemporary Christian romance, The Love Script by Toni Shiloh delivered in so many ways! If you’re looking for a cute romance that will have you swooning over not just the characters and romance, but the relatability, then this is for you.

Meet Nevaeh. She’s a hairstylist, and she finally landed a major client: the mother of Lamont Booker, one of Hollywood’s most prominent actors. Meet Lamont. He adores his mother, so he takes notice when her new hairstylist is fixing soup when she’s under the weather. One thing leads to another, and a photograph sets social media on fire. It’s not what it seems… or is it?

This was my first read from Shiloh and I cannot wait to devour more. I found this story to be a refreshing example of people truly living their faith, and dealing with both the challenges and outside pressures that come from this. I try to do the same, and by golly it’s not easy in today’s world. This book is a terrific example of a strong female lead who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself, be her true authentic self, and have values even when others scoff. Shiloh demonstrates how to work through feelings with her characters and it really added a warm layer to the story.

This is one I would recommend to teens and young adults, as the messages and themes are terrifically on-point. It’s inspirational yet achievable, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series! Shiloh is now an auto-buy author for me, so clearly it’s coming highly recommended!

I think the romance could have brought me in but literally at every conflict, all that happened was "I'll pray for you"

This is a fake-dating rom-com that is set in Hollywood. It tells the story of Nevaeh who is a hairstylist but hates the spotlight and her employer Hollywood A-lister Lamont Booker whose world is turned upside down. The hairstylist and the heartthrob are caught in a compromising situation and are then forced to fake date. It's a romance book for Christians. It's well written , characters are relatable and the romance cute

What a fun story! This one had me laughing and in tears, just not at the same time. Nevaeh is a sweetheart and I loved her relationships and how loving and kind she was.

Lamont started out as an arrogant and self absorbed character, but he quickly became captivated by Nevaeh’s heart and really grew into his faith. I adore his guy pals—they were two of my favorite characters!

I enjoyed The Love Script and I can hardly wait to see what Shiloh creates next!

Neveah is a hair stylist hoping to land a job on a big film someday, and one of her current clients is the mother of movie star Lamont. When a paparazzi catches a photo of Lamont catching a stumbling Neveah as she leaves the home Lamont and his mother share, his Christian values are questioned. His agent proposes a fake dating arrangement, but neither of them are comfortable with the lie. They decide to date for real with no obligation if they decide they feel nothing for each other. Insert paparazzi everywhere Neveah goes, a job offer out of the country that seems too good to pass up, great text threads with his best friends, and two great families, and you get The Love Script.

I thought this was a fresh spin on fake dating since the miscommunication element was removed from the equation. They were both on the same page from date one as to whether it was real or a game, and I liked that. However, removing the “fake” from fake dating also took away some of the tension, and the romance was a bit lackluster for me personally. Overall, I did enjoy reading this and I definitely think this is one that closed door/kissing only fans would enjoy.

Thank you to Bethany House for a gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
