I absolutely loved being back in this beautiful small town 💖 and I put off reading this so that it wouldn’t be over 🙃

Did it live up to my expectations?? Yes 👏🏻 and it exceeded them beyond measure 🥰

Darla is a fav! She is one strong woman! But she is also HUMAN just like the rest of us. And that made me love her even more 💕 also!! She’s an author 😍 my dream job!! Then there’s Nick, a beautiful human being who shows his love in every way he can, & I felt protective of him throughout 😂 The friendship group with Tony, Hadley, Kit, & Alex was just great! I loved all of their interactions & getting to know Darla & Nick through them was even better!

I didn’t want this to end, & I wish I could read their stories for the first time again! So, if you haven’t read the books in this series yet, here’s your reminder!

This was a very heartwarming, second-chance romance between two ex-spouses. I loved everything about this book from the setting, the characters themselves and the actually story. I found myself rooting for the MC's throughout the whole book and the author delivered with a very satisfying ending.

The Summer of Second Chances was highly anticipated for me after loving Darla in Seashell Harbor's first two books.

I am so here for more second chance romance books involving divorced couples. Darla and Nick's communication and growth in this book are so good, and I particularly loved getting to know Darla since she's been through so much.

Read this for:
- Second chance romance
- Home renovations
- He'll do whatever it takes to win her back
- The "tough friend" who has helped her best friends find their happily ever after
- Small town setting

Darla is an author who has been spending the last few years beating cancer and ready to start new. With the opportunity of teaching in California far from her hometown before she goes she's got a couple of things to do like finishing the novel she started, helping her best friend with the wedding, and getting her home ready to sell. Nick is her ex-husband who seemingly keeps popping up helping when needed for the few renovation jobs at she keeps me to help with and it appears that the old flame never really died and they're different people now. But she's got a timeline on the book on her teaching job and just seeing where life is going post cancer and decisions need to made soon.

I really enjoyed this book it was pretty heartwarming. Darla had so much support around her and yet she seemed to close herself from everyone when it came to the cancer and now wanting to go off to her teaching job. She had so much decision to make when it came to the book that she was so unsure of now and wanting to be there for her friends and family. Then there was the bit of trauma to deal with when it came to reliving her past trying to help other cancer patients on their way to recovery. Then there was ever present Nick who keeps popping in and out whether or not she likes it help him when needed and just being there and while it is clear that he has changed and grown up since they were last together is it enough for her to want to stay? There was just so much going on and I really enjoying reading this book.

The Summer of Second Chances is book 3 in the Seashell Harbor series by Miranda Liasson. I have not read the first two and I didn't need to, though I will be seeking them out because this was a beautiful story and so well written. The characters were honest and flawed and broken and growing and I loved them both.

Married young, Darla and Nick ended up divorced as things just didn't work out. Darla an author ended up with cancer and after recovering she returned to Seashell Harbor. Darla has closed herself off from any relationships. Darla end up having Nick assist her with some home updates and while doing so he hopes to prove his love to Darla as he never stopped loving her.

A sweet second chance romance that pulls on your heart strings. In this third visit to Seashell Harbor we get to know writer Darla Manning who has returned to town after a lengthy absence and her ex-husband Nick Cammareri who has grown up a lot while she was gone. She thought their relationship was long done and she has moved on with her career and life. Nick is far from over his first love and Darla slowly starts to realize she has never truly let him go.
This is a wonderful book addition to a fabulous series. Tying all the other characters that we have met un the previous books perfectly. It is written so that you can also easily read it as a stand alone book.
I enjoyed this book very much. It is a great escape that I could envision as a sweet Hallmark movie. The characters a well written and were a pleasure to get to know. I was rooting for Darla and Nick to find their happily ever after from the moment Darla returned to town.
I am extremely grateful to Forever and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this heartwarming book in exchange for an honest review.

The Summer of Second Chances is book 3 in the Seashell Harbor series by Miranda Liasson, second Chance romance. 4.5 stars

Married young, love changed with maturity, cancer scare, Darla and Nick divorced. Darla has closed herself off from any relationships thinking no one should be burdened with her possible return of cancer. Coming back to Seashell Harbor to sell and move on…Nick has other ideas…he never stopped loving Darla and is determined to prove they truly belong together, no matter what the future holds for her..

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Favorite Quotes:

What ifs were as plentiful as dandelion seeds. It was best to blow them away to the wind and be done with them for good.

If only she could squish Nick Cammareri firmly in the friend box and shut the lid. Trouble was, he kept spilling out.

And let me tell you something, life isn’t something that you figure out once and you’re done. Like it or not, we have to keep on figuring things out.

My Review:

This was a lovely and engaging story to unwind with at the end of the day. The characters were realistically flawed yet endearing and witty. I can always count on Miranda Liasson for an enjoyable, well-paced, and perceptively written read.

Darla has beaten cancer and has decided to start fresh in California, but first she needs to sell her house in her hometown of Seashell Harbor. She returns home and is surprised to finds her ex-husband, Nick, in her house. He was supposed to do a few minor fixes in her house but instead it looks like he has moved in and is in the midst of renovations. Darla and Nick divorced because of they had issues communicating, but Nick wants Darla to see that he's changed. This was an enjoyable book. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Thank you net galley and the publisher for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a sweet book that follows Darla after her cancer journey. Darla has returned to Seashell Harbor to help one of her friends get ready for her wedding. When she returns into town she also runs into her x husband Nick and we will follow their journey as she is back in town. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie but in a good way! This is the third book in a series but it can be read as a standalone.

Miranda Liasson can be counted on for writing a story that tugs at your heartstrings and embraces women's friendships. This third trip to Seashell Harbor includes those elements and some poignant moments as Darla Manning, a cancer survivor, navigates the waters of life in remission. She returns home to Seashell Harbor to friends and family who have seen her through her darkest hours. Also there, her ex-husband Nick Cammareri. The two had married and divorced young when their ambitions diverged. Despite their time apart, a connection remains. If they can see each other as the people they've grown into and open their vulnerable hearts, that connection can be strengthened and lead to their happily ever after. This book can be read as a stand alone but is most fun when characters from the previous book in the series appear.

Sometimes, couples who marry young go the distance. Other times, life's challenges send them in opposite directions. But occasionally, if they're lucky, they get a second chance with the one who never left their heart.

I've been waiting for this final chapter of Miranda Liasson's Seashell Harbor series since first meeting Nick and Darla in book one and it did not disappoint. I love when a couple gets a second chance to make better decisions. It's been ten years since Nick and Darla divorced. They've each moved on but as hard as they try the love that first flickered in grade school and matured in high school still simmers. They can't - really, they shouldn't - go back but Liasson gives them the chance to move forward, to create something new, something better.

Both Nick and Darla have significant emotional baggage to conquer before they can claim their second chance. The author guides them carefully through a series of emotional obstacles in their journey of growth. Nick, in particular, has evolved a great deal over the past decade. I enjoyed watching the "new and improved" man show through his actions - rather than words - how much he's matured. Darla, on the other hand, still has work to do. Her journey is one of fear, vulnerability, forgiveness, and acceptance. I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to move forward in life knowing the cancer you defeated has the ability to return at any time. There are many layers within Darla (broken family, trust issues, obsessive independence, fear) that are addressed with realistic and relatable compassion that drew me into her journey, cheering her on and feeling every emotion right alongside her.

Friendship is once again a key facet of this third Seashell Harbor book with both couples from books one and two front and center, lending support, offering unsolicited - but wise - advice, and showing, again, the importance of solid and unwavering friendship/family. While emotional topics are central to this book, rest assured you will find plenty of humor, endearing characters, poignant moments, hope, happiness, and romantic chemistry to keep it from becoming too heavy. Darla's young nieces and nephew, in particular, had me laughing out loud more than once. And, the sigh-worthy happy ending is a fitting farewell to a group of friends who captured my heart. You could enjoy The Summer of Second Chances as a standalone but I believe you'll have a much better understanding of the characters and deeper appreciation for their journeys if you read the three books in order.

Darla Manning is tough. She survived cancer, a divorce, and is now living back home in Seashell Harbor and writing her next book. At least she has her best friends here and her support system. Living as a cancer survivor isn't easy. All the follow-up tests and worries take their toll. When her ex, Nick Cammereri, re-enters her life (how could he not, he lives in Seashell Harbor) they start to spend time together. Their paths are bound to cross when they are helping to plan their best friends' wedding. How can Darla tell everyone the truth though? She accepted a very exciting teaching position in California for the fall. She needs to finish up her book, sell her house, and say goodbye to everyone she loves. All this time with Nick has her second-guessing things though as he has clearly changed. The Summer of Second Chances by Miranda Liasson has everything fans of the series enjoy: the small-town vibes, a second chance romance, great friendships, and more.

Darla is a character that I always enjoyed as she is a survivor, an author, and has handled difficult moments in her life with grace. Her relationship with her ex was always a curious topic in the other novels, so I was glad to see it fleshed out in The Summer of Second Chances. What I didn't love about this book was the focus on cancer. While I don't mind it playing a small role, it seemed to be bringing the story down in this novel and made it a little heavier than I liked for a beach read. Other than that, I enjoy the town of Seashell Harbor and the stories of second-chance romances and female friendships. If a beach read and a Hallmark movie had a baby, it would be this series.

The Summer of Second Chances follows exes Darla and Nick when Darla returns to town. The coupe divorced years earlier and Darla was treated for cancer.

The third book in the Seashell Harbor series by Miranda Liasson follows the couple as they deal with house renovations, book deadlines, wedding planning for a friend, Darla’s health, and the fact that they haven’t really ever let go of their love for each other.

While this is the third book in a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone without reading the previous books. This is a fun beachy take on second chance love. Perfect for fans of Sweet Magnolias and Virgin River.
