Another great book from Carla, I’m sure her books get better and better each time. This one kept me guessing till the end and I don’t even figure out who the murdered was. A few of the characters had me feeling a whole load of emotions, Hetty gives me the creeps for some reason or other and I just wanted to scream at Macie & Sasha in the odd occasion, I can’t wait to read the next one

A homeless shelter should be a place of sanctuary for those in need. But one such place becomes a nightmare when one of the residents of a local shelter is found brutally murdered with what seems to be a cryptic coded message from the killer. A number of suspects soon emerge, but when a second body is found - this time a woman in her home - the mystery deepens. What is her connection to the first victim? What do the killer's clues mean? And who is next on the killer’s list?

Sinister and suspenseful, Their Cold Hearts had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Complex, layered, and twisty, Carla Kovach has once again written an intricately woven thriller that took me on an emotional rollercoaster. It’s fast-paced, compelling and twisty with lots of red herrings. I thought I had the killer’s identity figured out, but Kovach blindsided me with the shocking big reveal.

This is the thirteenth book in the Gina Harte series, and it's no secret that I’m a big fan. At this point Gina and her team feel like old friends and I’ve got a special place in my heart for Gina in particular. In this book, Gina is going through a lot in her personal life partly because of her dedication to her job, and it was a very emotional read in places. Then there’s that ending, which broke my heart into pieces. But I love the relationship that the team shares and how they are a family, something that Gina needs more than ever. But she’s still the feisty, determined woman who will do everything she can to bring a criminal to justice. And the person she’s facing this time made my blood run cold. We only get a few glimpses into their psyche, but they made a chilling impression.

Dark, tense and forbidding, Their Cold Hearts is a riveting thriller that I didn’t want to put down. I’m so glad to have the next book in the series waiting for me so I can find out what’s next for Gina.

Thank you so much Carla has done it again.
I am absolutely addicted to the Gina Harte series and cannot get enough of them. What am I going to do now I've finished the last one?
This can be read as a standalone to be honest.
As always Carla keeps you guessing from the start to the end.
I cannot recommend this book or the series or Carla's other books highly enough. Absolutely in my top 5 of authors.

This is a great series, but the novel itself can be read as a standalone. This novel has an engaging plot with plenty of twists and turns.
If you're a fan of crime thrillers, give this one a go.

This is the thirteenth book in the series featuring Detective Gina Harte. Gina is taking some well earned leave to look after her Grandaughter Gracie, whilst her daughter Hannah is away. Gina receives a phone call from Briggs, her boss and ex lover asking for her help. There has been a murder at a hostel for the homeless. A man has been found stabbed to death with a £1coin placed on his forehead. Gina agrees to help even though she knows that Hannah will be furious as she leaves Gracie with some of her work colleagues, Trevor and Sasha’s job is to find homes for homeless people. Sasha lives in a flat with plenty of security as she has a dark secret from her past and is sure that someone must know this secret and seems to be targeting her. There is someone who has an electric scooter who seems to be watching her as well as trying to run her over. When Gina and her team are called out to investigate a second body a few days later, which again had a £1 coin left on them, it turns out that they had also been having problems with someone on an electric scooter. Who is the killer and what is the motive? Who is riding the scooter? This is a fast paced thriller with a great storyline and is a great addition to the series. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunities to read and review this book.

Carla delivers again.

I have not read this series in order but it didn’t matter. I still understood the back-story.

Another great mystery of lies, deceit, and the unbearable pain of losing a child.
What lengths would you go to get revenge?

Gina Harte is back. This is the 13th book in this series. In this installment, a homeless man housed in a shelter is murdered. It quickly becomes clear to readers that a killer is targeting the homeless and some of the officials who work with them, such as Sasha. She is being stalked with threatening message. I was curious about the killer and the connection between the victims. This is one story where I had to read to the end to get all the answers.

Gina continues to be one of my favorite detectives. In this story, her personal and professional lives collide once again. Honestly, I can’t wait to see her catch a break some time. Her life as a detective is going great but as a mum and grandma, she is struggling. Her relationship with Briggs also left me with questions. I can’t wait for a win in Gina’s personal life.

This was yet another banger! The investigation was brilliantly laid out and I was at the edge of my seat as each piece of the puzzle was fit in. I couldn’t predict the ending and was pleasantly surprised. I truly did enjoy this installment.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportuity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

This is number 13 in the Detective Gina Harte series, any of these books could be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone but this series is sooo good, you need to read them all! I love this character so much, Gina is honest and real, I get her struggles, they come through so well. this author is one of my favourites, I always know I am going to love the book when I see her name.

Gina gets a call to a murder scene, but is torn as her terrible daughter, Hannah (such an ungrateful person) has finally given her the chance to be a grandmother and watch little Gracie. Gina knows she cant leave Gracie but feels ity is her duty to help solve this brutal crime. She leaves Gracie with the person she trusts most, DCI Briggs but knows that Hannah will never forgive her and use it against her later. A homeless man has been brutally killed and it seems ritualistic, GIna and her team ( I love the team too) try to solve the crime before more bodies pile up and in a race to solve the crime, lives are put at risk. Great pace and storyline, cannot wait for the next book in this series!

I am a massive fan of the Gina Harte book , this was excellent as ususal , and seemed very topical , writing about the problems homeless people have to deal with every day . When a man is murdered in a hostel for the homeless Gina is called in to investigate , she agrees to work the case even though she is looking after her granddaughter , and she knows this will cause problems with her daughter . The murders soon escalate and Gina is desperately trying to find the link between the cases , as usual a lot of twists and turns , its a brilliant read . I feel so upset for Gina who is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't in her families eyes . Another 5 star read for me

I have read the first of the Gina Harte novels and I was worried that skipping to number 13 would get confusing (they are all on my TBR!) but Carla Kovach is such an amazing author that all the books can be read in standalone format too.
It was as always an amazing weaved story where you never know who to trust and I found it hard to put down! 10/10 would recommend!

My feelings are a bit all over the place on this novel. I couldn’t get into this novel as much as I wanted too. Maybe it was a language barrier or how the novel progressed. This novel did tug at my heart strings, I felt sad for the homeless and the treatment they receive. It was good and in reading reviews people really enjoy this series. This wasn’t for me but I know this would be a good mystery for most others!

Whilst this book is part of a series, it will not effect your reading if you’ve not read earlier books.

Another great read in the DI Gina Harte series, following both her latest case and the challenges it brings in her personal life.

Another Gina Harte thriller called Their Cold Hearts by Carla Kovach that I enjoyed reading! I received it from Bookouture via Netgalley and it was published last month.

One of the main characters is Sasha who we follow around while she does her job as a person finding accomodations for homeless people. Except, at one location a man ends up brutally murdered. Is it connected to Sasha? In comes DI Gina Harte who also has quite the backstory. The personal drama and the professional attitude she needs to have is perfectly described in the novel.

We follow different main characters and that's immediately a strength of this novel - you really get to know the different characters well with their own traits and reasonings for doing something. It being book 13 makes for the characters to be already quite worked out. That's like coming home to them when starting this book.

The writing is once again superb and I just couldn't put it down.

4,75/5⭐

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour.
This is the 13th book in the Gina Harte series. On the one hand, I can’t believe Gina and the team have had so many stories but on the other, I feel like the team is so well-established and work so well together that I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t reading their latest case.
Gina’s daughter as usual doesn’t give her mum a break. She is quick to judge and never lets her explain anything. I find her very frustrating. I do think Gina shouldn’t have taken this case given she was supposed to be looking after her granddaughter but Hannah’s reactions in previous books just solidified her character. Hannah has a warped view of her father and with Gina being the only parent she had she of course still gets the brunt of everything.
As always Carla drags you right into the story from the very first page. I was hooked and I just needed to know how the prologue related to the rest of the story. There are a lot of moving parts and they soon all weave together. The story is action-packed and full of many twists and turns.
This is another great addition to an excellent series!
