In book one we see Layala (love that name) discovering who is honest with her. In book 2 she its beginning to discover her power. It's a great build up to what I'm sure is going to be a great book 3 (and hopefully a conclusion) to this love story. Book 2 builds the story around the pair and with various struggles we see their bond strengthen. We go from a slow burn (a VERY slow burn) in book 1 of their relationship to rather clean (spice 1 in that "it's" discussed) description of activities in book 2. Love this story overall and enjoy getting lost in their world.

I had already read the ebook of this and thoroughly enjoyed the audio. I love Bridget Bordeaux's narrating! It was very exciting to have this book come to life.

I love everything about this book, the twist and turns and that ending... I cannot wait for the next one and the next audio!

This book was an roller-coaster of a read! It was an epic adventure from start to finish. The world-building continued to enthrall and amaze me, we saw new places and creatures. We meet new friends and foes are introduced along Layala and Thane’s journey. You definitely get a lot more plot development this round and I think justice was done to both characters being able to see them separate (which was so emotional) and together. Layala has so much growth in this book, she gets a better chance to really find herself and her place in this world, Thane continues to be all in his glory and badassness stubbornness as he lays down that no matter what that Layala is his. I loved those intimate moments between them, but I was hoping for some more spicness, I feel like this book could be labeld as upper YA. It was interesting to see the connection between the two of them grow, despite no loner having a mate bond, and it showed they don't need it to feel for each other.

I cannot wait for what happens next in their journey, the last few chapters throws out some HUGE twists, which I was beginning to suspect but then we are capped off with a massive cliffhanger I did not see coming. I can't wait for the third book!

In the words of Layala herself; holy shit. I did not see that coming. This character development and story progressing had me hooked. Beautifully written and had me yearning for more. I need a book 3! The voice actors did an amazing job in differentiating between characters and appropriately capturing the tones of writing. 100% going to be recommending this to my fellow book lovers

Long Live the Elf Queen is the sequel to Bow Before the Elf Queen, and it continues to follow Layala and Thane. In this book, they must fight for their love as well as learn the truth behind Layala’s powers.

Once again I need to start out by mentioning how gorgeous the cover is. Both books in this series have stunning cover art. It was interesting to see how Layala and Thane handled being separated. Layala underwent increased character development in this installment all while keeping true to her fiery temperament. I also really enjoyed the continued world building. Tifapine continues to be a favorite character of mine. I was really excited to see the increased action and adventure in this book. That ending, though. I anticipated certain elements of the plot twist, but I wasn’t anticipating all of it. I’m really excited to see where the next installment in the series goes.

Listening to the audiobook version of this story was really enjoyable. Having two different narrators act out the different characters helped make the experience more immersive. I believe both narrators did a great job of the actual narration as far as pronunciation, inflection, and adding emotion to their line deliveries. I did listen to the audiobook at a faster than normal narration, but I do that with all audiobooks to stay invested.

4.25 stars, 2 spice rating. I really enjoyed this audiobook, and think book 2 was better than book 1. I enjoyed the character devolvements, the continued world building and the plot is starting to get more exciting and entertaining. The cliffhanger ending was painful, and I can't wait for book 3.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I loved seeing the MC’s growth throughout the second book and I really enjoyed learning more about the politics and history of Palenor. I do have to say that ending books on cliffhangers frustrates me only because I can’t wait to see what happens next! All in all this series is panning out to be a good fantasy series in my eyes😌 As for it being an audiobook; normally I’m not very fond of audiobooks I’d much rather read them but I loved the narrator for this and I was so engrossed in the story I was finding any excuse to listen to the book.

After loving “Bow before the Elf Queen” the sequel did not disappoint.

Not only did we have some more fantastic world building, we got some great new depth to characters and story line.

This is a great adventure fantasy with romantasy thrown in. This book is definitely more spicy then the first but still YA (couldn’t stop giggling when the word humping was pulled out multiple times to keep it tame🤭🤭)

Again we end on a cliffhanger but the new twist is great and opens up for a whole new storyline to continue into the next book.

Unfortunately the narrators of the audio book were lacking. The female sounded much too overdramatic with little change of inflection between descriptive text and vocab. It was really off putting.

This book is exactly why I read all the way to the end because I was struggling through the whole thing. Till about 70% in when the dragons came in and then the going got good, and the ending made me want to read the next one but I really had to dig to get through this one. Maybe it's just the middle book thing where it's a filler.... because I feel like ... You could read the first couple chapters skip to the last few and not miss anything. Because all they did was travel and try not to caught by his dad or miss dragon lady.

I didn't read the first book, and so there are a couple of parts that did not fully make sense. However, with not having the first book, this was a great book. I loved the relationships and the characters. I want to know what happens next as there was such a huge reveal at the end of the book. I couldn't put this book down it was just so good.

The narrator of Long Live the Elf Queen is very talented and did a great job brining all of the characters to life. I very much enjoyed the story and love how it built on the original and can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you NetGalley and House Valor Books Inc for the audiobook ARC. I absolutely loved reading Bow Before the Elf queen and was super excited to get to listen to Long Live the Elf Queen as lately I’ve been able to prioritize audiobooks more than ebooks.

I was looking forward to this story so incredibly much. And I will admit it took a little bit to get used to the narrators voices. Once I did, I really enjoyed them though. So with that, here’s my thoughts. I tried to avoid any outright spoilers but there are a few more vague ones in here so read at your own risk.

Piper definitely stole the show here. And the addition of dragon shifters was *chef’s kiss*. At first I was skeptical of them, but man they really were great. There were some really great plot twists and I loved the nod to a crew of female sailors and fighting a female villain. Hell yeah girl power! We also got to know more about a few of the Raven’s and Thane’s family which was very helpful additional context as the story moves along. The intrigue of the Black Mage had me constantly wondering and theorizing what might come next, and I was so far from correct on my theories. The last 15% of the book was basically perfect. If the entire book was as amazing as that was, this would have been 10 million stars. It took while, but it really went out with a bang.

Overall, this story was a case where the second in the series fell a bit short to how incredible the first one was. Don’t get me wrong, I still really enjoyed it and am thoroughly looking forward to the next one. But this wasn’t as big of a hit for me.

I think my biggest issue is how radically the characters seemed to change after their time apart. Thane became a constant trope of touch her and I’ll kill you, which I do love, but not on repeat. Layala became a bit weak and completely dependent on Thane to save the day. One of the things I loved about the first story is how Layala found her strength and earned her respect. I understand trauma changes things, but it was hard for me to take these characters I loved so much and spend most of the book having to wonder how they ended up here - only for then to suddenly get back to normal bad assery. Layala’s weakness wasn’t explored or explained as much as I’d have liked nor was her return to strength set up, it was a bit more suddenly she’s awesome again. Thane lacked the dimension he had in the first book.

I still adore this story and am really looking forward to the next installment, especially after that cliffhanger. And hopefully with more information it will make some of the behavior or background in this book make a bit more sense!

3.5*

The sequel to Kearl's Bow to the Elf Queen comes with a rollercoaster of a release. The beginning definitely left a lot to be desired, but around half-way through it picked up. The characters appeared to get more annoying in this installment, however, and truth be told, the best part of the book was the ending; that cliffhanger may be the sole reason I continue on reading this series. 😳

I requested this knowing thus was a series but I didn't realize until quite a bit in this is book 2 in the series. Still, it wasn't hard to figure things out. I'm definitely go back and reread the first one that I see raved about.
I liked the narration of this book. The cast really added the necessary voices of the characters to it to make it magical. This may be why I was pulled in and felt comfortable continuing the story to the end even though I hadn't read the first book.
The pacing was a bit slow but that end and twist made up for it.

The voices were a bit dramatic, but I liked the voice actors. The story flowed from one event to the next. I think I’d prefer to listen to the third book!

When I was given access to this book, I just HAD to listen to the first book before starting! I was so glad that I did - I was absolutely sucked in to this story. Tifferpine might be one of my favorite supporting characters EVER!

The voice acting was perfect. Not overly sexy, but certainly romantic. I would absolutely recommend to anyone who loves the fae romances!

Layala and Thane’s story continued, and while it did seem a little slow at times, there were great plot twists! Still sweetly romantic, not overly sexy.

It ended as a cliffhanger - I cannot wait until book 3!

Holy smokes! This was epic! I only have one issue - I’m going to need the next book ASAP! I had high hopes after the first book, “Bow Before Elf Queen” and J.M. Kearl did not disappoint!
We return to Layala and Thane‘s epic world and hit the ground running. Instantly hit with action, adventure, tension, mystery, twists & turns and a swoon worthy continuation of their love story. My heart was racing the whole book! If you are looking for an action packed romantasy The Elf Queen series is definitely for you!

Thank you to house valor for the opportunity to listen Tate and review this arc audiobook.

Ahhh to be back in this story! The narrators were delicious. The story was epic. The cliff hanger made me throw my phone because mean. I live for Ms Kearl’s stories. And it was a wild ride!

I'm honestly surprised by how much i enjoyed Long Live the Elf Queen. I went into this book not realizing it is the second book in a series. The beginning was a little rough because I didn't know the characters or how the last book ended but it was easy enough to catch on to what was happening. The world building was done really well. The plot was fast paced and engaging. Who doesn't love a fantasy adventure with love, magic, elves, and danger! The characters were all really unique and I loved getting to know them. I can't wait to go back and read the first book!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 rating
This audio book is the second installment of the Elf Queen series. It follows our main character Layala who falls in love with Thane. Now as mates they must conquer the trials and tribulations of the people wanting them apart. This is your typical fantasy where the girl is held captive until starvation and health decline until she is saved and has enough energy to fight back. The void is the dark entity that she must fight and overcome in order to save the day.
I really liked the premise of the book, however listening to all the characters and the different voices through me off and I found it cringe and hard to keep going.
This audiobook wasnt for me, however if your looking for love, violence, kingdom fights then this one is for you.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to listen to this audio book.
