I don’t always reach for a graphic novel, but when I do it’s usually DC. Overall the style and mood was great, the story was good and I would be interested in seeing where the storyline goes in subsequent volumes

I haven't read a ton of the "One Bad Day" entries so I cannot speak to this being a stronger or weaker entry, but on its own it was a good, fast read. I love Selina Kyle as a character and I liked this standalone focus on her. I liked the focus on her character and her past - I love a character study, and I really enjoyed the art in this volume.

A solid Catwoman solo story in this 'One Bad Day' spin-off series that left me wanting just a bit more.

I would read anything GWW writes. Im not the biggest catwoman fan but i really love what GWW did with the character. Hopingvthis becomes a series.

I love a good Catwoman story, and this is definitely a good Catwoman story. It's not often you find a "true neutral" character, and Catwoman borders on chaotic, but it's fascinating when written well.

I wish I could give this a three point five (hey Goodreads update your system). This comic was lighthearted and charming. I'm glad that Batman was only a side character in this story becuase it Catwoman to be in the limelight without him trying to still the light. When he was there he was surprisingly funny. Overall I felt that the story could've even more and when I was done I was unsatisfied. I would recommend this to Catwoman fans that are still getting into comics.

“At a certain point, you realize that nobody’s going to give you what history stole from you. Sometimes, you have to just steal it back.”

Well damn, that’s one way to start a comic. Considering this is a Catwoman comic, I realize the “steal” part is a little more realistic, but this is a good quote.

And before I even move on with the story, that art style??? Holy crap it is beautiful and Selena Kyle is fiiiiine. And the fight scenes? The way the progression of an entire fight was represented on a single page spread with different levels of opacity was beautifully done. I was honestly shocked when I first saw that.

I was pleasantly surprised with the writing for this graphic novel. There were modern tie-ins and important topics I was not expecting. People in the streets protesting their unfair wage-to-rent ratio in an eat the rich fashion. Cops complaining about commonfolk, “They’d rather beg for handouts than earn an honest living.” Mmmmm, side eye.

The plot was intriguing and emotional. Selena’s mother tried to sell a valuable brooch at a pawn shop when they needed money, only to be told it was a fake and worth $200. Years later, Selena is fully established as Catwoman and sees the very brooch advertised at an elite auction, valued at a minimum of $20,000. So Catwoman does Catwoman things and steals it. I loved this line:

“Why do I steal? Because what things cost has nothing to do with what they’re worth. To my mother, the brooch in my pocket was worth two hundred dollars because that’s how much we needed to make rent. To the filthy-rich collectors queuing up for this auction, it’s worth a minimum reserve of twenty thousand dollars because someone wrote about it in a book…In a just world, this brooch would be mine anyway. In a just world, my mother would never have been forced to sell something so precious just to keep a roof over our heads. But it isn’t a just world.”

That was a long quote but encompassed the vibe of the entire novel well.

Then some spoiler-y things happen that leads to fighting, and the arrival of Batman. His entrance took up most of the page and, once again, I was shook by the art. He was drawn so well, I had to just take a second to admire his page.

I don’t want to spoil the rest of the graphic novel, but it was definitely an entertaining read. Although, one issue I have, on the last page, Selena is still in her costume but just takes off her hood, and walks down a crowded street during the day. Her hood is attached to her bodysuit and would seem very obvious to pedestrians. I am confused about this, but it ends and doesn’t seem important so, whatever I guess?

I had a tough time putting this graphic novel down. It starts showing readers a memory from Selina’s past when her mom had to sell what she thought was a priceless family heirloom. Sadly, her mother doesn’t get anywhere near what she thought it was worth. Many years later, this item shows up in an auction for a huge amount of money. This causes Selina to plan a heist, and the whole thing ends up not going the way she hoped it would. As this graphic novel comes to a close, she gets a stern warning from a powerful adversary.

Selina tracks down a piece of jewelry that her mother owned. It was pawned for not much money but is now at auction for quite a bit more. She intends to steal it and help her sister out when she is confronted by a stranger. That stranger is more than she seems and is someone that Batman has been tracking as well. Catwoman can handle herself, but may be out of her league on this one.

It’s a pretty good story, but a bit short and ends a bit abruptly (since it’s part of a larger series of stories). The art is pretty great also.

It was fine. It didn't really stand alone and it's the only one I've read in this series. I'm not sure what I was expecting.

A Cute Expose.

I have been a fan of Batman comics for a great many years, and truly adore Selina Kyle's pivotal role in the universe, so it's fun to see her running her own capers. This time, it's personal. Family matters.

However, the stakes remained low in the beginning and the monologuing barely held my interest.
This piece of jewelry is important for that reason and therefore Catwoman must go through great lengths to attain it. Even the backstory was minute- though still fascinating. I wish they would have expanded more on the dynamics.

As a one-off caper, One Bad Day was perfectly entertaining even if it didn't add any weight to the larger canon. (Unless there's a larger tie-in to the One Bad Day series that I am unaware of.

Sadly, the most interesting part of Catwoman's story continues to be Batman and her relationship to him. While I adore how the dynamic was portrayed, it did steal some of Selina's thunder.

Overall, a great read for the Catwoman or BatCat coneiussuer, but not a title I plan on adding to my library and revisiting.

This one didn't quite work for me. I love Catwoman and seeing her with the Bats is just muy caliente, but I'm not a fan of this one, as she is kind of an idiot?

Like, I get it, she has this vengeance thing going on, but Batman gave her some REALLY GOOD advice and she just PFFT'd all over it, got her butt handed to her AND ruined his investigation.

So. Not exactly happy with how she was portrayed in this one. As another reviewer said, she was made to be TOO human, and I didn't appreciate it. I like my heroes/anti-heroes to be more intelligent than I am. And honestly, if the Bats told me something, I would at least LISTEN and CONSIDER what he has to say.

I would have been PISSED with her if I was the Bats and she ruined my months long investigation on this person. But I guess he thought it was par for the course with her?

Recommended if you like your comic book heroes/anti-heroes to be more human than super.

Centering around the enigmatic and highly capable thief with a fondness for felines, Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, she finds herself in a bind when a score hits too close to home. When an item from her past is being auctioned off to Gotham's elite, Selina finds her judgment clouded and in pursuit of a new foe...

So right off the bat (no pun intended), this had a weak start that really tried to make itself edgy and of the modern zeitgeist which makes a reader cringe. One Bad Day: Catwoman was hands-down the weakest writing I read of G. Willow Wilson's, which is a shame because I had fairly high expectations going into this solely based on the creative team behind this comic.

But while I understand the limitations of a one-shot, the plot was a wholly surface-level premise that was (barely) saved by fantastic artwork. It was a cookie-cutter story that failed to provide any complexity or well-paced conflict within the plot or narrative. The pacing was questionable and the inclusion of Batman felt forced and ill-placed, almost a distraction from the plot that failed to distract the reader from the narrative issues.

This was a fun 1st issue comic. I included enough backstory to keep me interested in Selina, while also being a new take on a classic character. I haven't read a comic in few months but I will be keeping up with this series.

I'm a huge Catwoman fan, so I was thrilled to see this comic book on NetGalley! She’s one of my favorites since she’s bada$$ and doesn’t give a beep! Even though I’m not big into comics, I loved reading the first installment of BATMAN - ONE BAD DAY CATWOMAN. Her look was spot on, and I enjoyed the entertaining scenes where her sass shined.

Set in Selina Kyle's world (Catwoman), as opposed to Batman's, this graphic novel tells the story of Selina's pursuit of a personal family relic. She goes to great lengths to steal it back. We see the provenance of it, how it came to be up for auction, and how Catwoman goes about stealing it back.

This is a short 64 page story that is very well written. I don't know all the is and outs of the Batman universe but I was able to jump right in and was up to speed very quickly with this book. The artwork was also really great here. I loved all of the expressions in the drawings especially in Catwoman's panels. I knew clearly who was speaking and the lettering was easy to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book throughout.

Batman: One Bad Day: Catwoman by G. Willow Wilson was a really fun Catwoman story! This is a very interesting and brief story!

This was a fun quick read! Loved every second of it! Love Catwoman this was done so well. Loved this art was beautifully done. As some who reads comic casually I loved how I didn’t need to know too much to pick up and understand and there’s not a list of books to read before this one. Would love to read more like this. Would definitely recommend to friends

Selina Kyle as Catwoman is the greatest thief in Gotham City. She's stolen and fenced plenty of things, evading the GCPD and Batman. An item from her past is being sold for way more than it used to be worth, and now she must steal it back. Batman tries to stop her before she goes too far, and a mysterious figure known as the Forger will change Catwoman’s life forever.

G. Willow Wilson had written for the Poison Ivy and Ms. Marvel comics, and Jamie McElvie had inked many other comics including The Wicked and The Divine. (Go read all those!) The art is lovely and compliments the story very well. Selina's drawn so well, and I love her smirks and the movement in the panels of the comic. The item for sale was a brooch her mother had been forced to pawn, and the pawnbroker had lied about its worth. This is a quick story and one that makes you wonder more about the relationships in it. Batman and Catwoman are kind of together and don't stop each other from doing what they do best. The Forger isn't the weakling that Selina thought, and far more mysterious. But the interaction made Selina ponder the past, which wasn't what she normally does. This is a fun comic and a lead-in for more.

Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1 is a simple story on the surface with more than it seems going on just below. Brought to life by the stellar writing of G. Willow Wilson and the always on point artwork of Jamie McKelvie, we find Selina Kyle in over her head in more ways than one as an object from her past threatens to let her emotions get the best of her. The story is very well paced given it's 64 page length and Wilson has Kyle's voice down pat which along with McKelvie's refreshingly sleek and bright rendering of Batman, offers an enjoyable book for any fan to enjoy. This simple story about a heavy topic like the societal placement of value on goods and people left me looking for the right hand while watching the left, only to realize that they were both in front of me the entire time. This book proves that not every heist has to be an "Ocean" and not every bad day has to be our worst.
