Emma lost her husband, David, tragically two years ago. Now, she is raising their daughter, Claire, on her own. Claire and Emma have been looking forward to the annual field trip to the pumpkin patch. As one of the kindergarten teachers, Emma hopes she'll be able to spend some one on one time with Claire. However, when one of the students ends up missing, Emma has to leave Claire with another teacher while she helps search for the missing child. When she returns, relieved to have found the student, Claire, is nowhere to be found.
This was a good, fast-paced read, and I enjoyed it. My one complaint would be that there were just too many coincidences. It was obvious that the author was trying to throw us off. I had an idea of what had occurred, but I definitely did not guess the main twist. Overall I found the story entertaining and it definitely kept my interest. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When you are responsible for a group of people you have to make sure they are watched each and every minute. Sometimes it's easier said than done when you are talking about a group of kindergartners. They are small and as quick as mercury. They can wander off easily and hide in the smallest places. Sometimes one minute is all it takes and when you do a head count and one little person seems to be missing, your blood turns to ice. Action is needed immediately.

Is this the start of one of the worst nightmares or is it the beginning of something far more sinister...?

I loved Emma. She is fierce and she won't let the police dictate her. She is entitled to give her own opinions even though the police does not always follow her tips.

It's in times of a crisis you realise who you can really count on. You thought you knew someone, but it seems like they knew how to hide behind a mask. Sometimes you shut people out, because they are to close to a tragedy you went through and you rather keep your distance because of the pain. You forget they are suffering too and that letting them would be far more healing than hiding on your little island.

You need to be a mentally strong person to deal with grief. Get over it is easier said than done and some people start mixing their dreams or what they think they are entitled too with reality and that's when they become dangerous...

I loved this story. I could see the point of view from every person and I realise once again you can try to help others, but they have to be ready to help themselves first. 5 stars

Thank you

Emma always looks forward to the annual kindergarten field trip to the local pumpkin patch, and this year is extra special because her daughter Claire is amongst her students. The teachers are frantic when a child gets lost, only to be discovered in the center of the corn maze. But before the relief of finding her can set in, Emma realizes that another child has gone missing – her daughter Claire.

The School Trip is suspenseful and compulsively readable. There is no shortage of suspects or secrets in this twisty missing-child thriller. Short chapters make this a quick, entertaining read that kept me flipping the pages way past bedtime!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.

LOVED this book! Miranda Smith is one of my favorite thriller authors, so i was thrilled to get this copy. Claire goes missing on a school trip to the pumpkin patch. She disappears while her mother is helping to locate another missing child. I will admit I was suspicious of quite a few of her "friends" but I was not suspicious on who the kidnapper actually was. Great suspense. Great twists. I powered through this book. Loved it!

“The School Trip” is a thriller by Miranda Smith. I really liked the story - and maybe being a parent helped emphasize the fear factor. I found that a number of the twists were really good - and this book did keep me engaged as I wondered how it was going to end (and who did the kidnapping and why). This was a really quick read - and an enjoyable one at that. And I’m glad my days of field trips to pumpkin farms are behind me!

My Review:
Loved!!!!! What wasn’t there to love about this one is the real question. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Each chapter left me wanting more and more. I knew I wouldn’t get much done or fall asleep until I finished it. I want to start off by saying that once I saw this author was coming out with a new book I just knew I had to read it. I was so excited that I even jumped up and down for joy especially once I got my hands on it. This author is one of my favorites and I have read almost all her books. I only have one more left to go. Every single book of hers have been so good. In fact, I can’t get enough of this author and her writing. This one was no exception. The plot of this book was perfect for me. I love any books that deal with children especially the missing ones. Who would want to take an innocent child is always my first question. I love finding out who would do such a horrible act and why they would do it in the first place. Motive is so important to me. Now let’s talk characters. Everyone had something to hide. I loved finding out all the characters secrets. Some were huge while others were small but all of them were very important to the story. There was not one character that lacked in this book in my opinion. Each of them had a specific purpose to the plot and each made the plot rock. Next up is my favorite part in every book, the ending. That ending was shocking and took me by surprise in so many ways. It left me speechless and I can’t say that about many books. There were so many twists and turns in this one. I never knew what to expect next. I raced through that ending like there was no tomorrow. I just had to find out how it was all going to end. Miranda Smith really outdid herself with this book. It proved why she is one of my all time favorite writers. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is going to be really hard to write a review. I loved the story. I loved the twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. But………it’s not plausible for Jack to have gotten a job at a school even with forged documents. They fingerprint now and he would have needed references that went back further than two years. Maybe it only bothered me bc I am a teacher? If it let that piece go, it was definitely a five star book.

I liked this one. Despite the premise being my worst nightmare- not only a missing child but specifically a student going missing while in my charge, as a teacher, on a school excursion, I couldn’t read the pages fast enough. The short, intense chapters make The School Trip a quick, ‘don’t want to put down’ read that twists more than a few times before you get to the end.
Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture, and Miranda Smith for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC.

I love a good thriller. Something to get the mind working, heart racing and having you on the edge of your seat. Great writing, great characters and a great storyline. Time to clear your schedule for the afternoon, coffee pot on and phone turned off - you won’t want to put this one down. This was a compelling and thoroughly enjoyable read and every mothers worst nightmare a missing child!

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and author. I enjoyed this book. I like this author. Claire is missing, and her mother must find her before it is too late. This realistic story moves quickly, and it would make a great television movie. The characters come to life on the pages. I was so engrossed in discovering who took Claire, that time got away from me. This is a cannot put down novel written by a talented author. Enjoy this book.

The School Trip by Miranda Smith pulled me in from the very start and kept me breathless. If you have ever been responsible for the safety of a young child, this one will resonate and leave you with chills.

Emma, a teacher, is chaperoning a field trip to a local pumpkin patch when her own daughter, Claire, goes missing. Still grieving the loss of her husband, Emma cannot imagine losing her precious daughter as well. As the search intensifies, Emma begins to wonder if her child has been targeted and, if so, is she a means to an unimaginable end?

I have previously enjoyed Ms Smith's novels and this latest is no exception. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Initially I struggled with all the different names littered through the first portion of the book, I soon got to grips with it and enjoyed it immensely! Having your child go missing is everyone’s worst nightmare! A great read.
