I’d like to thank HQ and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Girl Who Vanished’ by R M Ward in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Frances receives a phone call saying that her daughter Naomi has had an accident and is in hospital. Driving along the motorway on her way to the hospital she makes eye contact with a child in a black 4x4 who mouths the word ‘help me’. As Frances continues to the hospital she regrets not being able to follow the car and help the child.

‘The Girl Who Vanished’ is a well-written psychological thriller with the fascinating concept of a woman whose family believe she’s losing her mind. From page one there are surprises all the way with so much intrigue, suspense and twists and turns that I was kept on the edge of my seat unable to stop reading. When I reached the last pages the conclusion was very interesting and not at all what I was expecting. This is a book that’s easy to read and a pleasure to get involved in.

This was breathtaking. Going mad in your late 40s is a terrifying idea. A child in the hospital is terrifying. Children being kidnapped is also terrifying.
I loved the ending.

This is a well written, edge of the seat, dramatic read. The chapters are written from various character perspectives and this makes it an easy page turner.

There’s mental anguish, family drama and a girl, who may have been kidnapped, or, it was imagined. It’s a perfect holiday read and only misses the full 5* due to an element of predictability. However, there’s an unforeseen ending that makes up for it.

I’m grateful to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to preview.

An unputdownable thriller. A narrator with PTSD, a gripping plot and a sense of urgency in the writing make this a gripping read. It's hard to work out what is really happening in Frances's life and what is an alternative scenario. Leave yourself time to read this great book in one go.

Another 5 star read! Well written, I couldn't put this book down. This was my first time reading Ward but I'm a fan now. The suspense and mystery had me glued to the pages and I couldn't put this one down.

Frances Brookman has just received the phone call that every mither dreads. Her daughter Naomi has been in a life=threatening accident. As she races to the hospital, Frances catches sight of another child in another car = a girl screaming for help. It's a slip-second thing, looks can be deceptive. She could follow the car, but can she live with the delay getting to her daughter? If she does nothing, can she live with herself?

With twists, suspense and mystery, this slightly predictive story was right up my street. Frances thinks she is losing her mind, dementia runs in the family. She's convinced she was witness to a kidnapping. She was on her way to hospital to see her daughter when she sees a little girl in the back of a car mouthing "help me." Frances is confused, strange events keep occurring. This story is more about Frances than it is about a girl who vanished or her daughter who is in hospital. With Frances being an unreliable narrator, it keeps you guessing throughout the book. This is a quick and easy book to read.

I would like to thank #Netgalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #RMWard for my ARC of #ThegirlWhoVanished in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. Plenty in the storyline to keep you entertained. The downside for me was that I guessed all of the twists bar one and that the ending seemed rushed. Would definitely read the next offering. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Thriller is exactly the right description for this book. With a generally unreliable main character, struggling with PTSD and worried she is following her mothers footsteps into early onset dementia, Frances finds herself reliving an accident her daughter survived from years ago.
She also becomes embroiled in another case when she sees a child pleading for help from the back of a car.
I could not put this book down until every one of my hunches and suspicions had been addressed and proven- one way or another!

Thank you R.M. Ward, Harper Publishers and Netgalley for my ARC. I really enjoyed this book. i liked the twist that was in it. The book kept me guessing. I would recommend reading this book. I just wished they didn't end it how it did. It felt like it was missing a chapter. Overall I really enjoyed the book and will read R.M. Wards other books.

I could not put this one down and raced through it in a day. I love me an unreliable narrator, and Frances is certainly that. She seems to be crazy on top of paranoid wrapped with a bit of hysteria - and I'm there for it all. Strap on your seatbelts, kids...this is going to be a deliciously devious ride.

I found The Girl Who Vanished hard to put down. Gripping, pacy and just when you think you’ve worked out which direction the plot is going, the author throws in a twist to keep you guessing. Highly recommended. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.

First I would like to thank NetGalley and HQ Digital for an ARC copy of this novel in return for an honest review.

This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed the read. It took me a while to finish, life just kept getting in the way, but I can now finally share my thoughts regarding this novel.

Frances receives a call from the hospital, letting her know her daughter Naomi has been in an accident. On her way to the hospital, she catches a glimpse of a child in a vehicle next to her. The child seems to be distressed and is mouthing the word "Help", now Frances has a choice to make, does she keep driving to the hospital for her daughter or does she try to help the child...?

I was truly intrigued by the concept of this novel and the author had my attention from the very first page. I wasn't blown away by the writing, but the plot and characters kept me invested, and turning the pages. I truly enjoyed Frances' POV and could really sympathize with her character.

I found this to be a quick and easy read, the pace was done really well. Some part of the mystery was predictable, but in the end it was a very good read.

I would definitely read more from this author in the future.

to begin with, this have been a good read. The story has kept me engrossed. The plot has been very interesting. The way the story unveils, the development on the characters was so thrilling.
Throughout the story, the author has kept us guessing about what might have happened, but the ending is completely unbelievable, unexpected. The characterisation and the struggles of the lead has been portrayed well. The interrelations aspects between the characters has been described well. The mental toll, the confusion, the feeling of losing reality, the sense of fear, the feeling of impending doom, to say almost all the feelings of the lead and also of those surrounding her have been well portrayed.
Looking forward to more books by the author.

The book started off really well with Frances receiving a phone call that her daughter had been in an accident. As she races to the hospital, she passes a car with a terrified child in the rear seat screaming for help. The pace is good but slows down as we read from the perspective of Frances. I just failed to empathise with any of the characters and the ending was just a bit too quick. Overall, a good mystery/psychological thriller. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Thank you Netgalley and HQ Digital for the eCopy to review

I enjoyed The Girl Who Vanished, it was full of twists and turns that I did not see coming. You really empathise with Frances who seems to be suffering from early onset dementia and her daughter Naomi who the burden of care falls upon.

It starts with every mother's worst nightmare a phone call to say your daughter has been in an accident and to come to the hospital quickly. On her way to there she sees a girl in a car who seems to be asking for help. Frances is convinced she was kidnapped and decides to investigate.

What follows is a masterpiece in trying to work out what is true, what are memories, and what is false. It had me gripped and the sense of fear is palpable. Ultimately, Frances learns to rely upon herself and to face the demons of her past

Copy kindly received via NetGalley for an honest review.

It was terrible what Frances and Naomi went through because of some people being rejected and the jealousy of others. The ending was interesting.

It all starts with the accident, and a phone call.

Frances gets a call she'd never hoped to repeat. Her daughter's been in another accident, and in a panic she rushes to London to get to her. Along the way, she sees what might be a possible abduction; a young girl acting strangely in the car beside her, asking for help.

When she reaches the nearest service station, she gets a call from Naomi, her daughter, who isn't in the hospital at all. At least, not again. Her accident was 6 years ago. But Frances swears the phone call was so real.

This isn't the first time Frances has called her family in a panic, thinking there's been another accident. It is, however, the first time she actually got in her car and started driving. Her family's fed up of her panicking, until they start to think it might be signs of something more serious going on. After all, Frances' own mother has been suffering from dementia for years.

Like with the false alarm of the accident, her family is quick to dismiss the so called abduction sighting. As are the police. But Frances can't get rid of the guilt she feels, that she should have done more to help the girl. If nobody else is going to look into the matter, she'll do everything she can to get to the bottom of it.

An unreliable narrator, with alternating points of view to "The GIrl" and Naomi, once the story gets going it's hard to stop reading.

Thank you to the publishers through Netgalley for the ARC.
