"Her Dark Enchantments" offers a fresh and captivating perspective on the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty, delving into the origins and motivations of the infamous villain. In this imaginative retelling, author Rosalyn Briar introduces readers to Myravelle Spinner, a young woman who grew up isolated in a tower, surrounded only by spiders and stone walls. As she grapples with her mother's refusal to teach her fairy magic, Myravelle's journey takes a dark turn when she becomes the healer for the king's Sleepy Wood Company, tasked with waking soldiers from a cursed slumber.

Haunted by her past and burdened by the weight of her powers, Myravelle finds herself bound to Byzarien Dumont, a man filled with bitterness and resentment towards fairies. Their tumultuous relationship is further complicated by threats to their families and the kingdom, forcing them to confront their deepest fears and learn to trust each other.

With its richly imagined world and complex characters, "Her Dark Enchantments" explores themes of love, redemption, and the consequences of dark magic. Myravelle's struggle to reconcile her past with her present, and Byzarien's journey towards forgiveness and understanding, provide a compelling backdrop to the story's gripping plot twists and turns.

As the lines between hero and villain blur, readers are drawn into a spellbinding tale of courage, sacrifice, and the power of redemption. [Author's Name] masterfully weaves together elements of fantasy, romance, and adventure to create a captivating narrative that will enchant readers from beginning to end. Fans of fairy tale retellings and dark fantasy will find much to love in this evocative and thought-provoking novel.

I love retellings, especially when it’s telling the story of the villain, but it was so slow and I felt like it was trying too hard to be something it wasn’t. Also, the characters didn’t interest me and they felt one dimensional, so I didn’t care about what happened to them. Sadly, I really wanted to like this one but unfortunately it wasn’t for me.

This books was a fun Sleeping Beauty retelling, and I'm an absolute sucker for a not-your-usual happy ending.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read the book in exchange for an honest review. I think overall the book was okay. Some parts felt repetitive and the pacing a bit slow until the 2nd half of the book where everything was trying to get jammed in. I wish the author tried to even the pacing out as to not to feel too rushed towards the end. Overall, it was okay.

I’m so sorry, but I hated this book. It was badly written, dull, and had a lot of plot holes. In addition to the issues of the execution, there were problems with the pacing. The characters also lacked depth. They didn’t feel real to me, and it was hard to get immersed in this book.

This was a brilliantly formed, seductive fairytale retelling that I wasn’t sure what to expect from but I’m so glad I requested this and got to read it! The world building was good, the narration was spot on and the premise was very enjoyable. I liked the characters with plenty of goodies and baddies to choose from and how it all came together throughout. Ideal for anyone who loves fairytales and retelling that are a little sultry and imaginative but fun and enjoyable nonetheless!

“Once upon a time,” she whispered, “there was a girl of stars and a boy of scars. They burned one another in ways only true love can.”

This is one of the best retellings I have ever read and I truly thank the author for this arc!

These characters were so well developed and intricate that I was drawn in from the get go.

I could not stop reading this book after I started and I would recommend this to everyone.

Y'all, I will EAT UP any fairy tell retelling out there including this one. I went into this fully expecting it to be Sleeping Beauty retelling but you will definitely feel some elements of other fairytales thrown in as well.

I had two main problems with this book and those were pacing and character development. I kind of felt like I was getting whiplash at some points in the book when the story would be moving really slow and then all the sudden it was full speed ahead for what felt like 10 pages before calming back down. I am also 100% a character girly, less so a plot girly, which unfortunately is where this book was lacking for me. I think that the characters needed more development and/or depth. There were still moments where I felt connected to the characters or like I was seeing through their eyes, but not as much as I would like.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and leave this review! <3

Thank you net galley for providing me with an arc of He'd dark enchantments in exchange for a honest review.

I really enjoyed the world build on this one. The tale sets the perfect dark aesthetic atmosphere perferct if you're looking for a more dark taste of the classic Disney tale. The characters were a very interesting cast to read about, however the world is what sold me to the book. The details about the economy, politics and the environment around the characters transported me straight into the book.

The story of how sleeping beauty became sleeping beauty. Where did the spindle come from? The curse? How the prince could kiss her to wake her?

I really struggled with this one. I could not get into it for the life of me. The pacing was not great, But I think the character names were the worst of all for me. What kind of name is Byzarien? That’s a me problem however. Had high hopes but was let down with this one. 2.5 stars

Sleeping Beauty retellings are my absolute favorite. Maleficent is also my favorite so I thought I would jump right into this. I loved the idea, but the multiple fairy tales and pacing didn't work for me, even though I really wanted it to.

I love a Gothic fairy take retelling and this was no different. This was amazing. It is a bit of a slow burn (which is fine) so it did take me a few chapters to get completely sucked in; but once I was, I was hooked. Couldn't put it down. Was highly entertaining throughout. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Gothic fairy tale retellings.
And can I say the cover of this book is to die for!
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.

I got an advanced reader copy of this book from Netgalley. I absolutely loved this dark gothic retelling of sleeping beauty. the writer has done a fantastic job that had me hooked from the beginning. The main characters in this enemies to lovers are Myravelle who is a healer and uses ritual powers to heal the kings soldiers in his campaign somewhat based on Malificent, and Byzarien an embittered solider who hates Myravelle's kind. The book leads you down a darkened and somewhat heart wrenching path.

This is an excellent dark gothic retelling of a fairy tale. Even though it didn’t capture me until a few chapters in it was filled with atmosphere and incredible detail. I was thoroughly entertained. It was a bit of a slow burn for me as the pacing wasn’t what I expected, but I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves gothic books and retellings of fairy tales.

Absolutely love the book cover!

Rounding up to 4 stars. Started off pretty slow for me and a bit confusing to follow. As the story went on it grabbed my attention more and I finished the book in a few hours. I loved the authors take on the backstory to this well known fairy tail. I am looking forward to see what else she writes.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

One of the best re-tellings that I have read this year. It was such a compelling story line that kept me hooked from the start until the very end. The atmosphere was dark and gothic and I soaked it up.I loved it
