Its a DNF for me unfortunately, I wasn't expecting anything too amazing but the writing style just wasn't it for me.

I ended up not finishing this book, as it was not for me. I won't be featuring it on my blog. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review.

This book is a fun concept and it was fun to read during Halloween, but it wasn't my favorite romance ever. I think I had trouble getting used to the concept of the vampire in the modern world, so some parts were confusing to me. I recommend if you want a fun, different holiday read during Halloween and if you list books with vampires.

I was soooo amped for this book, and while I wasn't disappointed, I did end up feeling a little meh?

I will say, if you are coming to this book for a silly campy time, you will not be disappointed. It is 1000% goofy, but not to a degree that is offputting, which I really liked!

However, I did have some issues that made me dnf. It's a 1st person POV from only one MC (with text messages from the other MC), and 1st person POV is something I struggle with in romance -- so that was a me issue, not an issue with the book. But I do think that POV made it a little hard to connect with the male MC. I also felt very little chemistry between the MC's -- there's a few awkward scenes between them bc at that point they're literally strangers, but by the time I dnf'ed, I still wasn't buying the build towards a relationship.

Also, in the vein of the campiness, while I think it mainly worked, I felt kinda weird about the male MC's social ineptitude after he reveals that he's been asleep for 100 years. It doesn't so much feel like Unaware Of Modernity, and more like This Guy Is Autistic. Which would be delightful, if it didn't feel like his ineptitude was supposed to be part of the punch line?? Idk. It didn't feel horrible, but it did feel weird.

Overall, if you're into paranormal romance with 1st person POV, this might be up your alley. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't love it either. But I do think there are readers who it would delight!

I love paranormal romances, but I haven't read a romcom one until now. It was a fun romp to read! I enjoyed the characters and dialogue.

A super cute paranormal rom-com that answers the question “How do you get a love interest who acts like Mr. Darcy into a 21st century romance?” (The answer: make your MMC a vampire who’s been asleep for the last 100+ years.) There is much historical romance- and Kdrama-esque pining (and our MMC even says at one point that he got his wardrobe inspiration from watching Crash Landing on You). This makes for a pretty G-rated romance aside from one scene around the 80% mark. Overall, an enjoyable piece of fluff.

This is more of a 3.5. I feel like the side plot with his family got a little off the rails. Also the idea of such a cheap apartment not giving her red flags just threw me off the story right away. I know its about vampires so not realistic but it was just such a weird occurrence that I couldn't take it serious.

The entire concept of this book was hilarious. Cassie is looking for a new place to live and comes across an ad in the newspapers offering a suspiciously low-priced rental apartment. When she moves in her new roommate acts weird -- he only comes out at night, keeps blood in the fridge and leaves her notes written in Darcy-esque English. That's because he's a VAMPIRE. I am so glad to see vampires are back in the romance genre, this book was so fun. I hope we get to read a book about Reggie too!

A fun and quick read for those looking for a unique romance book. The vampire roommate adds a new twist to the forced proximity trope and the anachronisms of Frederick compared to the modern sensibilities of Cassie gave a silly and charming air to the book's dialogue. Recommended for those who enjoy lighthearted, romantic reads with enjoyable characters.

This book was so much FUN! I really enjoyed the array of quirky characters with just an air of mystery.

I enjoyed that this book didn’t take itself too seriously and was able to make me believe in the friendship and growth between Cassie and Fredrick.

I did keep wondering at the end whatever happened to resolve those headlines of blood bank robberies though.

I ate this book up. It was a perfect early fall read. The authors writing style makes the story so enjoyable. I loved the characters and their interactions with each other. Lots of laugh out loud moments for sure. This author will be an instant read for me. Can’t wait to see what they come out with next!

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an ARC of this title

I need it to be very clear that although I enjoyed this book thoroughly I hated the male lead.
I know that he is meant to be written as someone born in a different time/from a different time but I just did not like him at all. However this story was cute and I enjoyed the mix of romance and suspense and horror tropes that it brought in and I can see this being extremely popular with the younger audience that I see at my library.

For someone that is not much of a romance reader, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’m so glad that even though this was a debut author and sometimes I have my doubts, this one did not disappoint!

My favorite parts were the humor and how our main male lead reminded me so much of Mr. Darcy! Not to mention the note writing back and forth was such a sweet touch.

I already can’t wait for the next book in this installment!

My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine

A charming, funny, and romantic debut for you to add to your #TBR

Cassie is an artist, but it is difficult to make a living. She is desperate to find an apartment in Chicago. Later, she finds a beautiful apartment with a secret to hide. Her roommate, Frederick J. Fitzwilliam, is unusual, sleeping all day, going out at night, and caring about her art. When she finds blood in the fridge, Frederick has a proposition for her.

"dark hair that fell rakishly across his forehead like he’d sprung fully formed out of a period drama where people with English accents kissed in the rain. Or like he was the hero from the last Regency romance I read."

The to-do list of Fredrick. The letter writing reminded me of the Regency era, and I liked it.

Fredrik is old, stupid, and cute. Clueless and at times embarrassing, but I don't blame him. He was cuteness overloaded.

Though his POV isn't there, his messages and diary made it up. His Google search history had me laughing.

The messages between Reginald and Fredrick. Love it. In his diary, there are so many things I loved about Fredrick. How the "yours" changed with every note.

“I simply do not understand this modern urge to share every errant thought one has with the entire world the instant it happens.”

This was deep, Fredrick (or rather, the author, so true).

“It was an admirable trait among men at the time. I gather that now, one must mince words often in order not to offend.”

There are so many statements here, like the ones above, that will make you think about how true they are.

This was funny, with witty banter, paranormal romance, and hilarious errors. It was a delightful debut. I look forward to reading more.

Thank you Netgalley and the author for the ecopy

Thank you so much, Berkley Romance, for sending me this book for free in exchange for an honest review!

I want to start off by saying: if you're looking for a light-hearted, fun, and silly read, then this book is for you! I had a great time reading this! I laughed a lot (I mean, between Fredrick and Reginald, it was hard not to 😂). It was such a quick read, AND there wasn't an 80% break-up, which always makes me happy!

When I saw this cover and book title, I was immediately attracted to it because you all know I love my paranormal romances! I might forever be a Werewolf girlie for life, BUT I do appreciate vampires, and I do also find them hot (just not as hot 😉😂)

Now, I did rate this a 3.5. The reason it's not a 4 star is because I felt like it was missing something, like I wanted more. It's hard to explain exactly what it was, but that's just how I felt after finishing it! I rounded it up to a 4 because besides that, I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading it!

《 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 [rounded up to 4] 》

This was a light and enjoyable read! Easy to get into. Definitely a contemporary romance with lots of references, but personally I love that! It’s a fun and cute paranormal romance perfect for a spooky season read!

I was really excited to read this but it sort of fell flat for me. The idea was so original and fun but execution as a bit of a miss. Frederick really seemed, dare I say, wimpy for a vamp. He wasnt at all intimidating or scary. I never felt their chemistry. Some parts were cute but it felt a bit lacking for me. Cassie was more interesting just due to the fact we learned more about her. I do wish Fredrick had been explored deeper.

I was in a pretty bad mood before I picked up this book. My Roommate Is a Vampire is a sweet paranormal romance that boosted my mood with plenty of giggles.

My Roommate is a Vampire turns into just that…. Cassie’s new roommate literally being a vampire.

This one started out a bit slow for me, BUT, the random quirkiness we get from Frederick is truly comedic in itself. Being so formal in the 21st century and modern society definitely doesn’t fit in, and he doesn’t realize it. Because of that, Cassie finds herself living with a stranger in a huge apartment for only $200 a month to help her get caught up on life and it’s a blessing in disguise.

Not only does she find herself an odd new friend, but Frederick learns more about how to fit in… until he’s outed as a literal vampire to Cassie and tries to fix things. After explaining his need for help of fitting in, and other difficult conversations, Cassie stays and helps Frederick learn, while focusing on her love for art.

I just… I wish there was more to the ending. I feel like it put us in an either or scenario and we don’t quite know what ended up happening (which drives me crazy in an ending).

Cassie is desperate to find an inexpensive place to live, but when a room in a great part of Chicago comes up at a ridiculously low price she thinks it must be too good to be true. Out of options she's willing to give it a try though. Plus her flatmate says she'll never see him because he'll be working all night and then sleeping all day. Because he's, you know, a vampire...

I really thought I was going to love this book...I mean the premise is fantastic, there was just so much potential! Unfortunately, it fell really flat for me. While it started out ok, it went off the rails towards the end, in what seemed to me, to be an unnecessary way. I also didn't feel any real chemistry between the two main characters, and honestly, I think this could have worked better if it wasn't actually a romance.
