King Charles is the newest installment in the Little People, Big Dreams biographical series. This book follows the life of King Charles from birth to the present. I think the author did a good job glossing over tough subjects like Diana and Camilla but it was interesting and informative. It is geared toward children of ages 3-7. Matt Hunt created absolutely beautiful illustrations. The release is very timely with the upcoming coronation.

This is No. 97 in the critically acclaimed Little People, BIG DREAMS series of illustrated mini-biographies for readers aged 4-7. They are intended to introduce children to the lives of public figures across a variety of fields.

In this volume it is the turn of King Charles III: from his birth in 1948 through to the present day as he embarks upon the role that was always designated to him as the first-born of the future Queen Elizabeth II. The author focuses a great deal upon Charles’ love of nature and his commitment to the environment. As I spent a number of years working in this field I was well aware of his tireless work in these fields.

I was curious as to how Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara would address the matter of King Charles’ marriage to Diana Spencer, their subsequent divorce, and his later remarriage. The matter was dealt with the kind of sensitivity that she has exhibited in other of her books where there was controversial material. Time enough for young readers to learn of the more complicated aspects of peoples’ lives.

As usual the book concludes with a biographical timeline accompanied by illuminating photographs and a suggestion for further reading at an older level.

I really liked Matt Hunt’s art. He utilised quite a cool, pastel palette and some of the images were very reminiscent of classic British pastoral artwork with an emphasis on nature.

This is a very timely addition to the series and an excellent way to introduce young readers to our new monarch. As always, I am happy to recommend this book and the series in general to parents, guardians, educators, and librarians.

Adorable book geared towards kids. So it predictably kind of glosses over the more tragic bits like their divorce and Princess Diana dying. But for kids this is really cute and gives them a glimpse into the life of King Charles III.

I am a huge fan of these books or should I say as a family we love these books and to be honest if I could afford there are quite a few I would love to purchase. I kind of wish there was something like this around when I was a child. These books are aimed at 4-7 year olds, I think perhaps a little older would also enjoy them. The whole series catches your eye, your drawn in and what to find out about whoever the books about. I’m not a royalist however Charles becoming king is part of our history and not something we will see again (although my daughter may well) however I’m passionate about my daughter being aware of what’s happening now and to which will become history. I think this is a great book to have in your collection, a great one to talk to with your child. My daughter loved looking at this with me and having me read it to her, she asked question about the king and not only was it informative for her but myself as well. It’s simplistic in its telling with great illustrations m, it talks about the Queens Mother and the part she played in shaping King Charleses love for such things as art, music and nature. It talks about how busy the queen was and what his father was like. It’s a look into royal life in the simplest of ways, explained it a great way for children and it’s a great way for children to learn and make it feel enjoyable rather than making it feel heavy and hard as I often found learning about history. This book feels quite honest admitting that when Charles went to boarding school he felt quite lonely and even though for many boarding school isn’t relatable, the fact that this young boy felt lonely is relatable m, pointing out to kids that even though they are different, in many ways in what we feel we are similar. I can’t recommend these books enough, it was great to sit down with my daughter and see her reaction and by her reaction it’s clear to see she enjoyed it as much as I did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series is delightful. Beautiful illustrations, clear stories of resilience and a great introduction into biographies. I highly recommend adding any you are interested into your children's library! They also make great gifts!

I have enjoyed all the books in the "Little People, Big Dreams" collection, and this is just as good as the others.

This book follows the life of King Charles, from infancy through adulthood. It highlights both his professional accomplishments, but also aspects of his personal life.

I read this book to my 4-year-old, who sat interested through the whole book. She enjoyed the illustrations as well as the story.

I found the book to be informational, but also in a way that would appeal to young readers. The added timeline and photos at the end of the book are great for older children or parents, who want a little extra information. The illustrations in the book are also fun and eye-catching.

This book series is by far one of my favorite book series for children. Although King Charles is not someone I'm sure many kids will be able to relate to, it's still good book about a Monarch that will allow the reader to learn about their upbringing and humanize them.

Little Charles always knew that, one day, he would have a big job to do As the son of Queen Elizabeth II, he was a prince, and in the future, he was to inherit the throne of the United Kingdom .

As a young man, he developed a passion for one cause: the environment. Charles recognised that plastics and pollutants were causing harm to Earth, and as the Prince of Wales, he spent all his efforts championing climate justice and sustainability .

As a member of the Royal Family, Charles used his power to build important organisations such as The Prince’s Trust, a charity that works to improve the lives of young people across the UK .

And in 2022, when he became King, he pledged that he would spend the rest of his life serving his people with loyalty, respect, and love .

This book was one of her best!

These books were a wonderful find and great for small children to learn about these wonderful people of our past and in the present.

I highly recommend these books. I love them.

A beautifully illustrated book which gives children (or even adults) an overview of our King in a easy to read format.

I know that King Charles has had a long liffe, but there was very big gaps in the events of his life and they completely skipped over Diana and the boys. I was a bit disappointed about that.

A timely addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series, I can't say that I enjoyed this one because felt that a lot of his life was glossed over. It read a bit too much like a 'fairy tale' for my liking.

I was first introduced to the Little People, Big Dreams series with the Elizabeth II volume. It was published in her jubilee year. Exactly one month before her son's coronation, King Charles comes out.
The text is factual. The young reader learns that Charles and Diana have nothing in common, so they have divorced. Camilla has been his closest friend for thirty-five years. The author mentioned the infamous school years in Scotland as well. We learn that Philip was practical, but Charles felt alone in a Scottish school far from home.
I liked all the impartial wording mentioned. Adult texts could have the same vibe.
However, the main focus of the eighteen-page book is the King's interest in nature and ecology.
This publication provides children with a clear and informative text about King Charles III. However, it is also a great summary without the tabloid mess for adults.

This is a great history of King Charles. My only complaint is that it seemed to jump very quickly throughout the story. This would be perfect for an elementary reader looking to learn about current leaders and historical leaders. The artwork is beautiful and overall it’s a great way to introduce kids to the royal crown of England in a straight forward way.

King Charles is a timely addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. Brightly illustrated with very apt depictions. The book is easy to read for those emerging independent readers and the timeline at the rear of the book is enough to pique stronger readers' interests.

This non-fiction picture book tells the story of King Charles. It takes a look at many important stages of his life such as his first day at school, his wedding day, and his first speech. The book has lovely illustrations and very easy text to read.
I personally love the Little People, Big Dreams collection as they present the life of very significant people in our history in a suitable for children way. Thus, enhancing their intelligence and interest from a young age.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all parents who would love to teach their children about King Charles’s life.

The series of illustrated bibliographies Little people, big dreams by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, which tells the life of prominent personalities in a simple way, is devoted this time to narrating the life of King Charles III.
Living in the UK and being interested in royal affairs, I thought it would be nice to read this mini biography ahead of the coronation next May.

In general, the life and successes (a little less failures) of the new king are told very gently, and the volume is certainly within the reach of a child.
It tells of a little Charles who had to face many difficulties because of his future role, despite the love and support he received from his family.

I liked that mention was made of the support that the then prince has always given to environmental associations, and his passion for nature.

However, I was sorry how the fairytale wedding with Lady Diana was treated in a perhaps too simplistic way and, in the same way, his relationship with her “lifelong friend” Camilla. I understand that it is difficult for children to understand certain concepts but, putting myself in their shoes, if I had to grow up with the myth of a character and then discover when I grow up that he was not a transparent person as indicated by the book, I would feel betrayed and made fun of.

The illustrations are very simple, and illuminated by pastel colours. It’s very nice to see how some of them perfectly reproduce what was the historical moment (for example, the drawing of the wedding with Diana Spencer).

The final moral is nice, in which the reader is made to realize that, if Charles became king at the age of 73, one should not punish oneself if one does not have the same times or the same successes as one peers.

I would say this book is appropriate for kids in pre-K to grade 4. It gives the appropriate amount of depth on King Charles for that age group. Vergara includes information about Charles' upbringing, marriages, and philanthropic pursuits. Adult readers will know that there is more to his story than is included in this book (the mess of his personal life is relatively glossed over). But this book will fill a need in many libraries for kids wanting to learn more about Britain's new king once his coronation comes around. I will be purchasing it for my library.

The illustrations in these books always are so joyful. I often think about biographies as being about past events, and I think it's neat that this introduces children to something that's very relevant.

I love this range of books. They are all so well written, interesting and informative, for both adults and children alike. My 8year old loved this title as always and I always like to read them as well. They always shed some new light on the person. Highly recommended.
