Thank you to #Netgalley for the arc. I enjoyed the illustrations but the story fell flat to me. I can't see myself reading this to my class. I do appreciate the opportunity and I will try other books by this author, but I didn't care for this one.

Me: sees book cover, reads title, decides itโ€™s adorable, and gives in to the Netgalley compulsion of placing my book order - BUT, here we go, I present to you:

๐ŸŒฑTHE EXCELLENT
~ ๐Ÿ‘ stellar beginning ๐Ÿคฃ
~ If your parents never taught you to - glide mysteriously past the fireplace in the great hall with axes stuck in your head - were you even parented right?!?!
~ Unexpected learning opportunities
~ Teaching us that we can all learn from each other (old and young)
~ Lovely art!
~ Satisfying story

The Little Ghost is really not doing well at scaring the Lord, Lady, & staff at the castle, while her parents create immovable fright, she brings too many smiles & too much joy to their hearts. Clearly, she must take lessons from scarier and weirder ghosts! As her parents send her off to learn from her โ€˜uncleโ€™, the Little Ghost will see the abilities of this super scary ghost & decide for herself what impression she wants to leave on others.

๐Ÿฆ–Maybe I was just ready to be charmed, but I loved this story. I love the loving instruction & protectiveness of the parents, the sweetness of both couples, the vulnerability of the โ€˜uncleโ€™ & the uniqueness of the art. This is a book I would love to have on my shelf.

I loved the pictures in this book. It was beautifully illustrated. It had a cute message too. I appreciated the fact that the little ghost didnโ€™t have to change who she was and was able to use her personality to entertain and not scare.

This was a cute little story. My toddler was very interested in it - sheโ€™s been into ghosts since being one for Halloween! The story was not scary at all, but a few of the illustrations were a little creepy for kids. Otherwise we enjoyed it and she will want to read it again for sure!

This childrenโ€™s book starts with a ghost family who is trying to teach their child how to be scary like them. Throughout the book different tactics are tried and failed until she is sent elsewhere to do more learning. Overall, itโ€™s a very cute book for children. I like how the ending helps freshen up the book for any children that may be a little more easily spooked. There is a lesson to be learned while also following a storyline. The kiddos will love it.

If you're looking for a ghost story for your littles that is not scary but actually adorable this is it! The artwork is also very gentle and the characters do not look too spooky.. Little Ghost is being taught by her parents how to be scary and how to haunt but is having a hard time being anything but cute. Her parents then send her to the scariest ghost for scaring lessons! This is a sweet little story, perfect for Halloween without being too spooky or scary!

One. I love ghost stories. Two. I love the creative challenge that storytellers undertake when they set out to write ghost stories for kids.

The Little Scottish Ghost started on a light note as we find that the ghost parents are getting old and passing the baton to their kid. It's a premise we have probably wondered about a lot - who teaches the ghosts to haunt? Does the skill show up with the ghost-ness?
The father and mother ghost mentor the little one, encouraging her to be "weirder and scarier" - probably a larger lesson itself there. A classic as the ghost is sent to learn from the Scottish ghost, who himself is scared.

I'm sorry, this book wasn't for me. I think the storyline is cute and I usually love everything Scotland. I think the message of not wanting to be alone is sweet and can also appeal to many children who might be scared of noises etc when they are alone. But I thought the look of the book, the illustrations and font used were too simple for me.
